Summary: Amber has been out too much lately fighting the Sinister Six, you know with great power comes great responsibility... But does it mean losing your girlfriend?
Tags : angst (small), Spider-Woman!Amber Glenn/GN!Reader, some comfort, hurt Amber
Words : 1.3k
an : inspired by the popular monologue of MJ to Peter from the amazing Spider-Man issue 32 (if I'm not wrong) but I changed the reaction and outcome:3 I think it's accurate to a spider hero behavior? Lmkkk
"Could you at least look at me? Please?"
Amber does, slowly turning around until she's facing you, if looking at someone still works behind a mask.
Because her mask means protection, for her identity and directly the people she cares for, not cowardice: wisdom. But in this moment, when she refused to take it off in front of you—her person, her home, the only one who can see her as she truly is even without the mask—is it still wisdom? Because she's not protecting anyone but herself in this moment. She doesn't want you to see her, because you don't only look, you see.
If she took it off, you'd see her lies, the pain she doesn't want to share—can't share—and the fear she can't afford to show. She can't let you read her when her feelings are the last thing that matters tonight. Not when all the Sinister Six were out there, undefeated even after a whole week of Spider-Woman fighting them. After a whole week of your Amber risking her life fighting them. Protecting you and everyone else.
"Amber."
You took a step closer and she took one back, unsure, like a wounded animal, but you don't stop, your hands finding the hem of her mask before you pulled it off yourself. "My Amber, not the spider."
What you see makes you nauseous: bruised Amber, dark circles under her eyes, and a split lip, you're scared to see more skin. Your touch softened more when you cupped her face, what hurt most was seeing her holding back tears in front of you.
"I need to go."
"Hush."
"I have to."
You know you couldn't really ask her to stay, to give up the city, her values and duties, everything that made her the hero she was today. But wasn't she yours first? Was it really that selfish to want her safe? By your side?
"You need a break," you tried, not letting go of her, "just a few hours, please—" She stopped you by placing her hand on yours, closing her eyes. "I am taking a break right now."
"Stop it," you can't help but sob, you didn't want to, but it's knowing she's right, in the worst way possible, that hurts. "A meal, a shower, some sleep, please; let me at least check on your wounds."
"What if, when I sleep, someone needs me? I'm already losing time right now... someone might need me—"
"I need you!" you continued, your voice breaking. "Am I this insignificant to you...?"
"That's not..."
"Losing time? With me?"
It's selfish, you know it is. But what else can you say? Or do? Let her go like this? You know it's part of her job, every time she left there was a possibility of her not coming back, but it wasn't fair, not tonight you couldn't accept it.
"Please, you have to understand, if I don't go back..."
"No, you have to understand!" You let go of her face, pushing at her shoulder angrily. "You want to go back out there? You can't even walk; I bet I could beat you in a fight, and I can't do a third of the things you can!"
"I can't just..."
"I know you can't!"
There's a silence; both of you understand the other, but understanding isn't always enough when nothing changes, when both are right.
"But... Amber...
You're going to die doing this. You're going to die in that stupid costume! And I know that there is nothing I can say to stop you from doing it."
She opened her mouth to say something, but you didn't stop.
"But I never in a million years imagined that I would be tossed off a bridge by a maniac or— or — or wiping your gunshot blood off my clothes so my mom doesn't see it! Someone is going to kill you."
Your voice lowered the more you spoke, hitching into sobs as you fell more into her arms with each words, head against her chest. "I— I can't do this."
Her arms slowly wrapped around you, careful as if you might just break more if she made the wrong move. It's not the warmth of her skin you feel but the tissue of her costume, the barrier more than physical in this moment.
"I... I had no idea you felt that way," she started, "I'm sorry... I never..."
She squeezed you a little bit harder, more for herself now.
"I never meant to hurt you. I thought the only way to protect you was by being outside... the more I could..."
"I was wrong... I was lying to myself... I didn't want to face the truth and have this conversation."
