“Normal Anxiety” Versus Generalised Anxiety Disorder
The difference between “normal” worrying and generalized anxiety disorder is that the worrying involved in GAD is excessive, intrusive, persistent and debilitating. With normal anxiety:
1.Your worrying doesn’t get in the way of your daily activities and responsibilities. 2. You’re able to control your worrying. 3. Your worries, while unpleasant, don’t cause significant distress. 4. Your worries are limited to a specific, small number of realistic concerns. 5. Your bouts of worrying last for only a short time period.
However, with Generalised Anxiety Disorder 1. Your worrying significantly disrupts your job, activities, or social life. 2. Your worrying is uncontrollable. 3. Your worries are extremely upsetting and stressful. 4. You worry about all sorts of things, and tend to expect the worst. 5. You’ve been worrying almost every day for at least six months. Most people with GAD experience a combination of emotional, behavioral, and physical symptoms.
Emotional symptoms • Constant worries running through your head • Feeling like your anxiety is uncontrollable • Intrusive thoughts about things that make you anxious; you try to avoid thinking about them, but you can’t • An inability to tolerate uncertainty • A pervasive feeling of apprehension or dread
Behavioral symptoms • Inability to relax, enjoy quiet time, or be by yourself • Difficulty concentrating or focusing on things • Putting things off because you feel overwhelmed • Avoiding situations that make you anxious
Physical symptoms • Feeling tense; having muscle tightness or body aches • Having trouble falling asleep or staying asleep because your mind won’t quit • Feeling edgy, restless, or jumpy • Stomach problems, nausea, diarrhea.
Note: If you’ve struggled with anxiety and fears your whole life, it’s likely that your anxiety symptoms are due to GAD; if your anxiety symptoms are relatively new, this could be a sign of a different problem. Source: http://www.helpguide.org/mental/generalized_anxiety_disorder.htm

I’ll have dirt on my feet and stars in my eyes, I’ll be in the forest where the earth comes alive.
Alexandra (via etrezomp-ni–kelted)
wake up and rise, sweet child. feel the soil beneath your bare feet and the sun’s warmth on your naked skin and remember. remember our mother. our true ancestral mother and sing to her your heart songs. she will guide you. she will guide you into the wisdom that is within you, that has always been, in the very core of your heart. warm your soul in the flames of the sacred fire and remember. remember once more. you are a seed of love. a being made of stardust. a goddess. a god. a dewdrop of light. a rainbow warrior. you have lived amongst the stars and traveled across interdimensional galaxies, through many life forms and now you were given this physical human body. it’s yours through this life journey. be grateful for all that it allows you. remember. remember that you will make what may be perceived as mistakes but truly they are just lessons in disguise being given to you. dwell not in shame and guilt and attachment to past happenings. the lessons will appear in different forms in your life until you accept and truly learn them. remember. remember that everyone is a mirror of you and you of them. all is a reflection of what’s happening within you. remember. remember your family. your brothers and your sisters all around the glowing globe. not just the two-legged ones… the four-legged ones as well, the sky ones, the ocean ones, the earthen ones… all of them. remember. remember the magic of who you are, of this earth that enfolds you sweetly and feeds you and shelters you and teaches you and heals you. show her your love. weave your reality into a web of love and kindness. we are here to learn, to grow beyond our fears, to remember… the flow of vital energy that interconnects us all. listen to the wisdom that the trees whisper, the sweetness and healing medicine of the chanting of the birds, the ancient heart beat of pachamama. everything is alive and part of you… deeply interconnected and humming in sync an ancient song of love that we have long forgotten but are being reminded of once again… remember. love is the medicine and you are the healer. just take a deep breath… and remember. i love you. welcome home.
