I talked to an actual union organizers today and they were like "yeah 90% of people on Twitter are insane and wrong about actual union organizing. It's a slow and unglamorous process and it feels like very few people actually understand how it works." and I cannot tell you the wave of validation and relief I felt there.

More people who take prescription meds should see themselves as drug users. More people who drink coffee and booze should see themselves as drug users. Considering yourself a drug user puts you in solidarity with people who use criminalized drugs! It turns out that criminalizing only some substances and then classing people who use those as "drug users" is yet another way for the state to divide & conquer, but also you do not personally have to engage in the criminalized drug trade or take criminalized substances to like...support people who do & learn how to use Narcan. Addiction (and where the line is between addiction and recreational use!) becomes easier to understand when you can compare other stories of chemical dependance to your caffiene withdrawls on a no-coffee morning.