"Pushing you away seemed easier than risking losing you by being there... I was failing everyone when I was in the costume... I forgot how to be Amber... your girlfriend... I forgot how much I needed you, to be me, to... to remind me to think and accept that... I can't—"
"You can always try," you cut her off. Before she could say it, you knew what she thought, where her mind was going. "You do your best, I know that." You pulled back to look at her. "But you need to take care of yourself to save others. Please, just a few hours, let me help you."
She hesitated, you saw her glance at the window and for a second you thought she would slip away from you, disappear in a second and go back. But then she looked back at you, and finally the mask fell, not the Spider-Woman mask, Amber's. And you saw fear, exhaustion and despear, for the first time in a long time she allowed herself to share her pain with someone. She needed you to carry it with her, and that's exactly what you will do for her.
"...I think... I won't say no to some food, and water, anything other than Red Bull and cereal bars."
You chuckled even if it worried you, because at least she had accepted this, at least she knew she couldn't just be the spider. Amber wasn't just a part of her; she was Amber, and vice versa. The chuckle quickly died when you felt her suddenly losing balance, slowly falling against you, and it was with panic that you caught her, carefully laying her on your bed. "Amb? Hey?"
It's the faint mumbles that stop you from losing it. You let out a sigh of relief before kissing her forehead. "I'll get you food and water. I'll be quick."
For a few hours, she stayed with you. You took care of her, patching her up, feeding her, reassuring her, and holding her. For a few hours, she rested, she took a step back, had some sleep. And for a few hours it's the warmth of your girlfriend's body you felt next to you.
But it didn't last, couldn't last.
Before the sun could rise, she was putting the suit on again. You were sleeping until you felt the fresh air of the night on your face, making you open your eyes. You saw her ready to leave, she glanced at you and, when she saw you awake, she took a step closer, but you turned around in your bed. Because if you kissed her goodbye, you might not let her go, your heart might not survive it. Watching her leave was too much, and she knew that. She rested a hand on your shoulder, leaning down to kiss your temple, whispering promises you didn't want to hear, and then retreated, carefully closing the window behind her.
★ amber glenn x fem reader, fluff, like pure fluff, 1.5k words
summary/note: as requested, amber takes reader to a trading card shop, where they get caught kissing and are forced to hard launch :)
—
When Amber left the bed one morning to “check out a nearby Magic shop,” it felt like your duty to come along with her despite the fact you’d never even laid your eyes on a trading card store before.
After all, you guys were dating now. Whatever she was interested in interested you, and you couldn’t help but want to immerse yourself more into her world—even if it meant stepping into completely unknown foreign territory.
“But don’t worry,” she reassured you as she zipped up her jacket, “I’ll be sure to guide you through the whole thing. Talk you through it, you know.”
You just rolled your eyes, laughed, then grabbed the keys to leave.
But now that you two were here, inside the Magic shop, you knew you never felt more confused in your life. Amber, on the other hand, looked like a child in a candy store. Her eyes quite literally glowed, whereas yours were conflicted about where the most interesting place was to look.
Everything was just a piece of plastic on a shelf to you. All of it blended together, nothing really any more interesting than the other on the surface—but for Amber’s sake, you at least needed to try to figure things out around here.
“So…” you began, unsure how to correctly take in your surroundings. “This place looks nice.”
Amber nodded, closely inspecting a box of booster packs. “Yeah, it’s actually not too bad.”
“Really?” You were lying out of your ass and completely made that up, so you were shocked to see that you were right.
“They have some good stuff at an alright price. Other places, they don’t really have them. Or they do, but the stock’s low, so they get pretty expensive pretty quickly.”
“I knew that.” Again, you didn’t. “Also, don’t you think it’s kinda chilly in here?”
Amber diverted her attention from the card packs back to you, where your arms were crossed over your body to calm your slight shivering. “You cold?” she asked, her responsibleness kicking in immediately. “I can give you my jacket. Of course, only if you’re OK with it. I know that we…”
She stopped herself there, glancing over her shoulder anxiously to see if anyone was watching.
