"A kiss in exchange for every nice thing you say about me. Deal?"
âDeal,â Al nodded, a grin tugging up on his lips while he pulled Snow onto his lap. He didnât much care that they were at some party for veterans of the Great  War, he hadnât wanted to come in the first place. But his darling wife had insisted that he still looked handsome in his uniform and that she wouldnât mind some dancing, and who was he to say no?
His arms wound around her waist. âLetâs see, what nice things can I think of about Moxie...â he pretended to think to himself, pausing a moment before saying, âYou are gorgeous, the prettiest girl Iâve ever seen. Ye are brilliant, and a good shop owner to boot. Ye are... a life saver. Iâm always so afraid that youâll leave me, âcause thereâs no way I can come close to being as good of a husband as you are a wife. Our little lad or lassie will surely have the best mother in the history of mothers...â Al placed his hand on the barely noticeable bump of her belly before leaning closer, lips brushing her ear and his voice turning low.
âYou are the bravest, strongest person Iâve ever known, my dear Moxie. Youâve got enough Moxie for an entire army, love. You are the funniest lass Iâve ever met, and everything about you puts everyone else to shame. You are the only lass Iâve ever tried to keep, if I was being honest, and I think I loved ye from the day you went shooting with me at the farm.â Â
Al gave her a devilish grin, pressing a kiss to the skin just behind her ear before teasing, âYou remember when you climbed outâve me window and you gave me this look that said, âif you look iâll rip ye a new one?â I didnât look but... I mayâve peeked.â
