Asa sighs happily as he sits in his perfectly cushioned chair, with his perfectly comfortable blanket, and his perfectly warm and sweet tea, while reading his perfectly intriguing book. Everything felt complete. He was living in a wonderful cottage with his husband, who had been with him through thick and thin for years now, ever since they met in the bookshop.
A small smile tugs at Asa's face as he glances at the ring on his finger and then to Anthony, who was currently studying the stars. Asa could tell Anthony was simply...who he was supposed to be with. His person.
Anthony, feeling the gaze of his loving husband, looks up from his mess of readings and research, meeting Asa's adoring gaze with a grin.
"Something on your mind, Angel?"
Asa feels his heart flutter in his chest. No matter how long him and Anthony are together, he doesn't think he'll ever get over how that nickname makes him feel. Everything with Anthony just feels...right, and Asa couldn't explain it.
"No, no. Just thinking," Asa explains sheepishly, gently placing a bookmark on his page before closing his book. "Anthony, do you believe in soulmates? Or...maybe even...past lives?" Asa asks, curiously testing the waters for Anthony's thoughts.
Anthony hesitates a bit before turning himself to fully face Asa, his eyes focused, practically showing the wheels in his head turning. "I believe that you make me happy, and that whether we were fated to be or not, I love you and I want to spend my days with you."
Anthony's voice carried as he spoke, like it usually does when he's stating simple facts, Asa noted. He nodded thoughtfully, taking in Anthony's stance on it. "I love you too, my dear. Sometimes I just get this feeling," Asa explains, "and it feels as though I am complete when I'm with you. Almost as if we've done this before, but with different circumstances." Asa glances at his lover, fidgeting with his hands. "Does that make sense? Or do I sound like a loon?"
Anthony lets out a lighthearted chuckle, rising from his seat and sauntering over to his husband's chair, gently placing a hand on his cheek. "Sounds to me like you're in love."
Asa smiles warmly, feeling a bit of heat rising to his cheeks. "You say that as if it's my fault that you're devilishly charming," he retorts, softly kissing Anthony's palm.
Although Asa couldn't shake the feeling that this was all familiar, Anthony did make a good point. Whether it was fate or not, Asa knew with his entire being that Anthony is the one he wants to spend his life with, and that's enough for him.
