        “oh, ms. okuda – did you need anything?“ the teacher lifts his head, lowering his pen before he piles his papers together. "or were you looking for someone, perhaps? unfortunately, i’m the only one in here at the moment, but if there’s something i can do, i will try my best.”

“ Good afternoon, sensei. ” Manami greeted her teacher with a polite bow, before standing up straight and stepping further into the room. As a matter of fact, it was quite fortuitous that All Might was here-- for he was exactly who she’d been looking for. 

          HE BLINKS AT HER, then nods. sure. he can go first. that’s no big deal. he is the teacher after all. but then again, he hasn’t been teaching for very long. he knows he’s inexperienced. and she’s been a student for three years, surely she’s far more aware of what’s needed, what good ideas are, and —

stop it, toshinori. 

“right.” he clears his throat. “first, i want to talk with the third years about the possibilities and options of further education after graduation, rather than signing on immediately with an agency and jumping right into the field. second, i want to do a few sessions of a quirkless-combat class. i’ve been teaching it for the non-hero students, but i think it’s something you could benefit from. and finally, a session on how to best take care of your bodies, so you don’t burn out at a young age.” he rubs a hand over his face. “what do you think?”

    Manami listened to All Might’s suggestions carefully, nodding slowly as he spoke to convey her attention. His demeanor did not go unnoticed, of course. But she simply figured that he was fatigued-- being a teacher was an incredibly tiring job, especially so when you’re also an ex-hero. That was definitely something she needed to consider with the career path she had in mind.

〝 I see. 〞she briefly looks down at her notes, scanning the page in front of her before lifting her gaze again. 〝 That’s actually not far off from what I was going to suggest. I think those are all very important areas to touch upon, especially the topic of post-graduation studies. A lot of aspiring heroes these days seem to feel pressured to sign up with an agency straight out of high school. In fact, I’d even go so far as to say most of them don’t even know that there are other options. It would be good to touch on that. 〞

    She flipped through her notes for a moment, grey eyes focused and intent.〝 Our homeroom teacher has been pretty thorough in regards to our physical training, thankfully. However, if possible, I think it’d be good if we spent a little more time going over Quirk Regulation Laws and Pro Hero conduct. 〞

    Manami knew that it was unlikely that they’d be able to get to everything, given the amount of time left between now and their actual graduation day. But she still felt it worth mentioning them at least. She was also willing to defer to All Might’s judgement in regards to what subjects would be most beneficial. After all, he has much more experience in the field than she does.

〝 I understand that we did touch on this briefly earlier in the year, but I think it’s worth revisiting. Sometimes, students seem to forget that Heroes aren’t exempt from the law, even if they are granted certain privileges in regards to their quirks. And many start to act recklessly as a result. 〞

         IT’S INTERESTING TO SEE the difference between the third years and the first years. they’re more mature, more experienced, and yet so many of them don’t have the real-world experience the first years have gotten. but that’s a good thing, all might thinks. his students are far too young for what they’ve been through.

all might laughs at the question — it’s been interesting, seeing the change in the way people address him now. and though he’s appreciated the attempt by many at more genuine connection, there are still some things he isn’t ready to let go of yet. “please — all might is fine. thank you, young okuda.” 

“please, feel free to share any ideas you have. i want to know what you all would like to get out of your last three months. and then i’ll tell you what i’ve been thinking about…”

〝 Very well. 〞

     Manami nodded. She was already more used to calling him All Might to begin with, so it wasn’t actually that much of a change. Besides, even though he wasn’t an active hero anymore, it didn’t diminish his identity as one. 

“ Well like, what kinda style do you have? Always wanted to spar with one of my senpai’s that isn’t Togata-senpai.  Because he’s kinda too good compared to me ” He perks up slightly as he speaks, though a sheepish smile slides in to place at the admittance of that defeat. “ I figured you can’t be as good. Maybe. I kinda wanna spar! ” 

Ouch.. Well, okay then.

〝 Well... Due to the nature of my quirk, style of combat is primarily defensive. I try my best to incapacitate my opponent with minimal injury. 〞 as if to demonstrate, Manami raised her hand and formed a blue-tinged psionic forcefield around her fist. One could definitely deliver a significant blow with a boxing glove like that.

        EYES GLANCE BACK AND FORTH, nerves which had earlier been so easily contained now evident in fidgeting hands, shifting weight, an awkward clearing of the throat —

“you’re the class rep, yeah?” all might gives the girl what he hopes still looks like a formal but kind smile. “i just wanted to say that i’m looking forward to working with your year in this final semester. and i apologize that it’s taken me this long to visit your class.” he looks guilty ;  is that where the nerves are coming from? does he feel bad for his focus being on the first years? it makes sense, even if he has more than enough reason. “anyway, i wanted to talk to you about any specific needs you anticipate your class having — certain topics you’d like to go over, anything you feel you’ve been lacking in that you want to know or do before graduation.” the smile relaxes some, as does the tension in his shoulders. “this is an exciting time. you must be looking forward to it!”

     All Might’s expression was already hard to read in his previous form, and it wasn’t much easier in this one either. Despite that, however, there was an unmistakable genuineness in his smile and vocal tone, and his greeting is met with a reciprocal bow from the class representative.

〝 It will be a great honor and privilege to learn from you, sensei. 〞she replied, as she straightened her back and moved to push her glasses back into position. Her tone of voice was decidedly steady, though not quite as rigid as one might expect.

〝 Of course. While our curriculum is fairly well-rounded for what it is, there are a few key areas where I feel like we would benefit from further discussion.〞