Officially, you two hadn’t told the public you were dating yet. It wasn’t like either of you were afraid, god no, but more like…it just didn’t feel like the right thing to do yet. Like maybe, by telling the whole world about it, you would be ruining or jinxing a good thing.
Because this was easy. Keeping it between you and a close circle of friends was easy, uncomplicated. Yours, especially.
But to Amber’s apprehension, you just shrugged. “I don’t mind.”
“Then neither do I,” she said, unzipping her jacket and draping it over your shoulders. Compared to how it fit on Amber, it looked oversized on you. “What, do you want me to zip it up for you, too?”
Obviously, that was a joke, but it didn’t sound like something you would deny at the moment. “Yes, actually,” you said, keeping your arms crossed over each other.
Dutifully, Amber did exactly that and patted your shoulder afterward. “You look comfy,” she commented, barely trying to conceal her snickering. “Adorable, too. Maybe I should take a photo to savor the moment.”
“If you say it like that, then I’ll start to get the feeling I look like an idiot in this.”
“What? No,” she laughed, taking her phone out of her pocket and framing you within the lens. “Come on, say cheese.”
“How stupid do I look right now? Be honest.”
“Very.”
To that, you frowned playfully. “Thanks, Amber,” you said.
“I’m kidding. Well, mostly, anyway. It’s, like, a cute stupid.”
She snapped one last photo before stuffing her phone back into her pocket, then stole one quick peck on your cheek. “Let’s go check out what else they have,” she suggested, pacing in another direction.
In retaliation, you speedily caught up to her and left a kiss of your own on her cheek, to which she responded by doing the same to you.
Amber shook her head, taking this as a challenge. “If you want to play this game, you know you’re not going to w—“
In an instant, you shut her up by planting a kiss on her lips—and that seemed to work more effectively than you thought. Her face turned red right away, and she could only sputter out her next words.
At a loss, Amber held your hand in hers, then pressed a kiss to your knuckles. “That was unfair,” she said. “And cheating.”
“Who cares?” you said. “It’s not like anyone’s going to see us.”
/
Everyone saw you and Amber.
It was trending on Twitter—at least, on the figure skating side—and videos and photos of it spread like wildfire across TikTok and Instagram.
Most of the reception was kind and respectful, but others demanded an explanation and expressed a dire need to know exactly who you were and what you were doing with their beloved Amber Glenn.
You and Amber were doing alright. It didn’t nearly worry you as much as it amused you, in all honesty. The news was bound to come out soon enough, but how it happened was in a way neither of you could have ever anticipated.
“What should we do?” she asked while sitting at the foot of the bed, watching the notifications flood her inbox.
You sat beside her and watched how she was tagged in a new video every minute, all featuring the same photos of you and her holding hands and kissing at that goddamned Magic store. “I don’t know,” you admitted. “It’s my first time having my relationship hard launched for me at a trading card store, with hundreds of thousands of people to see it.”
Amber chuckled. “You and me both,” she said before turning to you, fully meeting your eyes. “But seriously. Anything you want to do or say, I’m in. It’s your choice.”
You contemplated these words for a second. Frankly, it didn’t matter what everyone else thought about your relationship with Amber—what mattered most was that you two could continue being together, normally, just as you were before. But this time, you wouldn’t feel a need to hide it anymore.
“I think they should know about it,” you decided. “Hear it from us.”
“Of course,” she agreed immediately, though you knew she would’ve said it no matter what your decision was. “I—how do you want to say it? I could send a message to my team, or I could make a post online somewhere, or…I don’t know. Whatever you wanna do.”
“We could just,” you began with a shrug, “go on live. Record and make a complete fool of ourselves while answering their questions, just so that they know we’re real.”
Amber snorted. “As opposed to fake?”
“You never know.”
“It’s all AI,” she teased.
“You’re joking, but I’ve seen a lot of people say that.”
“OK,” she said. “We’re going live, then. Like, right now, or..?”
“Right now.”
Since Amber wasn’t the best at navigating her phone, you guided her through the app and changed some of her settings before starting the live, then took a deep breath as she pressed the start button.
