❝Jeez, just when you think maybe a guy might not be a total dickwad...❞
"Electrocute me?" He almost threw his head back and laughed, but decided better of it. He stood, put his hands up as if he were being arrested, before sweeping his jacket back. He pulled out his two pistols, flipped the safety off and pointed them in her direction.
"Now, I think you’re getting a little ahead of yourself. We should talk before we start getting violent, don’t you think?"
— [ϟ] — Thalia quirks an eyebrow at the man's guns, fighting the urge to roll her eyes. It'd be inappropriate, considering there's the open carcass of some poor person rotting in the alley between them. She takes to looking at her nails, pushing the cuticles back with the opposite hand.
❝Put the guns down, Sparky. Even if you shoot to kill, I'll just respawn. I've figured out how this place works.❞ Thalia looks back to the man, idly flexing her fingers, gathering a fistful of electric blue sparks. Enough to stun a grizzly bear, let alone a man. ❝I'm a demigod, dude. A literal one. You think a couple of guns scare me?❞

"Going back to the stone age then, are we?" Annabeth asks, grinning cheekily.
But honestly anything would be better than the pieces of junk they’ve been handed. Without any real weapons, Thalia’s right. The two of them are defenceless. Well… unless they run into something that’s afraid of a flimsy cardboard spear and the idea of getting some splinters, that is.
Eventually they end up sitting together on a wooden bench, watching the people of Hive City go about their day. The comfortable silence between them isn’t odd considering Thalia is family. It isn’t tight like it can be between strangers. It’s nice.
Thalia mentions being restless and Annabeth hums for a second. “Hmm… Yeah I guess sitting around like this was never your style, was it? You and your hunters must always be on the move.”
There was a time Annabeth considered joining the hunters, and while there was more than one reason she didn’t, one of the reasons she didn’t join was because she needed somewhere to call home. She’d spent so long running with Thalia and Luke that once she finally got to Camp Half-Blood, the first place she could call home, she couldn’t give it up.
She swings her legs once before standing. “We could fight some test subjects. It’s been a while since I’ve fought with you. It’ll be good to train with you again.”
— [ϟ] — ❝Sounds good.❞ Thalia hops to her feet after Annabeth does, cracking her neck and yawning. ❝First, though, how 'bout we check out Epsilon? You said you haven't seen it yet, and neither have I. Might be interesting to see what your living conditions are like.❞
Thalia wanders alongside Annabeth, checking her map occasionally; the closer they get to where Epsilon is supposed to be, the worse Thalia feels about the place. Her suspicions are only confirmed when she finds the entrance to Annabeth's new home: a rotting spiral staircase leading down to what must have once been a handsome library. Thalia coughs as they descend, shielding her mouth and nose.
❝Gods, it reeks.❞ Thalia wrinkles her nose. ❝It's like there's mold growing on the air molecules in this place.❞
With her feet firmly on the ground of Epsilon, Thalia looks around, taking note of the Greco-Roman architecture; the towering, decaying shelves; and the scrolls and scrolls of molded-over knowledge, spanning seemingly forever. Thalia snorts.
❝Figures you'd be housed in a crusty old library. How's that for ironic?❞ She shakes her head. ❝You get stuck in this place, while I'm put up in a literal sewer. Yeah...we need to find out how to get ourselves a decent place to live.❞
【★】Even though he wished he came off as masculine, the truth was, he really didn’t. He tried to be that douchebag everyone ends up loving despite their shitty personality, but sometimes he comes off as a decent human being.
”Huh? Well, ‘m pretty damn new here, and I still don’t know my way around or anythin’, so I can’t really help ya’ much, but the place I work at has people who sing and shit! They let me sing when I ain’t workin’.”
— [ϟ] — ❝Lame.❞ Thalia sighs. She'd hoped this guy would at least know of cool places to visit in Hive City...though his work seems interesting. She cocks her head to the side, intrigued.
❝Where do you work...? A club or something?❞

Haruki’s seen a lot in her life as an assassin. Mostly people wanting other people killed, and some deep and meaningful lessons about human morality. But in all her odd jobs and assignments, she can pretty safely say she’s never had to deal with wolves. Also, she’s never really been told not to kill something. This was a marked first for her. The time for reflection is long passed, though, as one of those wolves decides to launch itself at the former assassin.
"I’m not the type to judge, but…"
The redhead grunts, brings an arm up and ducks under the wolf smoothly, shouldering hard into its gut and forcing it to the ground. "…just what did you do to make these things angry?"
