"Black to the Bones II, Rakia Edition",14.2% Imperial Stout by @cohones.brewery 🇧🇬 Sweet, sweet lord of hops, this is fantastic! Smooth, balanced and sooo tasty. The rakia taste has been infused 1:1, just like the real thing but without erasing any of the traditional flavours expected from a classic imperial stout. And all of this comes in a surprisingly light body with a finish that is gently warming as opposed to aggressively boozy. I can now say with pride, joy and 100% certainty that there is finally a Bulgarian craft beer style - Rakia Imperial Stout. And it is LEGENDARY! The Verdict: A resounding 10/10! Mikkeller Baghaven 🇩🇰 is one of the must visit beer locations in Europe. Not only because they make exclusively wild ales with spontaneous fermentation. But also because it's location, on the banks of Copenhagen harbor, overlooking city centre and basking in the rays of every sunset, is one of the best places in the city to sit back, relax and enjoy the moment. I tried a few of their in house ales, but one was definitely the best. "Ensenada" is a wild ale matured for 10 months in tequila casks and made with grapefruit and sea salt. Pour and leave aside for 15 minutes so the natural carbonation settles down. After this you can experience one of the best wild ales to ever come out of Denmark. The palate is long ,intense and complex. Sour, salty and vary savoury. A journey of flavours. Simply put a fantastic beer! The verdict: 10/10 (the first of this year and only the fourth ever!) "Alma" by Dorst 🇧🇬, 5.1%, IPA Nice tropical nose. Not so tropical body as there are quite noticeable bready and yeasty notes. Good body, bitter after taste. A little on the fizzy side. No matter where I travel, I always strive to consume local products, as I do in my everyday life. Sure, sometimes it takes a little searching but in the end it's always worth it. Not just because it supports local businesses but also because in most cases, the products are better. The medieval town of Sibenik in Croatia 🇭🇷 is a place where you can get lost and found ten times in a single day. So I was pleasantly surprised to find local craft beer in a random bar I popped in, because I needed to make change. 1066 by @pivovara_022 is named after the year this town was founded. It's a flavourful and well balanced California Common which I really enjoyed. So if ever you are in Sibenik,make sure to seek it out. I won't tell you where it can be bought as finding it is part of the experience ;) In the 7 days I spent going around Croatia, one of things that really impressed me was that there are small local producers of everything, everywhere.
