Oh, really? Wow, that’s quite amazing to learn about.
I think so also. Then again, I am studying to become a marine biologist. Aside from the obvious bias, the ocean is, indeed, inherently amazing.
Were you aware that humans have only explored 5% of the ocean? In estimation a minimum 50% of all life on Earth is beneath the ocean surface. Currently, scientists have successfully found and named 1.5 million of these species. Though the real kicker lays in the fact that it's also estimated there may be around 50 million unidentified species living in the ocean.
Makes currently considered mythical creatures like the Kraken or the Leviathan seem not so entirely abstract, don't you think?
A terrible pain brought Terra back to her consciousness. She could not locate the source of it; there was a dull throbbing in her every bone, and her chest felt especially restricted. She tasted blood in her mouth. She pushed herself off the hard and cold pavement and ran a hand trough her damp hair. It took her a moment or two to remember where she was and what had happened, but soon images of the fight flooded her mind. There was no trace of her attacker, and only a pool of blood reminded of the girl she had earlier found dead. Terra was still alive, and she supposed she was lucky because she could have easily met the same fate as the girl. But she was not capable of such a positive thought at the moment. In a semi-confused stupor she looked around. She was in the alley behind some ramshackle bar. The lights flickered and there was blood everywhere; the scene was overall grim. Terra willed herself to walk. Her steps were slow and uncharacteristically imprecise – but this idle saunter was as much as she could currently muster.
Maybe it was the call of the moon, beckoning her just as it did the sea beneath it, or maybe it was simply India's wandering thoughts; either, or, possibly both, lead her to the bar. Not to stick around, not to converse with other lonely late night patrons, no. She wasn't much for company as of late, her head a cacophony of homework for university, of hangovers and an abundance of little nagging things she, thankfully, given her current tipsiness, couldn't remember. What India was in search of upon stepping foot into the dingy establishment was something half as bitter as she was feeling that night. And, once crumpled dollar notes had been exchanged for enough glass bottles to leave her floating, she'd bought one more, and quietly taken her leave. Only to find herself blinking at a woman, and then, talking to her. "Oh my," India murmured. "Do you... do you need help, ma'am?"
