Imsy now available on your computer

Releasing Web client for faster chatting

Many of you have written to us that you prefer to chat with friends using your computer when you are on the desk. We are happy to announce the release of a web version of Imsy that you can use from any browser on a computer. 

How does it work

Go to Bots list in your Imsy app and activate the Imsy Web Client bot. You can click on Configure option and create a password for the web client. Then head to http://web.imsy.com from your computer and login using your full phone number (including country code) and the password you created. You will see all your Imsy Contacts and Groups in the web app. Click on any Contact/Group to start chatting. You can also click on the Edit Profile option at the top of the screen to customize your Profile (especially useful on Nokia S40 phones which does not support this feature yet). 

Message History

Note, the web interface presently does not show your old messages. Support for message history is coming soon.

New fresh interface of Imsy comes to Windows Phones

Today we are releasing a major upgrade to Imsy on Windows Phones. The user interface is completely redesigned. 

The app now has a consistent fresh UI theme as on iPhone, Android. All icons, buttons, and text show in Imsy's own color scheme.

Conversations are shown as chat bubbles.

Full screen image and map viewers are introduced.

Unread messages in the main Messages screen now display a badge count & messages with attachments also have an indicator.

Continuing with our effort to make Imsy UI world-class, we are pushing out some more improvements to the Android version today.

Until now the Contacts, Groups, Bots and Settings options used to be hidden, and were invoked with the Menu key. Now they are housed in a tabbar, making them always visible and easier for you to switch between screens.

Unread messages in the main Messages screen now display a badge count.

a nifty splash screen shows while the app loads in the background - so the overall experience feels faster now :)

The new Imsy version for Symbian is now out

Thanks users for the excellent response to our new version on Android and iOS. Now the new release is available on Symbian (S60 v3, v5 and S^3) phones too. You can download it from www.imsy.com  

Inviting beta testers for Imsy for Blackberry

Imsy now supports all major smartphone and feature handsets, with the obvious exception of Blackberry. We have been working on a Blackberry version of Imsy, with a target of making it available to users end of June.

If you are a Blackberry user or developer, and would like to participate in testing Imsy for Blackberry, please do sign-up for the beta testing.

All new, fresh user interface comes to Imsy

When we first launched Imsy about 9 months back, our top priority was to offer it on all major phone platforms, so that you could invite all your friends to chat for free. We crossed an important milestone about 2 months back, when Imsy was released for Java phones to join versions for iOS, Android, Symbian and Windows Phones.

In our quest to make Imsy available on all major platforms, we did not focus as much on the UI. The result being that we had a fully working and robust messaging system, but one that did not look and feel very good! You of course noticed this and chided us in your many reviews and feedback.

For the past two months we have been hard at work taking in all the suggestions and working on a brand new UI and today we are thrilled to make it available to you.

The new UI is available immediately on Android phones from here and will be available very shortly on Symbian and iOS (awaiting app-store approvals).

In our roadmap, this is just an early UI iteration, and much is to come. So keep watching this space!

As usual, do send us your feedback.

Our users love the breaking news and sports scores alerts delivered through Imsy. On days, when important soccer and cricket matches are live (which is every day, now that IPL is on), we consistently see doubling of new user sign-ups and usage for these services. However, one complaint that we have often received is that some of the news services probably send too many alerts through the day and it is difficult for users to filter the important ones among all the alerts. The problem was particularly acute in case of world news and soccer news - since there is always so much happening in the world.

We have listened to your feedback and have improved the alerting service.

Now, once you get an alert, you will not get another one for at least half hour. If important news happens during this interval, we will store it and send you the digest along with the next alert after a while, so that you get a chance to absorb all the alerts instead of being bombarded by it.

Further, incoming messages from alerting services will come in silent-mode and will not beep the phone. You will see the alert notification on the phone screen, when you look at it, but sound alert will only be played for messages from friends.

If however, you are a hardcore cricket or soccer fan and cannot wait till the next alert to see the latest score, you can simply send a message to the cricket score or soccer news app and get back the latest score in reply.
