okay I have let the sass take over for long enough. back to your regularly scheduled dashboards with your regularly scheduled Liesl.
and on that note Iām off to go do some adult things because I am an adult.
I need to go to the store to get sugar so I can bake cookies.
ā¦but is that even a burn, considering that I have exactly three romantic ships that Iām aware of, and literally everyone else is a platonic ship?
Youāre the WORST. Did you not know youāve tried to force a romance on me? ;) People have problems, it seems, hun. Lol. Iād not even give it a second thought. Someone is just a bit bitter.
It is so very obvious that sigridofdaleās followers love her. We have never even interacted, but looking at their blog, I can see how sweet they are. You can tell a lot about a person by who stands by their side when theyāre under fire. You can tell that they really love their character and put thought into their blog and that is always awesome to see.
sigridofdale replied to your post ā(DON'T YOU DARE HIDE I SEE YOU! *tackle hugs* I missed you <3333)ā
(*hugs you super tight* I'm glad the muse is finally coming back! ily)

kept in darkness | Sigrid & Bard
As irritating as Sigrid had found it when Alfrid had insisted upon calling her fatherĀ āKingā andĀ āSireā every available moment (and even creating moments to call him that simply for the sake of calling him by some title), she had never hated it as much as she did just now. Ā If it was his being King that had gotten himāthemātaken hereā¦she wished that he was still just a bargeman. Ā Not a dragonslayer, not a king. Ā Just a bargeman and her father.Ā
But he was not. Ā
The door opened, then, and Sigrid was pulled bodily from her father, despite her cries of protest, and he was dragged from the cell before the door was shut again. Ā āNo!ā No, they could not take him, she did not want to be left here alone.Ā āNo, bring him backāpleaseāDa!ā But no matter how she called for him, no matter the tears she could not hold back, she was alone in the dark.Ā
And she remained huddled on the floor, crying and scared, until the door opened again and he was thrown inside where he fell to the ground.Ā āDaāā Sigrid scrambled to him, trying to bite back her tears,Ā āDa what did they do? Ā Da?ā
Moments felt like a lifetime between falling and feeling his daughter close by him again. She was alive, as Bard reached out, he could feel a steady, if not slightly too fast rhythm pulsing underneath his fingers. At least his beloved child was well alive, that was all it mattered. For this had always been his priority, this young woman, who was once a bundle in his arms, so easily sheltered and protected by work-weary arms, wrapped up in a cloak to keep her warm. Everything has changed and for the first time he feared to expose her to the cold and brutal world again. What he would tell her, he knew, would cut like a knife, worse than any physical torture the orcs could do upon either of them, for there was no greater pain than losing a loved one and knowing to hurt a loved one.
āPoison.ā His voice was barely a whisper, but he knew Sigrid, knew sheād listen until she heard the cause of her fathers weakness. Bard looked for the signs in her face, despite the darkness, looked to see her spirits falter. But they had time. They had time and maybe, maybe Lord Thranduil would have mercy on them. Maybe he had survived. Unable to muster up the energy to lift his hand to her cheek, the king squeezed her wrist with whatever strength he had left.Ā āThere is medicine. Elven. There is time. Your siblings... Thranduil, they will find us, I swear, child, there is time. Do not despair.ā
Bard had rebuilt the town in Dale and men had gathered to him from the Lake and from South and West, and all the valley had become tilled again and rich, and the desolation was now filled with birds and blossoms in spring and fruit and feasting in autumn. And Lake-town was refounded and was more prosperous than ever, and much wealth went up and down the Running River; and there was friendship in those parts between elves and dwarves and men.
Snow nodded. āAlright. I suppose that is a good plan. Weāll see what works best for them. Besides their lessons, have they any responsibilities? I will do my best to plan the lesson times at times best for the children.ā, she assured him with a smile.Ā
āI would like that, thank you.ā, she agreed, her hand still clutching the bag she had put the loaf of bread into. āI feel so foolish now about the bread at the market earlier. Youāve been so kind and good to me, giving me a job and shelter and a mealā¦ā Her cheeks flushed scarlet and the idea of stealing. She had been desperate, but the young woman knew it was never alright to steal.Ā
āBarely. They had too many when we lived in Laketown still. Here Ā like to leave them freedom.ā especially Sigrid.Ā āTheyāre princesses and a prince now, they can enjoy that a bit, I would say.ā Bard smiled softy at her. Their society was still so young but all of them had one thing in common: They knew hardship. āYou werenāt foolish. You were desperate. We all know what itās like. Had the town not supported me, i would have had no choice but to steal myself after little Tilda had been born.ā

