âYou punched him in the face?â
âHe had it comingâŚâ Max mumbled, his eyes downcast has he picked at his fingernails âhe wouldnât stop talking about mum and dadâ.
I released a long sigh, pinching the bridge of my nose while I shook my head in disbelief. As I sat out in the hall outside the principalâs office, I couldn't help but turn my head to look at Max briefly, who was sitting carefree and nonchalantly swinging his legs back on and forth on the seat. Look, I could understand his anger, the divorce of his parents wasnât easy on anyone. But punching someone in the face over it? This was too far.
I inhaled sharply, speaking softly to him as I leaned over to him. âMax, I know you have a lot going on, and I am really sorry that your mum and dad couldnât work things outâŚbut punching another kid in the face isnât a great resolutionâ.
Max huffed, balling his hands into fists and moving to fold his arms across his chest. âHe wonât do it again though, thatâs the main thing-â
âYou still hit someone Max, thatâs not okay-â
âWould you stop acting like my mom? You're not her, so stop trying to be."
My eyes widened, a choked gasp leaving my lips as my mouth fell open in shock and disbelief. Wow...that was...not what I was expecting. That hurt a lot, but he was right in a way. It wasn't like I'd been there for him through the last few months, trying to shield him from his dumbass parents and their stupid decisions.
"I...I'm sorry..." Max replied quickly, catching sight of him from the corner of my eye as he tirned to face me, "I didn't mean-"
âNo, I get itâŚâ I replied shortly, hating the way my heart clenched in my chest, how my breaths suddenly became short and tight, âIâm sorry your mum couldnât be hereâ. I turned my gaze away from Max, trying to hide the tears that threatened to fall. Fuck...I felt horrible now. None of this was Max's fault, and no matter how hurt I felt or how hard his words hit me, I could never blame him. Not for a single thing.
The door to the principalâs office opened, my head whipping towards the figure of Mr. Lautner as he pressed his lips together in a thin line.
âWe appreciate you waiting, Miss L/n, but we were able to contact Maxâs father and heâs on his way here, weâre just waiting for him to arrive before we continue with this meetingâ he spoke informatively, before stepping back inside his office and closing the door behind him.
My eyes narrowed in confusion, a small hum leaving my lips as I turned my gaze towards Max. I noted how his body tensed, his shoulder suddenly going rigged, his eyes remaining downcast and focused on the pale floorboards as I spoke confusedly. âYour dad is coming?â
âUmâŚ..not exactly...â he mumbled lowly, only just loud enough for me to hear over the bustle of the school's office. Alarm bells immediately began ringing in my brain as I raised an eyebrow, eyeing my nephew sceptically as I moved to speak.
But before I could even get the chance, a loud and boisterous British accent filled the hall, my eyes widening as my entire body went rigid, my jaw clenching in complete disbelief as I turned my body to face the culprit swaggering down the hall towards us.
âThereâs my boy!â Billy shouted proudly, opening his arms wide as he approached with that stupid devilish grin on his face. I glared at him, wanting nothing more than to shout and abuse the shit out of him for going along with Max's charade before Max jumped up from the seat beside me and raced over to him, wrapping his arms around Billy in a death grip of a hug. Billy lifted him up into his arms, staring proudly at my nephew, âWas it a good punch?â.
âI think I broke his nose.â
âOh you bloody beautiful kid-â
âHey!â I shouted loudly, managing to find my voice as I finally shook myself from my stupor, standing up from my seat as I eyed the two of them with a look of fury and anger. Both Billy and Max froze, both their heads slowly turning towards me in sync even with matching 'deer in headlight' expressions on their faces. âYou called Billy!?â I exclaimed in a hushed whisper, my gaze moving between the two of them as I rolled my lips together.
I watched as the two of them tried to come up with a response, a chorus of 'ahs' and 'ums' reaching my ears before the door to the principalâs office opened once more, and Mr Lautner stepped out into the hallway. âWeâre ready for you nowâŚâ he spoke sternly, his gaze moving between Max, Billy and myself as he gestured for the three of us to head inside.
I smiled politely at Mr. Lautner, nodding my head as he disappeared back into his office before I whirled on Billy and Max. My eyes narrowed as I agressively pointed at the two of them, my voice low and furious.
"Don't think I'm letting this go, we will discuss this later. Got it?"
Billy rolled his eyes, mumbling a small "Yeah yeah..." under his breath as he waved one of his hands nonchalantly whilst he placed Max back down on the ground. Both of them walked past me into Mr. Lautner's office, and I couldn't help but curse under my breath as I turned to follow them.
Two hours later, sat at an ice cream parlour a few blocks away from the school, I glared at Billy and Max in the booth across from me whilst I struggled to enjoy my dessert. Both of them remained deathly silent, their eyes downcast and focused on their sundae's in front of them, refusing to look up at me.