“So, hi, everyone,” Amber said. “Oh, wow, that’s a lot of people. Um, yeah, hey. See, look, everyone’s talking about it already,” she told you, showing you the screen and revealing your face on the camera as a result, which made the live chat go even crazier:
OMG IT’S HER
Amber’s gf is so pretty
Wait the pics were real?????
For a moment, you were speechless. The chat was moving faster than you could read, and so you just gave up on reading it altogether.
“Yes, the photos were real,” you said to the camera. “I’m not AI.”
“And she is my girlfriend,” Amber added on. “You probably should have said that first.”
“I think the AI thing was more important.”
“Good point.”
“And…” You squinted, trying to think of another thing to say without the help of the ever-changing chat. “And we’ve been dating for a while now. So, sorry you guys were in the dark about that, even though it’s not really your business.”
Amber looked very entertained, all her focus directed towards you rather than the screen.
You tried racking your brain to say something else, but all you could manage to think and say was this: “And that, actually, was my first time ever stepping into a card shop. Because I wanted to do it. For her.”
“Aww,” she said. “Sweet.”
“And also because I do like her. A lot, actually. I mean, she’s my girlfriend,” you said, then paused.
Neither of you were looking at the screen anymore, nor did you even register it. Simply, it just wasn’t important. If anything, it could have been just the two of you in that room, without the thousands of people watching this very moment.
Your eyebrows creased on their own as you looked her in the eye. “I love her,” you said aloud, an honest admission more than anything else. It just slipped out of your mouth without you even knowing it yourself—just as the truth always does.
Amber smiled back at you, nose crinkling. “And I love her, too,” she whispered.
Maybe the hard launch really wasn’t as much of a bad thing as it seemed.

You had been live for maybe fifteen minutes.
It started as a normal stream just you in your oversized hoodie, sitting cross legged on the couch, phone propped up against a candle while thousands of viewers flooded the comments.
“Okay wait…stop” - you laughed, reading the chat. - “No, I did not dye my hair again. It’s the lighting!”
Hearts and usernames scrolled endlessly.
Being a model meant people were used to seeing you online. Photo shoots, brand deals, little casual lives like this. What they weren’t used to… was seeing much of your personal life.
Especially your love life.
Which was exactly why you’d been careful.
Until tonight.
“Someone asked what I did today” - you said, adjusting the sleeve of your hoodie. - “Um… honestly? Nothing exciting. Grocery run. Gym. I watched-“
A sound came from the kitchen.
Cabinets opening.
You didn’t notice.
The viewers did.
The camera angle was just wide enough to catch the open kitchen behind you. A tall blonde figure padded across the floor in sweatpants and one of your hoodies, hair tied up in a messy bun.
Completely unaware you were live.
“- and then I watched practice videos because apparently I’m being forced to become a professional figure skating fan” - you joked.
WHO IS THAT
WAIT
IS THAT AMBER???
IS THAT AMBER GLENN??
You blinked, confused. - “Why is everyone-“
Behind you, the blonde opened the fridge.
And spoke.
“Babe, did you finish the strawberries?”
The second the word left her mouth, the chat absolutely detonated.
You froze.
Slowly… painfully slowly… you turned around.
There she was.
Amber Glenn stood barefoot in your kitchen, holding the fridge door open, staring at you and your phone with dawning horror.
“Why are you looking at me like that?” - Amber asked.
You pointed at the phone. At the live.
Her eyes followed your finger.
She saw the comments flying.
Her soul visibly left her body.
“Oh my god.”
You slapped your hand over your mouth, half laughing, half dying inside.
“I-okay-so funny story-“
“Are you LIVE?” - Amber whisper shouted.
The chat screamed even louder.
THEY LIVE TOGETHER???
AMBER CALLED HER BABE
HARD LAUNCH???
Amber slowly shut the fridge door like she was in a horror movie.
“You said this was a chill night” - she said.
“It WAS” - you wheezed. - “Until you committed a relationship reveal.”
Amber dragged a hand down her face before looking directly at the camera.
“Well” - she sighed.
Then she walked over and leaned on the back of the couch, appearing fully on screen for the first time.
