I feel pain in thinking that I may not be the one for you

that there’s someone else who gets to make you smile and feel the warmth of making you laugh

I feel pain in thinking that our futures will not look like the one I once imagined

that I have to get comfortable with the idea of becoming that person alone

I feel pain in thinking that I was a lesson for you

that you needed someone to show that it’s possible for someone to be in love with you no matter how broken you feel

I feel destroyed, ripped apart, broken, lost

that I did everything I could to be your person to love you like I wish someone could love me

I feel hopeful and have faith that I will some day know what it’s like for someone to love me unconditionally

that one day this pain will disappear
