Hearing Pax's desire to answer a question, the being let out a low hum, allowing him to go on. Though, as he spoke and brought up the incident with Kalaren, Death's finger lightly twitched.
For a moment, they were unsure on what to tell him. If they should, truthfully. It was something that even the concept had never witnessed or heard of until it happened, for such a thing should not have happened. One of those instances where there is so little information available without thorough digging that even a concept had next to no knowledge on.
A quiet sigh left the being as they placed the cup of tea down, adjusting their robe a little before they spoke.
To put it simply, it should not have happened.
There are instances where memory is wiped. You have seen it happen in your long life. It has happened with Moon. It has happened with Xinalith. But even the memories do not get erased from the soul. Through a form of soul manipulation, it's possible to regain those memories once more. You're merely interlinking the mind and the soul so they can meet once more, allowing an understanding of what once occurred and therefore the memories return. In fact, that was the very form of magic I used when Xinalith was reminded of their time under Vestricha's care before they erased it from their memory. It was most likely unnoticeable as I am, quite frankly, the most proficient with such a craft.
But for it to be completely erased from the soul like it never existed is unfathomable. It shouldn't be a thing to do, and that alone has never been witnessed before Kalaren. In truth, I had no information to even explain the reasonings for why it happened... until recently, that is.
There exists a rift that has been hidden somewhere within existence for many, many years. Undetected from even the origin pillars for who knows how long, containing a variety of artefacts that goes against the laws of existence. Those in possession of these objects can seemingly break those very laws in a myriad of ways and not be detected by ourselves. In fact, Moon and Xinalith had discovered something not too long ago where souls were being harvested from bodies into weapons and believe that these are sacrifices being offered to a God. More specifically, it is a large amount. Far too many.
Souls are not to be sacrificed to a higher deity. This alone should've alerted myself, Moon and Xinalith for breaking these laws. But not a single one felt anything.
In that very rift, it's believed that the pool that Kalaren fell into originates from there. But once more, it has been undetected for so long, hidden from the concepts of existence, that we do not know where that rift is or how to reach it.
There is currently an investigation undergoing to locate it. Time and Space are working effortlessly to locate it. Once they do, however, I will be making both Moon and Xinalith investigate it further and to try and close the rift. I'm sure that when that happens, more answers will be unveiled.
But until then, that's all I know.
