When you come to us in a panic about your reptile acting unusually or having been hurt, there is only so much we can do, even if the blogger you’re asking is a vet. This is the internet, and no ammount of pictures you supply or descriptions you use will be as good as a qualified herp vet who can hands-on examine your pet. 

If what is going on is worrying enough for you to ask if something is wrong and you can’t find out through a google search, you should be taking that animal to a vet and not relying on the individuals on here to fix the problem. ESPECIALLY do not blame them when things take a turn for the worst and your animal dies, because you didn’t take it to a vet.

And if the reason you’re asking online rather than taking your pet to a vet is because you don’t think the animal is worth the money of a vet visit, you should not have that animal.

But if it’s just unusual, yeah, absolutely ask first - there are some things in herpetoculture that don’t come up on care sheets (sperm plugs?) and if there’s no visual sign of trauma to the animal, you usually have enough time to ask someone who may know better for advice. You may still end up at the vet - or you may need a husbandry correction, and the vet is usually going to do sweet-fuck-all for that problem, unless they’re one of the very rare exotics vets who is a herpetoculturist and isn’t reading anapsid.org.
