EJD and I collaborated on this guide to help you read science articles like a pro. The next time you hear that something causes/cures cancer, pull this baby out and follow along.  -GR 

CLARITY is a new tool that makes mouse brains clear (top picture) so we can make movies/gifs like the brainbow you see there! also, it lets us get access to 'circuits' - we can make certain neurons in the brain 'fire' (send signals) whenever we want! By making them fire, we can see what they do to animals like mice, and get a better idea of how neurons talk to each other and work together to make us do the things we do. pretty cool! -EJD

Necessary skills for my PhD that are useless in real life: 2. Measuring out liquids precisely by using the meniscus. Vital for making buffers, less so for making pancakes. -GR