“Hi internet.”
The comments went nuclear.
You buried your face in your hands. - “This was not how we planned this.”
Amber shrugged, completely calm now.
“Eh” - she said, resting her chin on your shoulder. - “Too late.”
Then she kissed your cheek.
The chat crashed so hard the live froze.
For a solid three seconds.
Then your screen went black.
“…Did it just crash?”
Behind you, Amber groaned.
“Please tell me that means it didn’t save.”
Slowly, you turned around on the couch.
“You called me babe” - you said weakly.
Amber pressed her hands to her face, dragging them down like she was trying to reset her entire life.
“I was asking about strawberries!”
“You did it on camera.”
“I didn’t know you were LIVE!”
You grabbed your phone and reopened the app.
Big mistake.
Your notifications were exploding.
Mentions. Tags. Comments.
The same clip was already circulating everywhere.
A perfectly clear video of Amber standing in your kitchen in one of your hoodies.
“Babe, did you finish the strawberries?”
You dropped your phone onto the couch like it had burned you.
“Oh my god.”
Amber leaned over your shoulder.
“Oh no.”
You opened Twitter.
Trending:
AMBER GLENN
HARD LAUNCH
THE STRAWBERRY INCIDENT
Amber blinked.
“…The strawberry incident?”
“You’ve created lore” - you said faintly.
She leaned back against the couch and sighed dramatically.
“Well” - she said. - “At least they know I have good priorities.”
You turned to stare at her.
“You accidentally revealed that we LIVE TOGETHER.”
“Technically” - Amber said, raising a finger - “I revealed that someone ate the strawberries.”
You shoved her shoulder.
She laughed, pulling you into her side.
“Hey, hey,” - she murmured. - “It’s okay.”
You buried your face in her hoodie.
“This was supposed to be a soft launch.”
Amber kissed the top of your head.
“Baby, you had me in the background of like five photos already.”
“That was ambiguous!”
“You were literally wearing my Team USA jacket.”
“It could’ve been borrowed!”
Amber snorted.
“Sure.”
Your phone buzzed again.
And again.
And again.
You hesitated before opening Instagram.
Your comments were chaos.
IS THAT AMBER GLENN IN YOUR KITCHEN???
WAIT THEY LIVE TOGETHER??
AMBER CALLED HER BABE
I KNEW IT
You groaned.
“I’m never going live again.”
Amber leaned over your shoulder again, reading.
Then she smiled slowly.
“Oh wait.”
“What?”
“You should check my notifications.”
The first comment under her latest skating photo read:
bro when were you gonna tell us you live with a supermodel
Amber burst out laughing.
“You’re the headline now.”
You smacked her arm.
“This is your fault!”
She grabbed your hand before you could pull away.
“Okay but” - she said softly - “are you actually upset?”
You paused.
Because… honestly?
No.
Your life was already public.
But the relationship with Amber had been the one thing that felt yours.
Private. Safe.
You squeezed her hand.
“I just didn’t expect the internet to find out because of strawberries.”
Amber grinned.
“That’s pretty iconic though.”
You tried to stay serious.
You failed.
Soon you were both laughing on the couch.
Eventually Amber nudged you.
“You know what the real problem is.”
“What?”
She stood up and walked back to the kitchen.
You watched as she opened the fridge again.
Completely empty of strawberries.
Amber turned around dramatically.
“You DID finish them.”
You pointed at her.
“You’re the one who ate half the container this morning!”
“That’s slander.”
“You had strawberry juice on your face!”
Amber gasped.
“Defamation.”
You rolled your eyes.
“You’re unbelievable.”
Amber leaned against the counter, arms crossed, smiling at you.
Then her eyes softened.
“Come here.”
You walked over.
She wrapped her arms around you automatically.
Your head fit perfectly under her chin.
The apartment was quiet again now.
Just the hum of the fridge and distant city noise.
“Guess we’re public now” - you murmured.
Amber kissed your temple.
“Guess so.”
“Are you okay with that?”
She didn’t hesitate.
“With you?”
