it’s  the  faint  burbling, not  unlike  the  adults  in  the  the  charlie  brown  &  snoopy  show  that  alerts  her  to  someone  attempting  conversation.  it’s  a  common  occurrence  :  regardless  of  headphones,  or  book  in  hand,  she’s  always  the  one  people  approach  with  their  questions  (  is  there  a  restroom  nearby  ?  /  WHERE’S  THE  GENERAL  STORE  ?  ).  she  slips  her  headphones  off  her  head,  an  apologetic  smile  offered.  ❛     sorry,  i  completely  missed  that  ---  what  were  you  saying  ?     ❜
