@wickanderhalovar I tried to answer your ask about my pantoran lore but tumblr ate it.... so I am answering here!!
The Pantorans venerate the Goddess of the Moon, Catha. She is considered to be the Mother of all the Children of Pantora, who breathed the planet into existence, and created each and every single person, animal, plant, river, tree and flower all on her own.
Moved by her love for Creation, she breathed a soul into each one of her creatures, and gave them the ability to create alongside her.
(And since Pantora itself is a Moon, she works more like how we might consider a goddess like Gaia etc.).
The act of Creation is extremely valued by Pantorans, from planting a flower to building cities, they are all actions equally loved and respected, as they are the gift that the Mother Goddess gave them as her greatest act of Love for her children.
While at first this religion was monotheistic, as centuries and millennia went by, more and more figures started to get venerated alongside the Goddess, bringing the creation of the cult of the Blesseds.
The Blesseds are all Children of Pantora, who during their life did extremely good deeds, or overcame great feats, or whose talents saved countless other people etc.
All of this led people to consider their existence as a blessing from the Goddess, who had sent them to help her Children during hard times.
No one actually knows how many Blesseds exist. Some Blesseds are so old that there are no actual records of their existence, leading many to believe that some were actually born from legends.
Some Blesseds, that in life were two different people, ended up becoming one entity, while sometimes a single one became venerated as three different Blesseds.
To become a Blessed, they would need to be recognized as one by the local Temple, who would then keep records of their life, their deeds and their death, but the Temples aren’t always the safest of places. Between natural disasters and wars these records can be lost forever, especially the most ancient ones, and so keeping track of all the Blesseds becomes impossible.
For someone to write down every single Blessed, they would need to visit the Archives of every single Temple of the planet, visit every single city and look through their archive, and then go door to door to every single Pantoran household and ask each family who them, their parents, their grandparents, their great grandparents etc. prayed to in their daily life.
Each region, city and household prays and venerates a different Blessed, some families even praying to Blesseds that are their ancestors. They have different Temples all over the planet and the religious people that live and work there use these titles after completing their studies:
Lottye/re: Sister/s
Vettyu/ru: Brother/s
Sattyo/ro: Sibling/s
These titles do not actually have a translation from Pantoran to Basic, and Sister, Brother and Sibling are just the closest terms that can be used to describe their meaning. The people of the Temple in fact treat each other as a big family, with all of them being the Children of the Goddess.
Those that are still studying use this title: Vettyi/ri: Child/ren
Again, this term does not have a proper translation in Basic, but overall it means that those who are still studying need to be guided and taken care of by those that have already taken their vows, so they are called Children because, just like children, they need guidance to walk on this new path of life.
Every Temple has a Head that takes care of the religious aspects of their life, but also works to keep the Temple running. These are the Titles for this figure:
Dattye: Mother
Littyu: Father
Rettyo: Parent
Each city has a Blessed as its patron, and while the Temples are exclusively dedicated to Catha, many mambers of the religious order still pray to the Blesseds they grew up with.
Architecture wise the Temples are really similar to monasteries, who follow a really gothic-like kinda of style, with walls made of white stones, colored-glass windows with religious scenes, with many statues across the halls, and are full of mosaics.
They mostly decorate the floors and the ceiling of the arches, leaving the statues and the widows to decorate the walls.
Some Temples are really isolated and only the religious order lives there, while others are in the middle of a city, and some of the bigger Temples have a huge prayer area for those that want to pray with their community.
Most of the times the prayers are done at home, with your family, but if a large family or a group of friends wants to pray together for whatever occasion, then the local Temple is a better place for it.
There are various symbols important to their religion, like:
The Lotus flower, considered to be the first hand-crafted creation made by Catha, from which the planet was born.
Catha's Tears, a type of stone that shines when in contact with water which is often found in rivers and lakebeds, and as the name suggests are considered to be the physical manifestation of the Goddess's tears from one of theri myths (the stone is used everywhere in Temples, even worn by the religious chaste).
The planet also has a connection to Kybers: There was a Vein, like on Ilum, that grew inside an ancient cave far away from any city, the closest people living there were the inhabitants of a Temple, who had decided to keep it a secret from anyone that was not a Pantoran, believing the existence of this vein to be a Blessing of Catha, and so, a gift for her Children, whose crystals were only given to force sensitive Pantorans.
During the Sith Wars the existence of the cave came out, and when the Pantorans refused to give any of those Kybers to anyone the Sith bombarded the cave, completely destroying the Vein. Before this could happen, many Force sensitive Pantorans went to the cave to save as many of the crystals as possible, and then traveled across the planet to ditribute them to the various Temples of Catha, so that they could hide and keep them safe.
From here started the tradition for Pantoran Jedi to go back to their planet, after retreiving their first Kyber from Ilum, to go and receive from a Temple one of the ancient white Kybers who survived!
(And to give them back Jedi dies, for the future generation of Pantoran Jedi).
Art is extremely valued by Pantorans, as it is considered the ultimate Act of Creation that every single Pantoran can do.
The type for which they are the most famous for are mosaics! There is an ancient city whose walls and houses and streets are completely decorated in deeply intricate mosaics, and its considered one of the most beautiful cities of the whole galaxy.
The planet also has a militaristic culture, which was stronger in the past when they were still a feudal society, but whose shadows still remains in the present too, one of which is their compulsory military service:
Every single pantoran (who is mentally and physically capable) has to go through military training (regardless of gender) at the age of 20, and there are two ways of it:
The first consists of 2 years of service, and then you get sent home (done to ensure that there are always "spares" in case of an armed conflict).
The second lasts 8 years, (done to have "quality soldiers" always ready)
Who goes where is chosen trough an annual sorting in their cities (the majority only does 2 years, while the unlucky minority does 8) (you can enlist on your own for the 8 years service, but not the 2 years one).
Most of the people that do the 8 years service in the end just stay in the military and grow their carrier there instead of going back home.
By the time of the Clone Wars the 8 years of compulsory service has actually been revoked, thanks to Riyo and her Party's campaign (this change is what will make her popular and will lead her to be voted as the planet's representative).
Pantorans are most commonly known to have their tattoos on the forehead and the cheeks, and the tradition says that children should get the forehead symbol from their mother, while the cheeks symbols from their father, but this rule can change between regions and have their exceptions (like somebody only having one parent or three or more etc.), especially the placement where the tattoos are drawn on, but the common rule is that they should come from their parents.
