d-o stared in surprise at the stranger’s offer. in general they found humans to be confusing, never knowing which were trustworthy and which weren’t. they found themselves becoming more trusting over time, especially with rey, finn, and poe at their back, but knew better than to believe that everyone was like them. which was why this offer was so tempting. they wanted to accept the ice pop, but anxiety kept their hands at their side. what if this woman turned out to be one of the bad ones? “no, thank you,” d-o said, shifting their weight in worry that they sounded rude. “my friend told me i shouldn’t take food from strangers.”

his son thanked her cheerfully, adjusting himself on his assistive device before beginning to open up the ice cream bar. eddie reminded himself to smile, that there was no need to be so tense, even if the last few weeks had been unprecedented, to say the least. “yeah. it’s just a bad cliche, you know? stranger offering a kid a sweet, that type of thing.”

with arms crossed, grace was standing stone still, almost inhumanly so. she was waiting for dani, and the blonde didn’t really know how to relax, how to simply pass the time while she waited. she came to life when someone approached her, ice blue eyes narrowing, expecting the worst, as was in her nature. she was completely taken aback, however, when the ice cream was offered. grace couldn’t even remember what one tasted like. “…thanks…” she murmured, taking it gingerly.

The young waterbender simply blinks as she holds the extra ice cream for a moment, her lips turning downwards slightly in concern. "You're welcome, and are you alright? I'm sorry if I'm intruding." She says as she eats a piece of her own ice cream bar. 

Ethan nodded in thanks, setting the pen beside the rest of them. He needed a break, maybe more coffee, and then her voice cut through his train of thought. “Thanks,” he spoke, face stretching into a small grin. It wasn’t anywhere near done, but he’d take the compliment. “I’m working on an add-on for the university library,” Ethan offered, gesturing to the seat across from him. “Yes, to both - well, to an extent. You said you’ve rebuilt somewhere? That’s impressive.”

while  the  moon  was  a  common  enemy  for  remus ,  the  sun  wasn’t  the  most  kind  either .    he  wanted  to  enjoy  the  weather  but  the  uncomfortable  sweat  on  his  brow  made  it  somewhat  difficult .    at  the  girl’s  gesture ,  even  he  can’t  help  a  large  smile  of  relief .        ❝    can’t  say  no  to  free  ice  cream .   thanks !    appreciate  it .   ❞         especially  since  he’s  not  even  sure  if  he  had  enough  to  get  a  water  from  the  vending  machines .   he  exaims  the  wrapping   &   grins .          ❝    it’s  one  of  my  favorites  too .    must  be  meant  to  be .   ❞

Hermione let out a sigh of relief when she caught up to Crookshanks.  Thank Merlin someone had gotten a hold of him before he took the elevator or stairs to another part of the hotel, who knows how long it would have taken her to find him then .  “Oh thank you so much,” she said smiling and taking him out of the stranger’s arms.  “Yes he certainly is.  I had hoped he would outgrow it or mellow out a bit with age but he it doesn’t seem like he has entirely.  He’s a bit calmer, he doesn’t scratch people as much as he used to when I first got him.  Although that could just be he was scratching because he didn’t like my friend’s rat well not exactly a rat.”

— “what a SWEET gesture,” finnick began, his smile too wide for him to feel shame over his lame pun. “all right, that was not my BEST, i’ll confess to that. what i mean to say is yes— and thank you.” the man wondered if his little boy would like ice cream bars, once his mother and father decided that it was appropriate for him to TRY THEM. all of these exciting decisions ahead brought so much HAPPINESS to finnick’s life, he could not have attempted to describe the joy that he was feeling if he tried. there had been a point when he was so deeply down in hisDESPAIR, that he could not imagine the good things that could come. when ANNIE was in enemy hands…. when all he could do with his own was to knot the ropes over and over again…. it was difficult to know that tomorrow could be better, when TODAY was an endless cycle of awful. and when the sun rose, and nothing changed. in those days, finnick felt grateful that he was not left to stew in his depression alone. he had KATNISS— and he appreciated her. he needed the blend. the mix of effie’s non-understanding, cheerful banter— promises of goodness on the horizon. and the girl-on-fire’s angsty jokes— her poking fun at their pain, and encouraging of his talk of frustration. she did not force him to be OKAY. because he wasn’t. and he wouldn’t be until ANNIEwas returned to him. “that was some good fortune on your part, wasn’t it? even those little things can really turn your day into the right direction, don’t you think?”