I sighed heavily, dropping the spoon into the bowl with a loud aggressive clang before leaning back against the booths red cushions. I eyed them both individually, pursing my lips as I huffed annoyedly. âI honestly canât believe you two-â
âA three-week suspension isnât that badâŚâ Max tried to defend, his eyes briefly snapping up to meet mine before he cowered slightly as I replied. âItâs NOW a three-week suspension because Billy here decided to piss off the boyâs father-â
âOkayâŚâ Billy replied lightly, holding his hands up in surrender ââŚto be completely fair, it was painfully obvious that the prick was fucking his secretary behind his wife's back, did you see the lipstick on his collar?-"
âThat isnât the point!â I exclaimed hysterically, groaning in frustration as I slumped forward against the table, burying my face into my arms as she shook my head. âAnd you, calling Billy of all people..." I groaned, my words directed towards Max as my muffled voice sounded even more pained than I felt, "...youâre lucky Mr. Lautner has never met your dad before.â
âItâs not like he was going to answer his phone anyway," Max spoke almost boredly, shrugging his shoulders as he spooned another mouthful of ice cream into his mouth, "so when they said that they were going to call him again, I just said that I forgot he changed his number, and gave them Billyâs.â
âOh my god...â I groaned again, shaking my head again as I prayed that the floor would just open up and swallow me whole. I could hear the two boys laughing at my distress as I sunk further into my seat, whilst I lifted my head and glared at the both of them with a disapproving look. "I'm so glad you find all this so amusing, because if this happens again-"
"Would you calm your tits?" Billy snapped playfully, despite the bite in his tone which I knew held no true malice, "okay look, maybe this wasn't the best idea in hindsight and yes-" Billy held up his hand, giving Max a warning glare to silence my nephew as he tried to interject, "...this definitely could have been handled a little better. But you and I both know Y/n, that Michael wouldn't have shown up anyway."
"I..." I paused, lifting my head up from the table as my gaze flickered between Billy and Max. I knew it was true, everything Billy had said was true. Michael wasn't doing anything to help himself, ever since his marriage with Laura had fallen through.
I sighed heavily, nodding my head as I brushed my hair from my face, biting my lip as I cleared my throat. "I know...and...thank you for stepping in, Billy. I appreciate it, I do...but let's not make this a regular occurance."
"You got it, cross my heart..." Billy joked brightly, that dumb devilish smirk forming on his face again as he continued, turning his gaze towards Max, "lose my number, kid."
"What!? No way!" Max exclaimed in horror, dropping his spoon into his sundae with a glare of protest "what if I need you?"
"Then call your aunt, Y/n is more than capable of helping you out. And you don't need my shit piled on top of yours, trust me. Supes are hard enough to deal with."
I leaned back in my seat, watching the two of them bicker and fight. I couldn't help but smile, shaking my head as I listened to them create a ruckus much to the displeasure of the other customers around us. Yet, I couldn't bring myself to care. Something about this felt normal, or at least it felt somewhat normal with how chaotic my life had been since...
That ache in my chest returned at the thought of him, at what he was doing right now. I wondered if he missed me, just as much as I missed him. As I let my mind wander whilst I listened to Billy and Max continue to argue, I couldn't help but smile sadly, feeling oddly at peace in the present, whilst silently wishing that John was here with me.
I needed him, more than he would ever know right now.
I sincerely apologise for being so inactive the last few years. I grew out of tumblr, and just couldnât find the motivation to write anymore.
Recently though, I have found myself wanting to write again. I want to come back and finish things Iâve left just sitting here, but I also want to do a whole new look as well.
I want to write new content, which means that unfortunately, some things will be left unfinished. I have a few fandoms I want to write for on here, but I would be happy to hear what you guys would like to see here on this account.
So please let me know what you think. Once again, I apologise that Iâve been so inactive, but sometimes life gets in the way.
People can only bend their morals so far before they break. Homelander is the worldâs greatest superhero, and you, a tech analyst, somehow become entangled in his world when he learns that you provide intel to The Boys. He makes it his personal mission to find out exactly what you know, but he never expected such resistance from someone as damaged as you. But broken things can be mended, sometimes in the most unexpected ways possible.
Wil a Cinderella story continue I miss it but I hope your doing well too
Hi!
I do apologise for not continuing A Cinderella Story for a while, I was so caught up with uni that I ended up having a huge breakdown and just took a step away for a while. But I do plan on continuing it soon!

hii just wanted to ask if youre going to continue âdont blame meâ or if youve dropped it?
I will be continuing it at some point. I have gotten to the point once again where I have hit a huge mental block and I am unsure as to where the story will go. But I do plan to continue it.
