Im so so sooooo obsessed with craft a lie bc we know there have been more games then just the ones that made into a video (shout out to infume for not even trying to defend himself when he did a mistake as the impostor) but obviously these 2 were on for long enough to be interesting videos but for COMPLETELY DIFFERENT REASONS.
Craft a lie 1 is interesting bc no one really picks up any major things since feinberg is actually just playing the seed normally most of the time and doing the tasks in between. He does one major mistake in one seed and its only brought up later on in the last second so he still wins.
Meanwhile in craft a lie 2 hax is a fucking mess, somehow almost loses the first seed (when he didnt even have the tasks yet) and finishes without getting free the end, then he has the worst stronghold nav ever for the second seed, and for the third seed he makes everyone discover a brand new bug in ranked that would ruin his game as an impostor, and SOMEHOW he rolls a nat20 on charisma to not lose the match ON THE TIME THEY HAD A FORCED VOTE. And if things couldnt get any better, everyone who would vote for him loses before they have the chance to vote. And NOT EVEN HIS SABOTAGE AGAINST INFUME WORKS. And when hes in a corner where he is so obviously the impostor bc his lies make no sense and at least one person is Thinking it clearly already, he still wins because infume is too busy boating boating boatingπΆπΆ to connect the dots
Oh Fruitberries my beloved, I am so so happy he's coaching Scar this midoffs. He just excudes warmth and whimsy and gets Scar's genuine excitement for the small things in a minecraft world.
I really really love how he reframes the most intimidating parts of speedrunning. Before we start routing the scary bastions, let's have a fly around first. You want an elytra in inventory for emotional support? 100% understandable let's do that. Say, do you want to learn how to leap across the bridge bastion gap between ramparts? It's a funny little parkour jump! It's not hard, it's a cool thing that 'might scare you', but not inherently difficult.
Midoffs treats itself as a competition to see who's the best coach, but realistically the best coach is different for each student. Couri excels at the actual coaching and acts as a great mentor / friend to an equally competitive and excitable student, while Silverr and his mentee is like a veteran battlefield commander and their well-trained soldier, unflappable and unstoppable. While I don't necessarily believe in Fruit & Scar winning the whole thing, I can't really imagine Scar meshing as well with anyone else while cramming so much in so little time. And ultimately, isn't that the point of midoffs?
Also, we as a community should endeavor to adopt Scar Tower into our lexicon. It might not see much use, but Scar just seems so happy to hear it. It's always nice when an unlikely collision of worlds leave little marks of its existence.

TOP4 TMR
realised i never posted the rendered version i did of this piece for practice... oops
some mcsr playoffs sketches
Tried putting the S9 MCSR ranked playoffs runners into categories based on their playstyles while waiting for semifinals, wondering what other people think:
Lowkey-esque Players: Lowkey, Steez, NHB Defined by mechanical excellence, but more notably a lack of hesitation when decision-making. Will go for the risky / unconventional / variance plays. Well-known for incredible top speeds in linear seeds, but the lack of hesitation often give them the advantage in messy and unclear situations as well.
Micro-Technical Players: Silverr, Doogile, Beefsalad The goal is to always make the correct play based on currently available information. This means being good mechanically to pull off strategies, knowing a lot of really micro time-saves on scale of in-game ticks, but also active thinking & constant adaptation. Testing & analysis outside of practice games.
Mechanical Players: Hackingnoises, Blazemind, Nahan, HDMICables, Aquacorde Probably the most broad category, but players defined by their excellence within individual splits, eg. bastion routing, dealing with blaze spawner, end fights. Flashy plays common but not necessary. The more linear the seed, the more these players are at an advantage
All-Rounder Players: Infume, EDCR Players who might not stand out mechanically, but achieve consistent fast times across the seed thanks to decision-making and being aware of their win-con (eg. when to high-roll).
RSG-Influenced Player: Skycrab Possesses the lack of hesitation characteristic of Lowkey-esque but with some minute differences in the timing & content of pre-crafts compared to top ranked runners. Preference for high-roll plays (eg. going for stray blazes, not breaking treasure spawner, terrain decisions) without necessarily high risk (eg. go with no food). Buff on BT seeds.
All Advancement-Influenced Player: Feinberg Playstyle that is overall quite similar to the all-rounder, with some affinity to some weird-looking plays (eg. long pearl-hang to second spawner) which might very well just be Feinberg's own tourney experience showing. Buff to inventory management. Debuff to zero cycle (/j).
Mongey Style (Macro-focused) Player: BigbigMongey ???? Yeah there's no other runner at the top level who plays even remotely similar to how Mongey plays. He magics time-saves out of a hat. Looking at splits it's mostly to do with terrain navigation, but he also doesn't hesitate and look around so much like other players do when they try to navigate complex terrain. So like. Intuitive understanding of which nether trees to climb to get to the bastion faster??? No player fit into any category perfectly (except Lowkey and the style named after him I guess). For example, Aquacorde is very good mechanically, but it manifests in clean gameplay and consistency instead of flashy manouveurs. Doogile is not in the mechanical category, even though he obviously excels at the actual mechanics. Beefsalad can go into any of Micro-Technical, Mechanical, or Lowkey-esque depending on the game.
My NY reaolution is sub20 π