— was this some sort of TRICK? jaime almost laughed aloud at his own foolish degree of suspicion. gods, had westeros fucked him up that much? so much so, that he could not accept some ice cream without wondering about this person’s ulterior motive? which clearly did not exist, she was simply being friendly. and she was even SMILING. gods, what had become of him? what happened to that bright-eyed child who wanted for nothing other than to be a bringer ofJUSTICE? he brought a lot more than that in the larger scope of things. still, jaime simply returned her warm grin with one of his own, and offered a polite nod as well. “that is a generous offer on your part,” the man said, without giving an answer at first. he should be hesitant, right? to at least APPEAR as if he needed to mull his answer over first, before he gave it? he’d never been talented at self-restraint. it was not a strength of his— not like his incredible knack for overwhelming IMPULSIVENESS. “yeah, why not? thanks so much for picking me out of the crowd.” jaime paused, before he was bold enough to ask, “what FLAVOR is your extra?”

North’s lips pressed together in a line, nodding curtly at the words. She could tell when somebody didn’t want to be interrupted, didn’t want to talk – namely because she was the same way. But the blonde in front of her was in public, she had to know it was an option. “Where did you learn to do that?” She asked. It couldn’t be helped, North was curious. It wasn’t like sword work was something in her programming.

Looking down at her sword, Annabeth clears her throat and shrugs slightly. "A summer camp, we had the imagination to make up stories and learn to defend ourselves via swords and other things." She explains in her best tone to hide her lying, she hasn't gone out and told everyone she was a demigod and she intended to keep it that way if possible."

Astrid watched her hellhound play tug of war with her and nodded. ‘I would honestly like that,” she answered, nodding. “I’ve never raised a dog before, and I need all the help I can get so I can take care of him. Isn’t that right?” she cooed, scratching his neck, which made his tail wag. ‘You know, I should call you Wag because you wag your tail a log.” Astrid mused with a little laugh, though she felt like it didn’t fit her dog at all.

"I'm definitely glad to hear that, it's nice to be around another good hellhound, it's rare to find kind ones seeing as most other's will try and kill you." She remarks as she bends down and pets him. The name makes Annabeth laugh softly as she makes a face. "How about Shade? Because of how one depends on shade and he'll get big enough to become a good shade spot."

the way that clarke had grown up had certainly not spawned an appreciation for the outdoors, although the six years that she and madi had been the only ones on the surface of the earth had. “well, i don’t want to disturb you if you’re training,” she remarked and took a polite step back. “i was just going on a brief hike.”

“oh, no, if you got it for free, it’s probably a sign that it’s yours.” buck offered a half-hearted smile as he refused the kindness, holding up a hand. were he being honest… buck just couldn’t get his head on straight. ever since he’d run into eddie, he was caught between cloud 9, anddante’s 9th circle. he didn’t know if it was a dream or a nightmare. of course… human interaction was probably nothing he should be turning down, so he added, carefully, “but thanks. seriously.”

The adjustment to life in Woodshore was staggering, to say the least. In any other situation, Peeta would have been happy to welcome summer, but now it was taking the back seat to all the rest. Things that hadn’t bothered him even days before were really getting to him now, always looking over his shoulder. So focused in his own circling thoughts that at first, Peeta didn’t notice someone speaking to him. “Uhm, sure,” he cleared his throat, smiling politely. Sweets felt like a luxury now too – all of this was weird. “Yeah, I’ll take it if you’re not gonna eat it.” Better than it going to waste.

Her smile remains soft as the other takes the popsicle and Katara sits herself down. "I'm definitely not going to, and it's no problem. I didn't want it to go to waste, most people don't realize the luxury of most food." She says, thinking back to when the group had to rummage around for it when they didn't have enough money. "My brother would have a field day here."

“Katara… What a beautiful name.” She smiled again, but kept her eyes close on her movements. It wasn’t a defensive movement but a curious one, a relevant one. She’d seen only one person control water in any sort of way and that was her father. Well, to be fair, she did see Ursula and Morgana do the same. With the help of the trident, all of them could control the waters but Katara only had to wave her hand. “The pleasure is mine. How do you…?” She asked before she could stop herself, her eyes on the frozen ball.

“Used to? What happened? Sorry, you don’t have to answer that.” She went again asking too many questions. “It is different I’ve never seen anything like it before.” Paige had seen a lot being a witch but this, this was completely different.

"Oh, it's no worries, we stopped travelling because the war ended, it was an over a century old war." She explains, her hand reaching up to lightly touch her mother's necklace. "It's an even longer story in detail, but I'm just grateful for it to all be over."