Here's a sneak peak at my next planned series for all you 'A Cinderella Story' lovers out there. You are not prepared....đ

"You have no idea what it is like to be a tarnished jewel in a room of diamonds. You do not know what it is like to be constantly looked over, in favour of those who shine brightest. All I have ever wanted is to be the object of your eye, for you to look at me the way you look at Cressida..."
"You have no idea what you are asking of me-"
"I ask nothing of you!" You cried, tears threatening to fall from your eyes. The stinging sensation forced you to blink, your heart aching with every breath you took. Your chest felt heavy, a small choked sob breaking through your lips as you trembled. It was raining heavier now, your dress and coat soaked right through. You hugged your arms close to your body, sniffling softly.
"I have loved you for so long, Benedict. My heart has always been yours, but you have never truly seen me. I have spent two seasons as nothing more than a wallflower, constantly looked over and never truly valued, never truly loved...when you called on me that day, my heart soared. I felt as if a fairytale was coming true, that perhaps you felt something for me as I did you. But you only called on me to tell me you were courting...her, and it was then I realised that you would never see me that way-"
"Y/n-"
"I understand that our friendship means the world to you..." You choked, the taste of bile forming in your mouth as you spat the word harshly "...but I cannot in good conscience, continue to be your friend when my heart yearns for you, when I crave your touch so much that it hurts...when I know you will never return these feelings."
Your watery gaze met Benedicts, your heart breaking when you realised how dishevelled he looked. His dark brown hair now black in the rain, stray strands sticking to his forehead as his soft blue eyes searched your face desperately. His green coat had turned a darker shade, the velvet damp and likely now ruined. He released a choked breath, his shoulders falling as he spoke confusedly. "What are you saying?" He asked lowly, his voice soft and breaking, hinting at what your next words would be. He really didn't want you to say it.
Your lips parted, breathing in shakily as you tried to hold yourself tall. You didn't want it to end like this, you didn't want to let go. You swallowed thickly, the lump in your throat choking you as you replied "...I'm saying this is-"
Benedict closed the distance, cupping both sides of your face as he smashed his lips to yours in a passionate kiss. Your eyes squeezed closed as you savoured this moment, the feeling of his lips against yours, his hands now tangled in your hair. The feeling of your heart breaking in two. You brought your hands up to steady yourself against his chest, grasping his coat collar greedily as Benedict deepened the kiss. His tongue clashed with yours desperately, you allowed youself to get caught up in the feeling of him before you gently pulled away, resting your forehead against his as you panted heavily.
"Please...don't say it" Benedict begged, his voice low and barely above a whisper. Another choked sob escaped you as you met his eyes, your heart aching as your grip on his coat loosened.
âď¸ w.c. 2.6k words
âď¸ tags/warning(s). no use of y/n, reader character uses she/her pronouns, reader leaves boyfriend for benny, minor depiction of violence, alcohol consumption & nicotine use; this part's pretty tame honestly, but there will be smut in the next part ;3
âď¸ a/n. The Benny brain rot has had me in a vice grip and I needed to write something before I exploded. Admittedly this is somewhat similar to how he and Kathy met in the film, but with my own spin on it, and will be expanded on in the next part.

When your boyfriend brings you to an unfamiliar bar, the rough atmosphere and rowdy clientele are a little more than you bargained for, but when you lock eyes with the handsome biker across the room, your whole night's about to change.
âWhere are we?â you asked as your boyfriend parked across the street from a seedy looking bar in a part of town youâd never been to before. The otherwise empty street was lined with bikes and you turned to gape at your boyfriend.
âA biker bar? Really?â you exclaimed, the idea almost comical. âYou wanna go to a biker bar?
Your boyfriend prickled at the insinuation behind your words. âYeah, so what if I do? You donât think Iâm tough enough?â he questioned defensively and you just huffed a cynical laugh.
âDo you even know anyone that comes here?â
âWell, no, butââ
You crossed your arms and leaned back in your seat. âThis seems like a bad ideaâŚâ
âCâmon, if it gets too dodgy weâll leave,â your boyfriend coaxed. âDonât worry, Iâll protect you.â
Though you had your doubts, you didnât argue further, stepping out of the car and crossing the street to the bar. As soon as you stepped inside, you hesitated at the threshold, fighting to catch your breath against the assault to your sensesâthe sour stench of sweat and stale smoke instantly hitting you, burning your nostrils as you breathed it in.
Jostled by the crowd and press of bodies, you blindly followed your boyfriend in search of a free table, barely able to hear him over the blaring music and rowdy bikers yelling to be heard over the din. Finding a lone empty table in the center of the room, your boyfriend claimed it, pulling out a chair for you and draping his coat over the one next to it.
âIâm gunna go get us some drinks, you stay here,â he said before taking off in the direction of the bar.