— [ϟ] — ❝I have no freaking idea!❞ Thalia swipes at another wolf, knocking it out. ❝I was just exploring! I probably -- I dunno -- disturbed their den or something.❞
Or stole their kill. The dead rabbit in Thalia's pack doesn't need to come to the other girl's attention, though. The last thing she wants is some stranger pitying her because she needs to scrounge for food. Again.
❝Thanks for helping me,❞ Thalia grunts, shocking one of the mutts as it lunges for her. ❝Sorry for leading them to -- Hey, watch it!❞
Thalia inhales sharply as one of the remaining conscious wolves leaps for the redhead, fangs bared.

— [ϟ] — ❝Hey, look out!❞
Thalia goes barreling toward the redheaded stranger, swinging her spear over her head and using it to scare off one of the wolves pursuing her. Wolves. It always has to be wolves, doesn't it? Thalia grits her teeth, secures her stance, and glances at the girl as a few more wolves come hurtling closer, snapping their jaws.
❝Don't kill them,❞ she says, assuming the girl can defend herself. ❝Apparently they're someone's pet -- and I don't know about you, but I doubt there's many people here whose bad side I want to be on.❞
As she speaks, Thalia hits a wolf on the back of the head with the blunt side of her spear, causing the beast to whine and shake itself in confusion.

Annabeth appreciates the hug and presses into it briefly. “Yeah. We’ll be the ones in the spotlight this time.” She grins a little, nudging Thalia with her hip.
She frowns as Thalia tells her that there is no way out of the city. Annabeth has spent more than enough time being trapped inside things. The labyrinth when she was fourteen; the confrontation with Arachne not that long ago; Tartarus even more recently. Hive City is ust another to add to the list it seems.
This time she’s the one to stop walking. “The end of the world again? Murderers?”
"How are we supposed to protect ourselves in this place with a wooden knife and a cardboard spear?"
Annabeth can deal with the end of the world. She can deal with things trying to kill her. She’s been dealing with both those things since she was born. But she has to wonder if she deserves a break from it yet.
She nods at Thalia’s suggestion. “Yeah, of course I would. As much fun as living on the run with you was, it’s not something I’m eager to revisit just yet. But, living with my best friend in a house? Now that sounds fun.”
— [ϟ] — Thalia smiles slightly when Annabeth refers to her again as her "best friend." Thalia's been a hunter for a long time; she's basically considered herself as separate from the other demigods since she took the oath. While the others fought for the camp -- for Olympus -- Thalia and the other hunters fought more or less for themselves. For whatever Artemis wanted.
Still, Thalia has never stopped thinking about Annabeth as her best friend -- as a part of her family. It's a relief to hear that Annabeth feels the same way about Thalia, even after all this time.
❝I started making myself an alternate spear,❞ Thalia explains, ❝out of a pipe I found in my district. It's going to take awhile to finish it; I only get to use electrokinesis three times a day, and my stove is kind of a crappy welding instrument.❞ She chuckles. ❝The point is, though, I bet we could make you a knife out of some stone if we worked at it. It's really not enough for us to defend ourselves with toy weapons.❞
At some point, the girls find themselves sitting on a wooden bench, watching passers-by. Thalia heaves a sigh.
❝We should do something...,❞ she mutters. ❝Go into a district and fight some test subjects. Play a game. I dunno. I'm just getting so restless.❞
Riful’s eyes flashed surprise for a moment, though her calm smile stayed. What a rude girl. She expected at least a little respect. It was like this girl expected Riful to bow to her will.
"My goodness, myou certainly are a ruder new, are’t you? Getting all huffed up over hypothetical following, maybe I will follow you now, just because you were so rude. As for having a right, don’t need one. I do what a like regardless of what people think."
— [ϟ] — ❝You're a pain in the ass.❞ Thalia snorts out a laugh. ❝What a pompous, arrogant person. Seriously, you're like a badly-written book character or something. You can't 'do what you like' if what you like is invading people's privacy.❞
❝Go ahead and follow me if you want. It's not like you're going to hurt me. And I don't have secrets.❞ Thalia tosses her head, places her hands on her hips, and starts walking away, leaving the hypothetical stalker behind.