She tilted your chin up so you had to look at her.
“Always.”
Your heart melted a little.
“You’re being suspiciously sweet.”
Amber smirked.
“Don’t get used to it.”
You narrowed your eyes.
“Oh no.”
She grabbed your phone off the counter.
“Amber-”
Too late.
She flipped the camera on.
Your eyes widened.
“DON’T.”
Amber grinned at the screen.
“Hi guys.”
You tried to hide your face.
“Amber Glenn you PUT that down-”
She wrapped an arm around you so you couldn’t escape.
“This is my girlfriend” - she said proudly.
You groaned into her shoulder.
“Second launch” - she said cheerfully.
“Harder launch.”
“AMBER.”
She kissed your cheek loudly.
Amber finally ended the video after about twenty seconds.
You stared at her in disbelief.
“You’re insane.”
She looked very pleased with herself.
“Too late now.”
You sighed.
“Yeah.”
A beat passed.
Then Amber nudged you toward the couch again.
“Movie?”
“Only if you apologize for the strawberry incident.”
Amber thought for a moment.
Then she reached into the freezer.
Pulled out a hidden box.
Inside?
Chocolate covered strawberries.
You gasped.
“You were hiding those??”
She shrugged.
“Emergency supply.”
You grabbed one immediately.
Amber watched you with a soft smile.
“What?” - you asked, mouth half full.
She shook her head.
“Nothing.”
“You’re staring.”
“You’re cute.”
You narrowed your eyes again.
“You’re still in trouble.”
Amber leaned forward and kissed you slowly.
“Worth it.”
⸻
You woke up to chaos.
Not the dramatic kind.
The internet kind.
Your phone had been buzzing nonstop on the nightstand for at least ten minutes before you finally groaned and reached for it.
Beside you, Amber was still asleep, half buried under the blankets, one arm loosely around your waist.
You unlocked your phone.
Immediately regretted it.
Your notifications looked like a disaster zone.
Instagram: 48,000 notifications.
Twitter: completely unusable.
TikTok: you didn't even want to open it.
You rubbed your eyes.
“What the…”
You tapped Twitter first.
The top trending topics stared back at you.
#AmberGlenn
#TheStrawberryIncident
#AmberHasAGirlfriend
#ModelGirlfriendReveal
You stared at the screen.
“No way.”
Amber shifted beside you, mumbling sleepily.
“What time is it…”
“You’re trending” - you said.
She made a confused noise.
“What?”
“You’re trending.”
“…For skating?”
You slowly turned your phone so she could see the screen.
Amber blinked.
Then blinked again.
Then fully woke up.
“Oh my god.”
You opened one of the trending clips.
It was the moment.
Amber in the kitchen. Hair messy. Your hoodie on. Opening the fridge.
Babe, did you finish the strawberries?
The video had over 14 million views.
Amber dropped back onto the pillow.
“I’m never recovering from this.”
You kept scrolling.
The skating fandom had clearly discovered the clip overnight.
Tweets were flying everywhere.
AMBER GLENN HAS A GIRLFRIEND???
WAIT SHE CALLED HER BABE
THIS IS THE CUTEST HARD LAUNCH EVER
NOT THE STRAWBERRIES
One tweet had over 200k likes.
Amber Glenn accidentally hard launching her relationship while asking about strawberries is the most on brand thing I've ever seen.
Amber groaned into the pillow.
“I hate the internet.”
“You absolutely do not” - you said.
Another tweet appeared.
the fact amber glenn is just barefoot in the kitchen wearing her girlfriend's hoodie… domestic lesbian excellence
Amber peeked up.
“…Okay that one’s nice.”
You laughed.
Then you checked TikTok.
Your jaw dropped.
Compilation edits already existed.
Clips of Amber skating transitions into the livestream moment.
Dramatic music. Slow motion.
Someone had zoomed in on her saying babe like it was a cinematic confession.
Amber leaned over your shoulder.
“Oh my god they edited my triple axel into the strawberry clip.”
“They’re shipping us” - you said.
“They’re what?”
“Look.”
You scrolled.
