a kid sister. Her mother is Jazz, father is Blues, and she has Soul, Funk, and R&B as siblings. Out of all the siblings, she looked like her mother the most, and had the same spirit of reinvention. She wasn’t popular as a kid; she spoke her mind without reservation and hardly cared for second opinion. Adults and critics didn’t find her rebellious behavior very becoming. Something they couldn’t deny, though, was that her voice was one that made ears and peers like moth to flame. She was poetic and blunt, eloquent and tactless, beautiful in her ugly. She shined, but where light lives shadows are lurking. When Hip-Hop came into her own and gained popularity, she found it increasingly harder to be that once fearless voice. Police are listening and media always need a scapegoat. It seems everyone has an agenda these days, some quick gain from her presence but she never stays around them long. Her name has been tossed around so casually that it’s hard to identify who she truly is. Some say she died, others say she never left. The way I see it, if we keep the integrity of our words and her fearless honesty in our hearts, she lives forever.

I've heard of the stereotype that black people don't tip. In fact I know it lol. I also know that black people generally have less disposable income to spend on pizza night, let alone pizza night with tip (driver's tip is not included with pizza). I'm not gonna front like I don't get mad sometimes, but I try to keep the bigger picture in mind while I roll my 4-runner out the H lot and into the streets. "You're not entitled to these people's money" I remind myself. It's a pep talk I repeat to keep my pride out of the way while the customer doesn't even hesitate to write '0' in the tip section. *sigh* *smdh* *bruhwtf* *nobutforreal?*