swaggle up / asuka n thalia
ilektrikos
✜ – this city was awfully big, asuka was beginning to realise. she’d been here for a while now, yes, but that didn’t mean she had explored even half of what there was to see. it’s not like she had the resources to go about most of them; not when the city had placed her in one of the ‘poorer’ parts of the place ––– honestly, the nerve!
how dare they place her, asuka langley shikinami, in an area surrounded by losers and weirdos, how dare they strip her of her well-earned titles and place her in the wreck they call an apartment! she was fuming silently as she made her way down one of the streets, head down, red hair blowing in the wind as her lower lip stuck out in a pout.
it didn’t help that she was lost.
❝ YOU, ❞ she called to a girl close to her; too proud to simply ask for directions. ❝ what part of the city am i in? ❞
— [ϟ] — Thalia is making the rounds through the shopping district, getting her hands on as much stolen food as possible -- when someone calls her name, in a bossy sort of tone. Thalia glances over to see a pretty girl around her age, wearing head-to-toe red and a fiery expression. She raises her eyebrows at the redhead.
❝You're asking the wrong person. I'm new here.❞ Thalia gestures vaguely around. ❝All I know about this place is that it's the sector where all the stores are. Beyond that, it's all --❞
Thalia trails off as a second, angry voice filters into her awareness -- that of the store owner whose strawberries she just stole. He's barreling down the street, directly toward Thalia and the stranger, shouting, YOU TWO! STOP RIGHT THERE! Thalia clucks her tongue in dissatisfaction.
❝Crap.❞
The man is faster than she anticipated -- he's upon them in a few short strides, and before Thalia can think, her reflexes take over. She presses a hand to the man's chest, administering an electric shock. It's not much -- just enough to knock him backwards and stun him a little -- but Thalia feels a flood of panic all the same. It's been a long time since she's accidentally used her powers.
❝C'mon,❞ she mutters, seizing the strange girl's forearm and hastily steering her out of the way of public sight. ❝Sorry, but it looks like you just accidentally made yourself my accomplice.❞
The stitches themselves began as something slight, something experimental. Since he already possessed a lack of pain from greater injuries than the brief pricks of needles as they threaded through his skin, it meant next to nothing to clip ears with piercings, to scar lips with tight red patterns and to lace detailed patterns like a spider conjuring a web within his skin. As the female spoke, he picked at a loose thread, undoing it from beneath his skin as he tugged it loose bit by bit. The sensation was next to nothing, therefore the action appeared perhaps far more hurried than most ordinary people would have liked, but he paid no mind to what anybody thought. When did he ever?
"Oh I know the feeling! Not that I’d change for them anyway! I think they look awesome so I do what I want!”
He beamed at her as the last of the first section of red string came out between his fingers, the thread coiling within his palm before he tossed it away.
"The people I worked with were always asking me about it but I threatened to sew their annoying mouths shut if they carried on, ha! I don’t think I’ve ever seen you before… my name is Juuzou Suzuya. It’s so cool to meet someone else who appreciates body mods.” He extended a hand to her, one still sewn with intricate crosses as opposed to his newly un-threaded other.
— [ϟ] — Thalia's eyes widen as the young man begins unraveling the threads on one palm; it looks like painful work, but she's beginning to sense what's "painful" for one person is not so for this guy. It's a little scary...but mostly, she's impressed.
Thalia grins and giggles when the guy offers his hand, along with his name. She takes his palm against hers, feeling the serration of stitching against her skin as she shakes hands. ❝You're kind of a weird guy, huh? Well, that's cool with me. Weird is kind of the norm where I'm from.❞
❝I'm Thalia Grace, daughter of Zeus. You haven't seen me because...well, I'm new here. Like...brand new. I hardly know my ass from my elbow.❞
It's a little embarrassing, honestly, for someone as skilled at navigation as Thalia to be so hopelessly lost, but...she isn't interested in preserving her pride at the moment. In fact, if this guy is a veteran...
❝You wouldn't happen to know if there are any other kids like me here, would you? Children of Greek gods. I know my friend Annabeth -- a pretty girl with blonde, curly hair -- is here, but I don't know about anyone else. It's kind of bumming me out.❞
【★】"Mhm! I like to flaunt of all my piercings, well, I mean, the one’s I can show. I like to keep it PG in public. — Oh? Really? Heh, ‘m glad! Usually people hate it. Ya’ got good taste."
— [ϟ] — In all honesty, the beard is sort of -- okay, really weird. But this guy seems nice, as guys go. He's young, and doesn't seem overly-masculine, which is never a trait Thalia likes. They could be friends, maybe. She bets he's got good music taste.
