Infinite Jest

In my new job I have been asked to finally learn the .NET framework. And you know what? I am gonna do it. I am studying from the book called "Microsoft Visual Studio 2015 - Unleashed" by Lars Powers and Mike Snell. Wish me luck.

This is what I have learned so far.

Call to "/home/index" means calling a controller called "home" and a method called "index". Just calling "/home/" means the same thing. When we call it, the request goes to "HomeController.Index". The method returns a "ViewResult". This will return "Index.cshtml" file from View's "Home" folder.

"ViewBag" is a dynamic container used as a key/value pair dictionary.

@ symbol signifies Razor code. It tells the server that these code should be executed before serving the file.

Model uses "Entity Framework". To create a model we follow the following steps. 1. Right click on the model folder 2. Select add new item 3. Select class 4. Give it the name of the entity in the database

We can add validation for the properties of entities.

I tried to import large sql file today. But I was getting an error saying there was a keyword error on line "SET Foreign_KEY_CHECKS=ON". Changing the MySQL settings worked. This is what I changed, exactly -
