My friend tried to explain this to me… She said that they wouldn’t want say grade 7 kids to go up to there parents and say they’re singing a song about transgender people. Well fuck that. They should be able to say, yes, we’re singing a song that mentions sexuality being OK - because you are born that way. She says that since it’s a school, we must be conservative, and since gay marriage is still illegal there would be a lot of people who would find the lines uncomfortable. No. We shouldn’t cater to homophobia in case they might be offended, we should however promote acceptance, how are we to collectively progress as a society if our education systems will not?  I don’t know if anyone has bothered to read this but I’m not sure yet whether to approach the principal about this issue, though like or reblog if you think it’s worth doing and I will.
