mike is in his college dorm. it’s decorated exactly like his bedroom at home. he’s lying on his bed looking at the painting but the dragon is? gray? was it always gray? he sits up to touch it but it’s so fragile his fingers tear right through.
mike is at a wedding. he’s not the best man. he’s sitting in the crowd. watching an old friend on the happiest day of his life. what was his name again?
mike is sitting in an armchair watching the tv. how long has it been static? he grabs for the remote but picks up a walkie talkie.

the static crackles, piercing his ears, he recoils. he’s back in his bedroom it’s the middle of the night. that dnd campaign had been perfect.

they hold eachother for another moment. this final battle will continue as soon as they stop breathing the same air. but in this moment it’s just the two of them. together.
