obsessed with how people hold Zim
So someone has probably already thought about this but..
Battle of the Planets…
It’s one of my favorite episodes of Invader Zim. And me being a weirdo who’s brain goes into strange tangents, I suddenly realized something.
In the episode, Zim ends up piloting the planet Mars like a space ship. In Roman mythology, Mars is the God of War. And it makes so much sense. Like, we as the audience know Zim’s exiled, but he doesn’t know that. In his head he’s on a legit mission for the Empire. He’s literally trying to bring war to Earth by means of invasion. Not to mention, he’s very capable of all kinds of destruction.
Then it gets better when you think about how Dib pilots Mercury. Mercury, the Roman messenger of the gods (yes I know he’s much more than that but the messenger part is what got to me in this case.) Dib’s been trying to get others to see what he sees, especially when it comes to Zim. Especially when it comes to life outside Earth. He’s constantly trying to warn everyone “hey Zim’s an alien and he’s gonna kill us all.”
Dib is literally the messenger.
And, in a way, Zim is literally war.
I kind of wonder if this was written like this on purpose, or if it was a happy accident.
Either way, next time someone says Invader Zim is a “stupid show” you should punch them because intentional or not this is some serious symbolism shit.
person: invader zim is actually really over rated and bad and embarrassing
me:
me: i mean,, sure but also
me: blocked.
At such a young age, Dib has the paranormal investigator’s curse…
….of taking bad pictures of their findings.

What Dib thinks he looks like while trying to convince people that Zim is an alien vs. What he actually looks like

“… My God, my favorite scene is when they’re on the train. Nothing is happening here; they’re just traveling and looking out the window, but after all the craziness that’s happened, it’s just the one place you want to be. There’s no dialogue here, there’s no talking whatsoever. They’re just looking out the window, and you can feel what they’re going through. This is the power of a visual medium: not everything has to be spelled out. A scene can just play and you can take whatever you want from it, because you know there’s such talented people behind it.” -Nostalgia Critic’s Review of Spirited Away