As exhausted as she was, Sigrid managed to give her father a little smile, reaching a hand over to lay on his. Ā āBut I did not,ā she assured him in a tired murmur, bringing his hand over to her lips to press a kiss to his knuckles, then rest his hand on her cheek. Ā
However frightened she, too, had been, however pained, it had all faded now that she had a sleeping newborn son cradled to her breast. Ā āI promise you, I am alright,ā she told him, knowing well that he must have been as frightened and worried as she had been. Ā āYou did not lose me,ā she reminded her father, still holding his hand to her face,Ā āAndā¦now you have a grandson.āĀ

Bard still felt himself shake. He almost lost his daughter. His kids were his world and almost losing them always shook him to the core. He needed to protect them. And in this case he couldnāt. Like his wife, he could not protect his daughter from giving birth. However she managed it. She was weak and exhausted, but both her and her son seemed to be strong enough. The babe was resting against Sigrids chest. Bard stroked her sweaty cheek. āAye. And I am so proud of you, Sigrid. So very, very proud of you and him. Heās perfect.ā

kept in darkness | Sigrid & Bard
Though she was sure that his words were only to comfort her, and she had to fight a nagging fear that they would not be able to figure this out, Sigrid could not help but take comfort in her fatherās words. Ā He had never broken a promise to her, not once. Ā He had killed a dragon because heād all but promised Tilda that it would not kill them. Ā If he could do thatā¦He could do anything. Ā She had to believe in him now, or else accept that their situation was hopeless. Ā And he had not raised her to give in toĀ despair. Ā Ā Ā
She almost moved to work the ties on his hands when he told her that they were bound, but stopped when he continued, telling her to look at him. Ā No, she could not look at him, if she looked at him, he would know she was afraid. But he repeated the request, and she looked up at him, knowing that if she did not, he would certainly sense her fear. Ā So she looked up, trying to steel herself so that he would not think she was afraid as she met his eyes through the darkness. Ā
His words made little sense at first, āBut why? Ā We are not valuable, we have nothingā¦ā But then her words trailed off. Ā Their town had burned to the lake, yes, but her father had killed a dragon. Ā And news of that could only spread quickly, she knew. Ā "ā¦they couldāve heard the men call you King,ā she murmured then, recalling the way some of the men of the Lake had called her father āKingā and 'Masterā since the news of the Masterās death. Ā Alfrid had even done soāloudly, and often. Ā If anyone thought him to be a kingā¦that alone would give them value.Ā
For this short moments Bard saw the girl in front of him, his young daughter, still happy and hopeful, without the responsibilities that were place upon her later. He saw her before her world shattered. Heād not fail her again, not her. And he saw her mother before him. He had sworn to her from Sigrids first cry, that heād protect their baby girl. And he would. āThey most certainly did. The men and elves looked to me. The elves refereed to me as king more than once.ā It was more than possibly the cause of them being captured. He didnāt wan to imagine Sigrids worth, however he had a sinking feeling he knew it regardless. Suddenly the door opened, light streamed inside. The orcs all but ripped Sigrid from him, pushed her into a corner, to get him. They pulled him outside, down a corridor into a dark, foul smelling room for interrogation. Not long after he was brought back, but he couldnāt stand. Instead he fell, like a sack of wet grain to the floor.
Kiliās eyes widened as he saw the bowman walk up to him, shivering and with that desperate look in his eyes. Quickly making an attempt to stand up, which he later regretted, Kili shook his head weakly. āI havenāt seen your children Bard. Iām⦠Iām sorryā he whispered, almost afraid to make too much noise, he understood how the bowman must feel; how devastated an worried he must be. Kili had cried enough already, his mind was blank. And the wound in his leg hurt.Ā
āI-I donāt know where Fili isā¦ā he said with a broken voice, tears threatening to well over again, even though he was sure he was alive. Kili had fallen out of the boat as they joined the crowds near shore, and there heād gotten lost, now the pain kept him from looking after his family. But seeing the man shiver made his heart ache and slowly he pulled his own dirty blanket heād gotten off himself and gave it to the man. āYou need to warm up before anything elseā
No. No, they had to be somewhere. They had to be somewhere here, he just had to look harder and heād find them. They were probably exhausted. Maybe his brother was with his children. It was possible. They got separated but the elf and the others dwarves stuck with his kids. He could only hope for that to be true. In that case they might be unharmed, he hoped they were. His life had no meaning without them, they were his entire life now, his entire purpose of living. āNo, keep the blanket. Iām still too wet for this to be able to warm me up anyway.ā Heād need to try first.Ā āYou stay warm, dwarf. Iāve been through this kind of wetness before, I will be fine.ā He might get a cold, but that was a small price to pay for ensuring peoples lives. āWe will find them. If Iām not mistaken they should be...ā Bard had just turned to the water as he saw it, floating sadly on the surface: A doll, a doll he knew all to well. It was Tildas doll. āNo.ā Bard moved back into the water, far enough to catch.Ā āNo. Please, gods above, no.ā
She gave him a nod, flashing him a beautiful smile, that she had hoped would calm his nerves even more. Rising from her spot at the table, she cleared the empty bowls away; finally hearing the commotion from upstairs she called to the three Bardlings and now could see them, one by one, making their way down, all ready to go out for the stroll.
Eira wiped her hands clean and went to the door, picking up her husbands coat, and held it out.Ā
Bard took the coat and put it on without a question. Heād need the coat again after all. As did the children. He literally worked for that, to give them warm coats and food. And it wore him down. But he fought for the right reason. He took his loves hand and smiled at his children. āI will try to get a day off soon. I know itāll be a hard dent in our finances, but... you know.ā ā
āYouāre in a depressing mood today, my darling."Ā
āIām being realistic. I will die, Mina.ā

