Searching For Hope 🖤🌒🎵

As a childhood DV survivor I initially was inspired to write the lyrics after getting unsolicited contact from my mother, who I have been no-contact with for over six years now. As an autistic person, who was just becoming an adult at that time, I was also noticing a lot of patterns between my generational trauma and the ways other oppressed groups talked about theirs, such as the abuse towards BIPOC people perpetuated by governments like the US. This pattern is something I can never forget, and I specifically wrote the lyrics so that this song could reach as many oppressed people as possible.

Personally, I was an abused child. Becoming an adult and figuring out that while I faced abuse due to being queer and specifically trans, most of the horrible things I endured were based in the ableism of my perpetrators. So many things are so intertwined my mind gets scrambled if I think about it for too long. But goddamn it is won’t stop being angry about what I was and still get put through for being disabled and queer and what other people have been put through unfairly for being their authentic selves. How dare they act like our anger is the same as the lives they’ve destroyed??
