it’s not just the breakup that’s got her feeling so low, it’s the fight that ended it. words that are not dissimilar to ones she’s heard from her newest ex, but ones that hurt tendfold. she gets it — 𝒔𝒉𝒆’𝒔 𝒅𝒊𝒇𝒇𝒊𝒄𝒖𝒍𝒕 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒎𝒆𝒔𝒔𝒚, 𝒅𝒂𝒓𝒌 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒕𝒘𝒊𝒔𝒕𝒆𝒅, but she doesn’t need it to be thrown in her face. he didn’t like her panic attacks and she didn’t like how he didn’t like fruit. and that was just the beginning of their problems. as for theo, she doesn’t know how they stayed friends after their break. but they did. she had thought he got over it but when she hears him deliver the same lines she had, she realizes it might not be the case. she can admit what she said to be was cruel — and she should have apologized but now that’s so far from thought. she pushes him away, removing herself from him completely. “that’s really fucking petty, theo.”
the words that left his lips probably shocked him more than her. his lips parted slightly, uncertain on what he should say following that. apologize? try to save himself? laugh it off? what he really wanted to do was keep going, release all the pain that he had built up inside of him for the past year. he never really gave himself time to move on --- maybe it was childish, but he had simply tried to ignore his feelings so he could keep her in his life. if you care about someone, truly, you’d do anything for them, right? at least, that’s what theodore thought he was doing. he didn’t want to be like the other men in hara’s life. he wanted to be better. theo shook his head, quickly reaching for the girl again. “i know... i --- i don’t know why i said that. it was insensitive.” he frowned, brows furrowed. “i’m sorry. what am i supposed to say?”
