Now he’s not so sure what to believe.
The wounded look hasn’t quite left Noah’s wary expression, like this boy was just dangling this hope to snatch it away again and have himself a good laugh.
“…At your place.” Not thrown away.
Actually there??
“I don’t. I.. didn’t. Not me.” He gestured back to his back. “This is the only one I have but.. es sendet kein Signal aus.” He brought his shoulders up and down.
“Und es hat nichts mit Lemuren zu tun.”
He gave the other a stressed look, some torture at the idea that it still wasn’t any closer to working, and that his hopes were brought up and dropped to be brought up again. He scrubbed his hand over his face.
“Auf jeden Fall werde ich eine F bekommen..”
The sudden sounds that the other boy was making got Theo to stop going up the stairs and look at them. It was sweet, seeing their hope of meeting the cat.
But he kept going up, pausing just right outside his door. "Uhm.. Sorry about the mess." but Noah would understand, right?
He pushed the door open and was met with Scooby taking a nap on his bed. "Hey pal, hey girl, you sleepy huh?" he gave her scratches and a long pat while she streeeetched. Then she got very curious about the stranger.
Scooby got up and inched closer to get a WhiFF of the boy. Theo glanced over at Noah.
"She's not usually in the mood for new people, but you can try and pet her.."
His eyes flickered in careful excitement up at Theo, before getting down low to wait for the cat to come closer, letting this first introduction be on her terms.
Then he went for a light scratch on her head, by her ear in that spot that usually cats seemed to love. “Hellooo..” he whispered.
“Du bist so süüüüß. You are. Yes!” He whispered.
Watching Scooby happily meet the other boy (new people meant more scratches and rubs), Theo smiled a little in triumph,
more so when he saw their reaction to meeting a cat.
Scooby was definitely enjoying that.
"Do you.. also have a cat?" the object they were both there to get was suddenly momentarily forgotten.
Noah was grinning now and practically nose to nose with Scooby, to give her all the head scratches and even bop a tiny kiss onto that little baldy spot cats had by their ears.
“Mhm.” He nodded up at Theo, a soft sigh. “She is at home with my family. Her name is Gouda.
She is so fat and so perfect.” He made a face, missing his round cat. “She will be angry with me when i get home.”
Curiosity grew even more at the sight of a very social Scooby and an even more social Noah. The cat purred loudly at getting attention, having no clue or care as to why those boys were there.
"Gouda." he chuckled. "Goud-a name." ha, oh no. Anyways. "Yeah they always are, but they get over it pretty quick. At least she does." maybe Noah's was different.
"You live with your parents? Are they here or in Germany?" he asked, taking a seat on the edge of the bed.
"Scooooooby." He loved it, what a fun name for a cat. Almost as good as Goud-- Whoa. Noah's mouth opened in very amused surprise at having been beaten to the pun. "Yes, exactly." He chuckled.
"With my mom, in Germany. I have a dorm here, but I will go back for the break." He explained. Maybe he could convince her to let him bring Gouda back with him this time.
But they were forgetting the important reason they were here, and quickly, Noah straightened up. "The ball-" Or, orb. As Theo called it. "It's here?"