From your seat further away from the jukebox, it was a little more bearable and you could actually hear yourself think. Letting your gaze roam the packed room, you noticed you were getting some curious glances from the bikers sitting nearby, but you found you werenât the only woman there and that eased your nerves slightly.Â
The sharp clack of pool balls connecting pulled your eyes to the pool table in the corner and your breath hitched as you spotted quite possibly the most beautiful man youâd ever seen in your life leaning over the table, pool cue in hand. As he lifted his gaze, his eyes meeting yours, you couldâve sworn time slowed, and you wet your lips, your mouth suddenly dry.
Realizing youâd been staring a little too long, you quickly tore your gaze away, glancing back a moment later to find him still watching you curiously.
Pulse pounding in your ears, you watched him set his cue down and head toward you, a swaggering grace to his movements as he approached. Pulling out the chair on your left, he spun it around and straddled it, leaning forward to wrap his bare arms around the chair back.
âIâm Benny,â he said, introducing himself, a bright grin spreading across his tanned face as he leaned closer, dirt smudged across his cheek and a smattering of light freckles adorning his nose.
âNever seen you around here before,â he observed, tilting his head slightly, waiting for you to respond.
His low raspy voice sent a shiver through you and you watched him for a moment, wetting your lips before giving your name in return and his grin widened.
âYou here alone?â he asked, cocking an eyebrow at you expectantly.
âIâm here with my boyfriend,â you explained, lifting your shoulder in a rueful shrug, a regretful tinge to your voice.
âBoyfriend, huh?â Benny echoed, wrinkling his nose at the news, though you knew he'd had to have seen you come in together.
ââFraid so,â you murmured, losing yourself for a moment in his pale blue eyes, a soulfulness to his unwavering stare that held your breath hostage.
âSâa real shame,â he drawled, his eyes flicking up to focus on something behind you, and before you could reply, your boyfriend claimed the chair on your other side, squaring off across the table from Benny.
âBack off, man, sheâs spoken for,â he exclaimed, puffing his chest out in an attempt to look tougher, though beside Benny he just looked foolish.
Benny looked between the two of you, an amused grin playing at the corner of his lips, and he held his hands up harmlessly in surrender.
âAlright, Iâll go,â he said, a hint of laughter to his voice as he rose from the chair, giving you one last lingering look before heading back to his spot by the pool table, grabbing his abandoned beer bottle by the neck and bringing it to his lips.
âWhatâs his fuckinâ deal, huh?â your boyfriend huffed, setting your drink down in front of you, tearing your gaze from the roguish stranger. âFuckinâ vulture, thinks he can take whatâs mine,â he grumbled, taking a long drink from his bottle.
At his words, your brows pinched. Â
âHey, youâre the one that wanted to come here,â you reminded him, bringing your glass to your lips and taking a slow sip as your eyes once more flitted toward Benny, studying him over the rim of your glass. There was something about him that pulled at you, like a moth to a flame, and there was a part of you that wanted to be pulled, to let that flame engulf you whole.
It barely registered that your boyfriend had responded.
âHey, you listening to me?â he asked, snapping you from your thoughts and you made a noncommittal sound.
âI think I could do thisââ
âDo what?â you asked distractedly and he frowned.
âRide bike. Yâknow, join a club. Maybe this club.â
At your derisive snort his frown deepened. âWhat?â he demanded and you finally looked at him full on.
âYou arenât like these guys,â you said bluntly, tired of him trying to be someone he wasnât. âYou just wanna look cool, you donât love it like they doâriding,â you clarified. âTo them their colours are like a second skin, not just a costume you can put on when you feel like it.â
âOh please, Iâm sure most of these guys are just weekend warriors,â he scoffed and you rolled your eyes, letting your gaze wander once more, observing the other bikers that filled the hazy room, their raucous laughter and boisterous conversations filling your ears.
The longer you sat there, the more you felt eyes on you and you began to notice several of the bikers staring at you before quickly turning to talk furtively amongst themselves. Unsure if you wanted to know what they were saying or not, you turned away and for a moment your eyes met those of the man sitting alone at the table across from youâhe was older, his weathered face lined from life and hard work, and an air of authority radiated from him.
When he noticed you looking, he nodded to you and his full lips pulled into a smile, easing the hard cast of his countenance.
âI need some air,â you murmured, standing before your boyfriend could respond.
âWant me to order you another drink?â he grunted, taking another swig of his beer as you slipped your jacket around your shoulders.
âNah, Iâm good,â you mumbled, stepping away from the table.
As you passed, the older man caught your wrist, holding you in place and he peered up at you, an almost fatherly expression on his bluff face.
âYou donât need tâworry,â he drawled knowingly, his heavy midwestern accent coating his words while his deep set eyes flicked to his fellows and back to you. âNothinâs gunna happen to yeh,â he assured and you nodded slowly, unsure how to respond. Once he released you, you headed for the door, keeping your eyes straight ahead. Despite his words, you still couldnât quite shake the wariness that had seeped into you.
