Concept:

Simon shows up in the biodome in typical bloodymary fashion and Grace seems too nice and good to be real/ genuine, but then he notices that Grace gets literally everything he even mentions wanting, and he assumes Grace is taking advantage of his Savior title to get stuff. It's actually really reassuring that he's flawed like that— enough that Simon lets himself get to know Grace and all of his smaller human flaws and is kinda confused because the man he knows doesn't seem like the type to ask for anything?

And then Rocky shows up one day talking about a greenhouse expansion and Grace is like "dude! we didn't even ask him if he wanted that! why would you build a whole extra space without asking?!" and Rocky who still does not really like Simon (his codependent bff has another important person that can help him in ways Rocky never could) just says "Simon happy makes Grace happy."

And as they argue about Rocky always doing things for Grace without asking first, Simon is struck with the realization that, no, Grace isn't even asking for the stuff he has. Rocky just loves him enough to give it to him anyways, even if making Grace happy means doing something kind for the guy he obviously dislikes. Simon likes Rocky a lot more after that.

Trying to give Grace and Simon similar trauma to what they have in the source materials in a modern/ earth au feels like I'm 14 years old on Wattpad torturing my favorite ocs.

Simon is weirdly easier to adapt even with objectively worse trauma because Earth has cults and ecoterrorists and prisons and the military and submarines and people hallucinate all the time, but Grace?

How tf do you give Grace "My only friends betrayed me and sent me to space to die and I was alone for weeks and I almost did die but my alien friend saved me from malnutrition after i tried to die for him" trauma without making him into the glass bones and paper skin meme??
