Doctor who means the world to me. I grew up seeing it everywhere, as most people growing up in the uk did, and I finally got round to watching it when I was around thirteen. It was one of the worst points of my life, even when I look back now, but doctor who was the one thing that was there for me. It brought me so much joy in that time, so much comfort and love that I can’t remember anything but the happiness of that time. I remember how golden life felt, despite everything, the thrill of hearing that stupid theme song, the pure excitement as I watched each episode and how happy I was. I was only little then - Doctor who was such a formative part of what makes me who I am today and it feels inseparable from who I am because of that. It is is such a large part of who I am as a person and such a large part of my life. Every time I rewatch it, a part of me just sparks up. I feel whole and like myself again, like I’m that excited little girl. It’s such an indescribable feeling and I know some people might think it’s weird to feel this attached to a tv show, but I know im not the only one. Somehow, this stupid, silly piece of television has touched so, so, so many hearts across the world. Doctor who is so special. Yes, it might be a about aliens and time travel and space adventures, but at its heart, it is a tv show about everything that makes us human - all the excitement, the love and the pure indomitable human spirit that goes into living.