Slipping outside, you reached in your pocket for your pack of cigarettes, tamping one out and perching it between your lips. As soon as the door shut behind you, cutting the noise from inside and the cool night air enveloped you, you felt as though you could finally breathe again.
Leaning back against the rough brick wall behind you, you searched your pockets for your lighter, swearing under your breath when it eluded you. Pulling the cigarette from your lips, a heavy sigh followed and you let your head fall back against the bar wall, your eyes turning skywardâthe inky depths above obscured by the light of the neon sign that hung overhead.
You barely noticed the door swing open again until the crunch of boots on pavement stopped next to you and you felt a presence looming at your side. Figuring it was just your boyfriend, you let your head roll toward him, only to find Benny standing there, tilting his head as he watched you.
âNeed a light?â he asked, pulling a worn Zippo from his pocket and flipping it open with a practiced flick of the wrist to thumb the wheel, holding the flickering flame out for you to light your cigarette.
Feeling Bennyâs intense gaze on you, you took a deep draw through the filter, watching the cherry burn brightly before leaning back, and Benny snapped the Zippo shut, exhausting the flame in one fluid motion while you let your hand drop, lazily blowing the stream of smoke away from him.
âThanks,â you murmured, rolling the cigarette between your fingers as you lifted your eyes to his once more.
âSânothinâ,â he drawled softly, lips twitching upward. With the lamp overhead casting a halo over his tousled dirty blond hair, he looked like some sort of fallen angel clad in leather and denim, his rough garb so at odds with the tender cast of his face.
After several long drags, the nicotine began to soothe your nerves and you offered Benny a puff, your arm brushing against his as he leaned against the wall next to you.
âSo whoâs that older guy who was sitting at the table next to mine, the one who stopped me on my way out?â you asked, glancing at Bennyâs profile, your gaze lingering on his distractingly long lashes that brushed his cheek each time he blinked.
âThatâs Johnny,â he grunted, smoke curling from his lips as he answered, handing you the half spent cigarette back to finish off. âHeâs president of the club,â he explained and you nodded.
Silence fell over the pair of you, but all the while you could feel Benny watching you, searching your face for something even he wasnât sure he was looking for.
âWanna go for a ride?â he asked suddenly, nodding toward his bike parked nearby and you followed his gaze, flicking a line of ash to the pavement.
âSounds tempting,â you mused, taking one last drag before dropping the cigarette to crush under heel and pushing off the wall, dusting your hands off. âBut Iâm here with my boyfriend, remember?â
âI remember,â Benny replied, huffing a soft laugh as he shook his head, his grin widening mischievously. âItâs just a ride.â
âUh huh,â you countered skeptically, though you couldn't help but match his smile, the excuses running through your head seeming flimsier the longer you held his gaze.
Before you could give a proper answer, the door swung open again and your boyfriend stepped out, his expression twisting when he caught sight of you and Benny together.
âI thought I told you to step off, man! Think you can cut in on whatâs mine?â he spat and you couldnât help but gape at him, echoing his words incredulously.
âWhatâs yours?âÂ
âWill you just shut it and let me take care of this guy?"
Prickling with anger, you crossed your arms over your chest, your brows climbing as you shot him an indignant look and Bennyâs grin melted from his face.
âHey now. Donât talk to her like that,â he said, stepping up to him while subtly pushing you behind him and for a moment you saw fear flicker in your boyfriendâs eyes as he looked up at Benny, standing nearly a head taller than him. Tamping his fear down, he wet his lips and opened his mouth.
âSheâs my girl, and I can talk to her however the fuck I want. This is none of your fuckinâ business, asshole.â
Benny shook his head ruefully, sucking his teeth.
âSeems like yâneed someone to teach you some manners,â he drawled and you nearly laughed out loud at the thought of this brooding baby faced biker standing up for you against your own boyfriendâthough if you were being honest, soon to be ex-boyfriend.
Just then the bar door opened and several of Bennyâs fellow Vandals streamed out, forming a circle around the two men when they realized a fight was brewing, like sharks drawn to the scent of blood in the water. Despite the growing crowd, your boyfriendâs bruised ego refused to let him step down and in a foolish bid to prove himself, he rushed forward, his brazen swing catching Benny square in the jaw.
Stumbling back, Benny let out a low grunt at the blow before straightening, shaking the punch off.
âThat all you got?â he taunted, his deep drawl unphased.
Desperate to keep the upper hand, your boyfriend swung again wildly, but this time Benny was ready for it. Ducking, he countered with a left hook, sending your boyfriend sprawling. For one brief moment, you thought Benny wasnât going to stop, even though your boyfriend was already down for the count, but as soon as he looked at you, the wild light faded from his eyes and he merely rolled his shoulders, working the tension free.