❝Hey, you probably know where there's cool stuff around here; any live music venues or anything? I've been seriously bored.❞
“Ooh, you too? Same here!” Though it doesn’t take much to notice the idea of mercenary work doesn’t seem to appeal to this girl. Fellow warrior person… Yep. Should she ask? …Maybe later? "I’m part of the Hive City Royal Guard, too! You know Princess Sonia Nevermind? She’s looking to hire more bodyguards. I haven’t personally met her yet but I’m scheduled for an interview soon. Ooh, and there’s the Hive City police force. Not that I’m a part of that one but you think that could be an option? Busting miscreants and the like?"
— [ϟ] — ❝Police work...probably isn't my thing. I mean, I've never been particularly fond of cops, so...❞ Thalia shrugs. The thing about the "Royal Guard" piques her interest, though, so she raises her eyebrow at the other girl. ❝Royal guard...? Hive City has royalty...?❞
Thalia isn't so sure how much she'd like working for some stiff nobody who's in charge of a place like this, but it would be easy money...she's never exactly worked as a bodyguard before, but she's a warrior. She'd be more than suited for the job.

" Fifteen, huh? Call me in five years and we got a deal. " He replied nonchalantly back to her. Despite everything Kagura was he didn’t chase around after minors.
" Discreet? Portable? " He let out an amused laugh. " Sounds kinda boring, sunshine. Where I’m from it doesn’t matter how subtle or portable your weapon is if it doesn’t kill the enemy in front of you. And some are quite stubborn.
I’m a, well, I used to be a General. Let the assassins carry the daggers, I need something that suits me on the battlefield where anything from knights to dragons may appear. “
It also helps having something immensely sturdy when your fighting style was based on coating your blade with fire. Rapiers and the like only started to bend or melt if he applied his technique repeatedly onto them.
— [ϟ] — ❝Gods, you're annoying. In five years, I'll be the same age, and even if I weren't, I wouldn't be interested. What makes you think I would?❞
Men are honestly baffling. Thalia never ceases to be amazed at how they can all be the same: arrogant, egocentric, self-serving, pompous. Any qualms she's ever had about joining the hunters of Artemis, and ridding herself of men altogether, have since officially been stomped down.
❝Let me give you some advice, dude: If you go around assuming every girl in the world wants your nuts, you're going to make people think you're an asshole. Honestly? You come off as kind of an asshole to me. I get the feeling you're not a terrible person, though, so...just...consider changing the way you talk to girls. You're not some great prize to be won, even if you are moderately attractive and apparently good at some stuff.❞
❝Also, y'know.❞ Thalia rises from where she's sitting, cracks her neck. ❝I've taken down drakons with a lot less than what you're packing. If you need something big and obnoxious to take down a simple enemy...maybe you need to reconsider your skills.❞
@ilektrikos
Onda barely has time to look up, much less flee the scene, when he hears footsteps. Well fuck. Oopsie daisy.
"Hhhhhiiiiiiii." He drew the word out long. The scene was set as such; a cute young man (Onda), knelt in front of a freshly dead man (Considering how the pool of blood wasn’t dried or anything), and Onda currently had his chest open and was extracting organs.
As sanitary like as he could, of course. Rubber gloves, properly sanitized tools. He might be taking organs from a dead man in an alleyway, but he had standards.
"Okay, so. This. This looks worse than it is."
— [ϟ] — Thalia's seen some hairy stuff in her day. As a demigoddess (and a hunter, no less), she's used to all kinds of monsters, some of which, admittedly, maim and disembowel people. She's no stranger to human death or dismemberment.
This, though...this is something different.
Thalia doesn't know if this guy killed the person whose organs he's apparently harvesting, but she doesn't care; he's desecrating a corpse, which means burial rites can't be properly performed. She thinks Nico di Angelo's eyes would just about roll into the back of his head if he got a load of this mockery of the dead. Her eyes narrow.
❝Put the organs back.❞
She reaches behind herself for the crude spear she fashioned for herself out of a pipe; it cost her three days' worth of electrokinesis, and she burned her fingers a few times welding with a lighter, but it was well-worth it. Certainly better than that cardboard hunk of crap they gave her.
❝Don't bother stitching the corpse back up. Just...leave it, get the hell out of here, and I won't be tempted to electrocute you.❞