Fan edits. Relationship theories. Side-by-side photos of you wearing her jackets. Old interviews where Amber mentioned “someone special.”
Amber stared in horror.
“They were INVESTIGATING.”
“Oh they’ve been investigating for months” - you said.
Then your phone buzzed again.
A text from your manager.
CALL ME ASAP
Amber saw the message.
“…Am I getting you in trouble?”
You shrugged.
“Probably.”
Your phone buzzed again.
Another text.
This time from one of Amber’s skating friends.
She opened it.
It was a screenshot of the clip.
Followed by:
bro you got caught by strawberries
Amber rolled onto her back.
“I’m quitting skating.”
“You just won a competition two weeks ago.”
“I’m retiring immediately.”
You laughed.
Then your phone buzzed again.
Instagram DM.
Amber leaned closer.
“Oh no.”
You opened it.
It was from a fan account dedicated to Amber.
The message read:
we support you both btw and your girlfriend is gorgeous
You softened a little.
“Oh.”
Amber looked at the message.
Then she smiled quietly.
“That’s nice.”
More messages kept coming.
Some from fans. Some from brands. Some from friends.
One from your modeling agency that simply said:
honestly the engagement is insane keep doing whatever you're doing
Amber burst out laughing.
“You’re welcome.”
You shoved her shoulder.
“You caused this.”
“You’re benefiting from it!”
Another notification popped up.
A sports account had posted the clip.
Caption:
Olympic figure skating star Amber Glenn accidentally reveals she lives with her model girlfriend during livestream.
Amber pointed.
“STAR?”
“Focus.”
She shrugged.
“I’m focusing on the positive.”
You groaned and dropped your phone onto the bed.
Amber rolled over and propped herself up on her elbow, looking down at you.
“But…”
“But what?”
She brushed a piece of hair from your face.
“Everyone seems pretty happy about it.”
You thought about the comments again.
The edits.
The support messages.
The ridiculous strawberry memes.
“…Yeah” - you admitted.
Amber smiled.
“See?”
Then she leaned down and kissed you softly.
Your phone buzzed again.
You ignored it.
A moment later Amber pulled back.
“…Wait.”
“What?”
She grabbed your phone again.
Opened TikTok.
Then held it up.
Someone had already made merch.
A shirt that said:
Did you finish the strawberries?
You stared.
Amber stared.
Then she started laughing so hard she nearly fell off the bed.
“Okay” - she said between laughs.
“That’s actually iconic.”

Competitions were usually loud.
But the media zone after a competition was louder.
Cameras. Microphones. Reporters calling names.
You stood near the edge of the rink boards, tucked into a seat with a hoodie pulled over your head and a credential badge around your neck. Amber had insisted you come to this one.
“Good luck charm” - she had said.
You hadn’t expected the entire internet to already know who you were.
Amber had just finished skating. And she had been incredible.
The crowd was still buzzing about it as she stepped into the media area, hair slightly damp with sweat, medal resting against her chest.
A reporter immediately spoke up.
“Amber! Amazing skate tonight!”
She smiled politely. - “Thank you.”
Another reporter leaned forward.
“So… we have to ask.”
Amber’s expression immediately shifted into cautious amusement. - “Oh no.”
A few reporters laughed.
“You probably know what we’re referring to” - sne said.
“Do I?” - Amber asked, though the smile tugging at her mouth said she absolutely did.
“The livestream.”
Another reporter added - “The strawberries.”
Amber groaned softly and covered her face for a second. The room laughed.
“Okay” - she said. - “In my defense-“
“You didn’t know you were live?” - someone finished.
“Exactly.”
Another microphone pushed forward.
“Fans were really excited to see that moment. Are you comfortable talking about your relationship?”
Amber glanced toward the stands for just a second.
Your eyes met. She smiled. Then she turned back to the reporters.
“Yeah” - she said simply.
Another question came quickly.
“So the mystery girlfriend does exist.”
Amber laughed. - “Yes.”
“Can you tell us anything about her?”
Amber tilted her head, thinking.