When he stepped up to his bike and threw a leg astride it, he glanced back at you over his shoulder, his unspoken question hanging in the air.
Giving your boyfriend one last disgusted look, you turned on your heel and climbed behind Benny, wrapping your arms around his waist as he lifted up momentarily to bring down his boot on the kick lever, putting his full weight into the jump and the bike roared to life beneath you, the vibrations spreading through your body like a wildfire.
Several Vandals whooped in excitement and you heard engines firing around you, but Benny had already pulled away from the curb and out into the street. The stretch of road to the bridge ahead was deserted and the moon slipped out from behind the clouds to illuminate the way, shining off the damp pavement.
When you first hit the bridge, it was just you and Benny, and he threw his head back, letting out a howl that seemed to encompass everything you were feeling in that moment. With the chill night wind whipping past you, stinging your cheeks and tugging at your clothes, it felt as though you were flying, Bennyâs back pressed to your chest the only solid thing left in the world as everything else fell away.
Youâd never felt so alive.
So free.
In that moment, you understood why the Vandals rode.
Overcome with an emotion you could only describe as childlike wonder, you swept your arms out wide, a wild crow of laughter bubbling up from the depths of your stomach just as the other bikers crested the hill to surround you and Benny, the roar of their engines nearly drowning out your cry.
Your rush of adrenaline waned, leaving you reeling and you quickly wrapped your arms tightly around Benny, pressing your cheek to his shoulder blade as his warmth seeped into you, and you knew youâd never be the same.
Part of you wondered if that had been Bennyâs plan from the moment your eyes had met across the bar, but even if it had, you knew you couldn't hold it against him.

Summary: Have courage, and be kind. Words that you tried to live by ever since the passing of your parents. Though your step-mother and step-sisters did everything in their power to hide you and your status away from the rest of the Ton, you never expected to catch the eye of Viscount Anthony Bridgerton himself.
Authors Note: This is my first Bridgerton series! I had an absolute ball writing this, and I hope you enjoy it! There is a tag list open if anyone wishes to be kept updated for future parts. Gif by @venusianbabie
|PART ONE| |PART TWO| |PART THREE| |PART FOUR|
With the house descending into silence, you allowed yourself a moment to collapse onto the lounge in the living room with a loud sigh. With tired eyes your gaze focused on the ceiling, staring at the crystal chandelier as it glittered brightly.
A small smile crossed your lips, grateful for the peace and quiet. Lady Worthington, Mary and Elizabeth had left for the ball mere minutes ago, all of them excited and nervous about their prospects for the night. You hoped that Elizabeth and Lord Burton would get a chance to speak tonight, she had been so beside herself before she entered the carriage to depart. They had travelled with the Cowper family, who had sneered at your person when you had helped the Worthingtonâs to the carriage.
The train attached to Lady Worthingtonâs dress was a nightmare to manage, all bundled up in your arms so as to not drop it in the mud at your feet. You were covered in it now, thanks to a harsh push from Cressida who sent you sprawling onto the ground. Luckily however, you managed to save the train though.
You felt the sting of tears prick your eyes, a sense of sadness overwhelming you. How had you become so unfortunate? To be stuck with a wicked witch for a stepmother, and two stepsisters that laughed at you upon your little trip in the dirt. Elizabeth hadnât said anything, nor looked your way when Mary and Elizabeth started to cackle loudly. She merely turned away; her eyes downcast as she carried herself into the awaiting carriage.
You missed your father, you missed your mother. Their love and kindness was completely gone from this home, the home you had grown up in as a child. You cried into the cushions, sobbing loudly and desperately. You had never felt so alone, so vulnerableâŚso lost. You knew that they would want you to be brave, to stay strong, and to have hope that everything will work out in the end. Your mind flickered back to the book you were reading earlier that morning, of the fabled prince charming sweeping the princess off her feet, and living happily ever after.
Perhaps your prince charming was around the corner, perhaps he was waiting for you somewhere to take you away from this now horrid home, filled with heartache and distant memories-
There was a loud knock at the door, so loud that it echoed throughout the foyer and into the living room. You jumped with a small squeak, bolting upright in your position on the lounge. You wiped your eyes, drying your hands on your muddy dress and wiping your nose with your apron. It was unladylike surely, but you were not a Lady anymore. After trying and failing to make yourself look presentable, you hurried towards the door as the knocking sounded again. It sounded desperate, frantic even, your face contorting into a confused expression as you tried to think of who it could be.
It couldnât be a visitor for Lady Worthington or her daughters, the rest of high society was at Lady Danburyâs ball, and it was way too late in the night for anyone to be here in the first place. So, who could it be? As you opened the door your breath caught in your throat, your heart skipping a beat as you recognised the man that stood before you.
