Jazz scoffed.  “I’m not taking that bet.”  She tossed her beach bag over the back seat.  “What would we even bet?”

“Dunno,” said Danny.  “We don’t get an allowance.  My snacks?”

“Your snacks are inedible.”

“Speak for yourself.”  Danny rubbed his eyes.  “What about…  I bet that a mermaid ghost will show up before we get to the beach.”

Jazz hummed.  “Alright.  You’re on.  But if I win, you have to do one of my chores.”

Accept a bribery job from Vlad, who claims he'd be willing to just let Danny do whatever while still getting paid. Which sounds great, but it'd mean having to spend more time with Vlad