Just listening to his words, she managed a nod as she frowned a bit. She remembered, hearing what was said in the kitchen she was placed in. Bard had not lead an easy life, especially after his wife passed on. An yet he still has his morals, a good heart, even now when the snowfall keeps coming.
Opening her eyes again, she stared at the flames in front of her. Her first experience with them when she was reborn was not a pleasant one, waking up in cold waters while Laketown burned, in front of Smaugās dead body. And yet, she was very glad that they have this fire to help them manage through this night. āStrangeā¦ā
Strange. That covered a lot, actually. All of it was strange. Bard pulled the blanket closer. All of this was strange, but they had to endure. They would endure, at least the fittest of them. Despite all the weak ones safe, he knew not all of them would make it. There were many people dying even back in Laketown. The weather was against them. They had to try. āWe should make tea... but I think itās wasted on Blogad. He wonāt make it.ā
Gardred smiled and giggled his babyish little giggle at the feel of his grandfatherās touch on his cheek, letting go of his motherās finger to grab at his grandfatherās fingers instead. Ā Sigrid laughed lightly, moving over slightly so that her father had room to sit beside her.Ā
āHeās perfect,ā Sigrid told her father, quite convinced that her son, was, indeed, perfect. Ā "And I am well, too.ā
The man couldnāt help himself. He grinned widely at the baby grabbing his finger. He loved his perfect soft skin, like his daughter had it when she was a babe. But then he thought about the fear he felt when he knew she was in labor, the pain at possibly losing her. The boy restored the joy, brought life back, but he didnāt want to go through the fear again. He couldnāt lose his girls.
āMy precious girl, I am so glad to hear that. I was so worried. For your life.ā