Viscount Anthony Bridgerton smiled, staring down at you with kind and soft expression. His eyes never left yours as he spoke, seemingly examining every inch of your face as he bowed politely.
âMiss Y/n, I apologise for calling so late, would I perhaps be able to come in-â
âWhy are you here!?â You found yourself exclaiming, your eyes wide in shock as you felt your heart began to beat wildly. Anthony Bridgerton, one of the most distinguished men on all of the ton was standing on your doorstep. Why?
Anthony chuckled, his charming smile widening as he shrugged his shoulders. âWhy not?â he replied lightly, finding amusement in your expression as it changed from shock to pure bewilderment.
âIf you are here to see Lady Worthington or her daughters, they are goneâ You replied shortly, your gaze falling nervously to the floor as you suddenly became very aware of your current state. You were completely covered in slowly drying mud, bloodshot eyes from crying, you no doubt looked like a complete wreckâŚwonderful.
Anthony hummed âIâm not here to see then, thank god. They arrived at the ball shortly after I left-â
âWhy did you leave? Surely someone will notice your absence, and what will the ton think if you are found here, aloneâŚwith me-â
âMy brother is good at coming up with excuses, Iâm sure heâll spin some wide tale about my whereaboutsâ.
âAnd is that something you wish to deal with?â
âBenedict can be a bit excentric at times, but I trust him wholeheartedlyâŚâ Anthony finished, clasping his hands behind his back and standing tall, â..now Miss Y/n, may I come inside? Or are you to leave your visitor out in the cold?â.
It hadnât occurred to you until now, but as Anthony stood before you, you couldnât help but notice how tall he truly was. You hadnât noticed it this morning, but he towered over you, the top of your head just barely reaching his chin. You stared up into his eyes, searching for any sign of jest, that this was all some sort of joke, and a complete figment of your imagination conjured up by your saddened state.
But he was real, and he was here.
You released a short breath, a soft smile crossing your lips as you stepped aside and gestured for him to enter.
Gif by @catalinabaylors
|PART ONE| |PART TWO| |PART THREE|
Sooner than he would have liked, the time to leave for Lady Danburyâs ball crept up on Anthony. Truth be told, he really wasnât looking forward to tonight.
Eloise still wasnât speaking with him, at least politely anyway. She would glare, scoff in annoyance every time he opened his mouth, and often snapped a snide remark in reply to a question.
Anthony could see that his mother, Violet, was incredibly uncomfortable with the whole situation. She had warned the two of them to sort out their differences before arriving at Lady Danburyâs residence, otherwise the two would be an embarrassment to not only themselves, but the Bridgerton House. Even if was only just for the night.
The carriage jostled about along the cobblestone street, with Violet, Eloise and Anthony sitting in complete awkward silence. Anthony could feel his sisterâs glare burning holes into his head, the tension weighing heavily as his gaze moved to settle on his mother. Violet looked between her two children nervously.
They were to be at Lady Danburyâs residence any second now, appearing before the ton in such a state was not a good look for anyone. âNow I donât know what is bothering the both of you, but you two need to resolve this matter quickly. You are both the face of our family tonight-â
âMother-â
âEnough! I have never seen the two of you bicker like this before, it is unlike you both. Now I suggest that you settle this matter here and now, before we are to arriveâ Violet snapped, glaring harshly between her two children before her. All Anthony could do was sigh. He heard Eloise scoff, shifting uncomfortably beside him as she grumbled âFine. I will play nice for now, but you need to actually open your eyes-â
âOpen my eyes to what!?â Anthony exclaimed, turning his body to face her fully âYou had told me nothing! What exactly am I supposed to be looking for here?â
âIt is so plainly obvious, even Colin could figure it outâ
âThen why donât you tell me!?â Anthony shouted, hearing his mother sigh heavily across from him.
Eloise glared, clearly uncomfortable with where this conversation was progressing. He noticed that her hands had now clenched into fists by her side, her eyes falling to the carriage floor. âIâŚI cannot, I am sworn to secrecy-â
âOh for the love of-â
âOh thank god, weâve arrivedâŚâ Violet breathed nervously, fixing her cream and gold patterned dress as she adjusted her gloves anxiously. Both Anthony and Eloise fell into silence, anger bubbling in his chest as he continued to stare at his sister.
Something was going on, and it irked him to not know what it was. He felt the carriage stop, and turned his gaze towards his mother as she quickly exited the carriage and breathed a deep sigh of relief. Next was Eloise, who cleared her throat and fixed her skirts as she moved toward the carriage door, but Anthony stopped her. He gently grabbed her forearm, stopping her from moving as she quickly turned to face him, a furious expression on her features.
âDoes this have something to do with Y/n? The girl we met this morning?â.
