Oh i love this concept!
I love it too! I love it mostly because it makes me feel less overwhelmed. When you break it down like this, everything seems so much more manageable. Like, hey, I could memorize 20 words at a time (even if ‘at a time’ varies wildly for me), and just do that like ten times. That’s a HUGE chunk of a language.
(And since I have the habit of doing languages that are similar to ones I’m already familiar with, the grammar part usually comes pretty easy, too.)

Nine Knots Charm
Seven shells, a raven’s stone, and two old weathered bones,
Nine knots to bind the wind, or so the story goes.
Each knot holds a secret key, sung on the ocean waves,
an old leather strap has caught the wind, as sure as deadmen’s graves.
We raise the leather to the sky, and call out the sacred names.
We call three times for each knot, three times we do exclaim:
“Where sea and sky do meet, the water is our soul. Where cloud and waves are one, the salt our tears extol.
In our blood a fire is eternally quenched, By the tides that drive the wind over the open fetch.”
With our tears and breath we bind that spirit’s hastening air.
To be unleashed at our command these words we must declare:
“Spirits of the wind, come forth from untied knot, Bring on the coming gale for which this spell is wrought. Spirits of the air, your ancient dance is called anew, Unleash your frenzy like a storm on darkened seas untrue.”
Tears of pain and tears of laughter work in equal parts,
to hold fast the wind in knots you’ve tied with subtle cunning arts.
To ask the spirits to subside, to call off that quicken’d air,
Call out three times these baneful words and never do despair:
“Lay the Air, let it lie, quite spirit wind. Quell the storm, Gale subside, my tears I do rescind.”

Just because its not happening here doesn’t mean its not happening
My heart omg
I used to be really into demonizing anyone who used the wrong language or said anything remotely problematic. I thought it was helpful. Not only was I wrong but in doing so I prevented people from learning and growing (myself included!). Kirby knows what’s up.
Great point.
If you want justice, keep your focus on the mission and off your ego. Are you here to make a difference or to feel better at the expense of others?

Times have changed, and so has the craft. The old texts are all well and good, but with the modern proliferation and incredible variety of practitioners in the community, there needs to be new material to support the new generation. Witches are looking for new angles and fresh ideas to supplement their practices, and that’s what I’ve chosen to write about. My first solo project, Grovedaughter Witchery, was a brand-new take on the Witchcraft 101 book, with a focus on accessibility, secular inclusion, responsible crafting, and solid practical advice. It debuted to rave reviews and a weeklong stay at the top of the Amazon’s top sellers list for the overall Witchcraft category. Readers and reviewers alike have remarked on the practicality of the text, and the oft-repeated phrase that turns up is “Where was THIS when I was starting out!” A review in Witches & Pagans magazine (Issue #35 - Natural Paganism) praised the book as a friendly and conversational read, calling it innovative, accessible, and useful for practitioners of all experience levels. With the help of patrons like you, I hope to make writing my fulltime job, so that I can keep creating amazing books like this one. I’ve got several projects in the works right now, and all of them promise to be great additions to the library of the working witch. All I need is time to focus on research and creation, and your contributions help support me and keep the lights on while I work toward my next publication. Thank you very much for all your support thus far and for your continued encouragement as I move forward with my writing. Please feel free to email me with questions, tag me in social media, and spread the words to your witchy friends and family. Every little bit of recognition, visibility, and positivity and every cent of your donations is appreciated more than I can possibly say! Love and Best Wishes, Bree NicGarran
