Core Features
Rome wasn't built in a day
What's the big break through you can do to deliver on the ballot atlas?
Data is saved locally
Get the map loaded and colour showing
That's it. Let's do this and then get complex.
BallotAtlas
Let's get started.
Done and dusted
Well, I've delivered on websockets at work. Time to do a bit of self-learning.
Thoughts #2 (Priorities)
Got an interesting task at work today where I needed to understand polling and websockets.
A bit short on time there's a JS fest video I want to watch but also i still want to finish the .net web api lessons.
Let's keep it simple. Start with getting that routine hour in for web api

I am back!
Well it's been a while.
I was busy with delivering at work and I've been doing a bit of algo and data structure practise.
The thing is I actually enjoy learning .net and devops more than practising algos.
Algos by themselves seems a bit pointless. I have the most fun when im building something.
Thoughts #1 (Find Joy)
Struck by how important it's to find joy in what you're doing. If you see it as a chore - it's always going to be a drag. Also if you didn't attach the stigma of 'work' or 'obliged' to something. The task by itself is actually quite fun.
.NET #2 and Blogs #1
Followed the first steps of creating a web api following the .net docs. Will keep summary in local word doc. Don't think tumblr is the best for detailed notes
Blogs #1
Read https://khalidabuhakmeh.com/how-to-add-models-to-aspnet-core
Some takeaways
It [the Model] is the application’s dynamic data structure, independent of the user interface. It directly manages the data, logic, and rules of the application.
model vs viewmodel: ViewModels only expose data or logic that operates on existing properties within the instance.
For endpoints, register model to dependency injection container
Thoughts #0 (1% Everyday)
One of those days when you want to spend the rest of the night doing nothing. In these moments, got to remind yourself, it's the little improvements everyday that make you better.
Also I started reading .NET MVC! I should have read about web api. Will do that tonight for a bit and maybe just read a blog. For a bit.
Will you become immediately a .net pro? Nope, but even doing half of a page is the starting point.

No-tut-vids please
Really don't want to go down the video pathway. Reminiscent of tutorial hell. Will just go through the docs and get something working.
Tech approach
Let's just give this a go:
.NET is a free, cross-platform, open source developer platform for building many different types of applications. With .NET, you can use mul

Keep it Simple (Core features)
Just to get it working
Hardcoded map of the United States
Find data source
Linkage between map to data values
Breakdown to one level - state level
Colour of the states
And that's all folks
Flood the page (Feature Brainstorm)
Creative madman phase:
user created maps
start with political maps
excel sheet ingest for data
compare previous years data for a county
anomalies finder
breakdown - Country, state, county
thematic colour of counties, darker shade for more
test data - change data points and see how the maps would behave differently
upload entry point for excel sheet
save a map state
insight finder - growth over time, regression testing
A dream list from a brainstorm. Let's determine the features and a tech learning plan.