Heâd been wanting to ask that question since their return home, since Benedict had bothered him all afternoon about his feud with their sister. If this was supposedly about you in some way or anotherâŚwhy? He knew that you and Eloise were close, good friends even. But what did Eloise, and supposedly Colin know that the rest of the ton did not? What was going on in the Worthington household?
The way Eloiseâs expression softened confirmed his suspicions, she sighed heavily. âI can say no more, but I will say this to you, and I want you to think about itâŚreally think about it. The ton knows that Lady Worthington married Lord L/n upon his late wifeâs passing, and she adopted Lord L/nâs daughter alongside her own. So, think on this dear brotherâŚwhat happened to her?â
Anthony froze, his brow furrowing as he though on Eloiseâs words. He hadnât thought about it really, no one had seen Lord L/nâs daughter since his passing. Heâd heard rumours that she had run away in grief, leaving behind her family estate and fortune to Lady Worthington and her daughters. He remembered heâd only seen her once, heâd attended one of Lady Danburyâs balls as a child with his mother and late father. He had been quite nervous being amongst all those people, but he couldnât take his eyes off a young girl about his age, perhaps a little younger, dancing with some of the men and women at the ball.
She had the brightest smile, and a contagious laugh. It was only after the ball upon their return home that Anthony had asked his father who that girl was. Upon hearing that it was the daughter of Lord L/n, heâd hoped to see her again. But he never had.
Violet stuck her head back inside the carriage, glaring at the two of them harshly. âWill the two of you get out!? People are watching!â She exclaimed in a hushed whisper, urging the two of them out with her hand. Eloise forced her arm out of her brotherâs hold and stepped outside, smiling forcefully up at her mother as she tried to appear happy.
But Anthony was stunned. He felt rather uncomfortable now, unsure of what to think or do now with this knowledge. It irked him, made his stomach churn uneasily as he stepped out of the carriage and fixed his jacket. His eyes met Eloiseâs once again, and he couldnât help but feel sad. He entered the ball by her side, his arm looped through hers as they moved about the crowd of people. His mother had disappeared to speak with Lady Danbury, he could see the two on the other side of the room gossiping to themselves happily.
He felt as if he was in a trance. Amongst the dazzling light of the chandelier and the multitude of candelabras strewn about the room, he couldnât focus. The sounds, the surroundings, everything was blurring into one big mass. He left Eloise for a moment, allowing her to mingle with some other debutants while he chose to escape outside for a moment of fresh air.
He felt sick, an uneasy feeling settling in his chest. It had only been an hour since their arrival, but all Anthony wanted to do was leave. He couldnât think straight, couldnât actually come to terms with what Eloise was suggestingâŚif she was even suggesting that in the first place. He took a deep breath in, now turning back to face the congregation inside.
He couldnât go back inside, not after seeing Lady Worthington and her daughters enter the room with an extravagant pose. Upon seeing Lady Worthington, dressed in a deep blue gown with golden shawl draped over her shoulders, Anthony jumped the small balcony and landed in the gardens below. He fixed his jacket, releasing a quick breath as his eyes quickly darted around to make sure no one had seen him.
ThoughâŚhe had to be the most unfortunate man at the ball tonight.
âWhat the hell are you doing!?â Benedict exclaimed in a hushed tone, a confused yet furious expression on his features.
Anthony flinched, lifting his gaze upward and giving his brother an awkward grin.
âCover for meâ.
âExcuse me!?â
âJustâŚbe there for EloiseâŚâ Anthony groaned in annoyance, shrugging his shoulders nonchalantly ââŚI have some business I need to take care of-â
âDonât you dare leave me here withâŚâ Benedict growled, his entire form freezing as he heard the shrill voice of a woman call out to him, one that Anthony couldnât help but snicker at ââŚthat.â
âIt would appear that Miss Mary Worthington requires your presence, dear brother. Perhaps it is I that will enjoy your misfortune instead-â
âOh, oh ha ha haâŚâ Benedict snapped sarcastically, glaring down at his older brother with annoyance ââŚyouâre such little bas-â
âGive my sincerest apologies to our mother, and I shall see you upon my return home!â Anthony called out as he spun on his heel and jogged away, laughing quietly to himself as his brothersâ pleading cries faded into the distance.
Hi!! If you donât mind me asking, do you know about how many parts Cinderella might be? I tend to wait a bit to read series, and binge read them
I'm happy that you asked! As of right now I am unsure as to how many parts there will be to 'A Cinderella Story'. I'm hoping for more than ten, as I am putting a twist to the story which I hope everyone will enjoy, which means it will take a little longer to write. However if you would like, you can message me privately and I can add you to the tag list for future updates? I will also publish a masterlist when the series has been completed, and will be tagging everyone there as well.