“Well” - she said slowly - “she’s very patient.”
The reporters chuckled.
“She eats my strawberries” - Amber added.
More laughter.
“But seriously” - she continued, her voice softening just a little. - “She’s amazing. And she’s been incredibly supportive through everything.”
Your face felt warm even from across the rink.
One reporter asked carefully - “Has the attention been overwhelming?”
Amber shrugged. - “A little.”
Then she smiled again.
“But the support has been really nice.”
Another reporter raised their voice slightly.
“Will we be seeing more of you two publicly now?”
Amber pretended to think about it. - “Hm.”
She glanced back toward the stands again.
You raised your eyebrows at her.
She grinned.
“Probably” - she admitted.
The reporters looked pleased.
“Last question” - someone said.
“If she’s here tonight, do you want to say anything to her?”
Amber didn’t hesitate this time.
She turned fully toward the stands. Toward you.
Even from a distance you could see the warmth in her expression.
“Yeah” - she said into the microphone.
Your heart jumped.
“Next time” - Amber said - “don’t eat the strawberries.”
The room erupted in laughter.
You buried your face in your hands.
Amber was absolutely glowing.
Then she added quietly, still looking at you - “Love you.”
Summary or how Amber and you would act after a fight

A/n I might smooch the person who'll have the reference for the title of this one :> anyway, was very inspired and wanted to post something while writing other amber stuff... Enjoyy thank you Ilo for proofreading
You two rarely fight, and when you do it is over small and unserious things like who's opening the door for whom, why you stopped scratching her back, or how she could forget to text you when she leaves the rink — seriously, you were so worried, who knows what could have happened!
If it's serious, however, when someone is hurt or mad, there's no yelling, never, but it's not silent either. Amber is all about communication and always encourages you to tell her things, at your own pace, sure, she has all the time in the world. Even if she has to sit next to you, her hand going through your hair when you need it, or a few feet away when you're very tense. And this for as long as you need.
It can be hard for you to open up, this feeling of baring your heart to someone, like standing at the edge of a cliff with your eyes closed while that person is holding you. The fear of being pushed coexisting with the trust you have in them to keep you there.
Amber understood. She never pushed, even when she was mad herself. No yelling or impulsive words, a deep breath you two would take, a moment to think, and then the conversation. Because with the trust came the love, the patience, and then the conversation.
"Let's talk, I want to understand where it went wrong."
The theory was easier than practice, always. Sometimes one would get angry, push the other away, be dry or harsh, creating distance and more confusion than before, hurting both of you. But every time you two would break apart, you'd end up coming back newer, wiser maybe, but mostly more conscious about the importance of communication.
"I know you didn't mean to, we can talk about it now, it's fine, we're both trying our best."
Sometimes the wound, even if really well taken care of, would take time to heal, but you two, together, were everything you cared about, more than just two people. Stronger together, intermingled in both a quiet and a loud way.
"I need time, I'm not mad, I want you with me always, but I need time to get over it."
Amber would stay by your side, sometimes she would allow herself to miss one training session to stay with you. You told her not to, but she's as stubborn as you and wouldn't listen.
"Let me be here."
It doesn't mean you two would stick together again immediately, it'd take time and care. She would bring you water without you asking, whenever she would go to the kitchen if you were really into your task. She would cook with you or for you, let you be quiet while she was there, and allow you to slide your cold feet under her thighs in winter without complaining, both of you slowly coming back towards each other until everything was forgiven and behind you.
You'd do the same: still preparing her bag every morning, checking on her when she was out — with fewer emojis, don't push it — preparing her bath after her long days which often led into a shared one and immediate closeness again, more apologies and talk before it changed into kisses and cuddles.
It is hard to stay apart from the person you love with all your soul, Amber was your anchor, your everything. The person you'd come to for everything, no matter if you were sad or happy, she was the first you thought about. Amber just did this, making you feel safe no matter what was going on, her presence only was enough to soothe you.
"I wish we could have done things differently, I don't want you hurting because of me."
"It's okay, it happens. I'm always here for you, even when things get complicated, especially when they do."
