The golden feelers gently wrapped around her arms and torso, pulling her to her feet. The Ohmu could see she was afraid. The feelers remained around her arm to keep her steady. <Are you lost?> he asked. <We can take you to the edge of this desert, where humans can help you. We cannot go much farther than that.>

Haz`le still felt a little tense as he lifted her up. “Um, I’d rather get to a forest or something, if you can help me with that, I’d be very grateful.”

Yes, she was lost. She was certainly lost. She wasn’t even sure she got here in the first place, sometimes these things happened.

“What… what are you?”

<We are Ohmu. The forest is not safe for little ones. Poison. Humans die without masks. We do not want you to die. You are not an aggressor.> He had never had a human, or human-like, person aside from Nausicaa actually be WILLING to enter the forest. Speaking of whom… Nausicaa was flying in on her glider. 

The princess could see the Ohmu was holding something. His eyes weren’t red. They were blue. Upon circling closer, her eyes widened. That wasn’t a something. It was a someone.

And that someone had wings.

“Ohmu?” Haz`le repeated carefully. She had never met anything like this before. It looked like a bug, but she had never seen a bug so big!

The Ohmu had turned to begin heading towards the valley when he saw just who he needed. Nausicaa. He stopped where he was, and waited patiently for her to approach. <Princess Nausicaa is here. She will help you.> He let go of her arm once he was sure she was steady on her feet, and backed away some.

Nausicaa landed not far from them. She walked up to them, little fox squirrel perched on her shoulder. 

Nausicaa was fascinated by the ship Keith had arrived in. “ ‘She’? You talk about her like she’s a living creature. I’ve never seen a ship like this before.” The princess approached Red curiously, resting a gentle hand on her claw. Brown eyes studied the lion. “The Ohmu won’t hurt her. He won’t hurt you either. You’ve given no reason for him to be hostile.”

The Ohmu went from resting a feeler on Keith’s shoulder, to actually looping it around his torso with other feelers coming around to support his legs. He then picked him up, much to Nausicaa’s surprise. “Oh my goodness… He’s examining you…”

<We will not hurt you, little one. The other little one says you are not an enemy.>

The Ohmu’s voice would ring loud and clear in Keith’s head. Nausicaa, though she herself was unable to hear the exchange, had experienced it enough times to know what the Ohmu was doing.

The Ohmu shifted to relocate the young man again. By then Nausicaa was at the site, swiftly approaching the other. “He won’t hurt you. It’s an Ohmu. Don’t attack or you’ll enrage him. My name is Nausicaa. I’m the princess of the Valley of the Wind.” 

As if to emphasize what she’d already said, the Ohmu decided to let his feelers rest on one little shoulder lightly. 

Nausicaa was fascinated by the ship Keith had arrived in. “ ‘She’? You talk about her like she’s a living creature. I’ve never seen a ship like this before.” The princess approached Red curiously, resting a gentle hand on her claw. Brown eyes studied the lion. “The Ohmu won’t hurt her. He won’t hurt you either. You’ve given no reason for him to be hostile.”

The insects were curious of this new craft. Some remained in the jungle. But the ones that had her worried were the massive Ohmu. One was already approaching the pilot of the craft. 

The massive creature stopped within feet of him. His eyes remained a calm, observant blue. His many legs bunched up underneath his great bulk. After a few moments of thoughtful watching, golden feelers slithered out from his mouth which was hidden by his many legs. The feelers were gentle. Lightly touching the strange armor.

Nausicaa shot down the tree as fast as she could and grabbed her glider. Her greatest fear was that this newcomer would attack out of fear and enrage the Ohmu. She knew all too well it would trigger a chain reaction. The Ohmu shared a hive mind. What one knew, they all knew. If one fell, they would know. And they would stampede.

Something had disturbed the insects in the Toxic Jungle. Nausicaa took to her glider to see what it might be. What had her curious was the fact that there was no rage in the atmosphere. No angry insect chatter. But there was definitely swarming going on. Something had their attention. 

Several things went through her mind. A lost ship, maybe?

The Ohmu had not seen a human like this before. Not during his lifetime, or the lifetime of his kind. Golden feelers extended towards the tiny (to him anyway) being, gently brushing against her arms. 

<Fear not, little one. We hurt you not.>

A soft voice would be heard in her head. For the Ohmu were telepathic. She was like Nausicaa. Except… Not like Nausicaa. There was something else about this one. Something he could not quite figure out.

Haz`le stiffened as she saw the huge… uh, caterpillar type thing. As it extended it’s feelers towards her she fell backwards and flinched. Then she heard a voice in her head. She shivered. She wasn’t sure if she liked this much.
