Psalm 23
When I set out to film this Psalm, I knew it had to be epic! This is perhaps the most beloved chapter in all of scripture. And so I filmed it on both coasts-- in Lyme New Hampshire and Big Sur, California. What does Psalm 23 mean to me? I am at peace when I am shooting anything set to scripture. The Lord has given me a love of nature-- for the height and depth of His creation which I try to weave through every frame of my work. When cameras are rolling, I lack nothing. He leads me beside quiet waters and I even try to stir them up a bit because that's what I do. My valley of the shadow of death is any place without Jesus. My soul is restored when the sun comes out and shooting can resume; (I'm not so sure that God created the world on cloudy days) "...And God saw that it was good." (Genesis 1:12) I LOVE that He guides us, anoints us, gives us a cup of abundance, and directs us to places of cool and refreshing rest.

The Gospel Cannot Be Stopped (Director's Cut)
What I do is something a little bit different. I seek to share the gospel through film and video, often shooting the on-camera and b-roll separately. I head out with my camera each day shooting all kinds of unplanned shots found in nature or out on the streets of Manhattan (Woody Allen and Gordon Willis Jr. eat your heart out). I believe the Holy Spirit inspires me in and through the entire process-- even as I release it out into the world... a layman's effort to run with it... to mount up with eagle's wings and push 'send.' I believe the testimony of my journey to share the gospel will ignite the imaginations of many. If 'all things are possible,' pick up your own iPhone and record your testimony from different angles... repeating the same story again and again. Not only will your confidence build, but you will also discover that each time what you say and how you say it is always slightly different, filled with new jewels of revelation... because the testimony of Jesus is the Spirit of prophesy! Be bold and amazing... and start reinventing your sermons or talks by taking them out on the road with you as you discover and share the things that God reveals to you! The greatest 'reality' is knowing Jesus in your heart, obeying his commands, and discovering new ways to serve him. Your witness is tailor-made made for others! “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.” Acts 1:8 Best, Fritz

The Gospel Cannot Be Stopped
I am amazed by the scripture from Isaiah that Jesus read in a synagogue as he launched his ministry announcing that he was the Messiah: “The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim liberty to the captives and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty those who are oppressed, to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor.” The people listening marveled at his words and then questioned and challenged him. When he pointed out their sin, they became enraged and led him up to a cliff above their town to throw him off. The gospel cannot be stopped! Sometimes we too feel like we are being led up to the edge of a cliff— as if the power and torments of this life are just simply too much. But it is exactly at those times that we trust our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ who "gave himself for us to redeem us from all lawlessness, and to purify for himself a people for his own possession, zealous for good works." (Titus 2:14)
The Testimony of Jesus is the Spirit of Prophesy
When we summon the nerve to share our testimony of faith... speaking about Jesus as our Lord, we actually are entering into the spirit of prophecy! (Revelation 19:10) We are told in scripture to "preach the word" and to be prepared whether the time is favorable or not... we are to be "urgent" both in season and out of season. It is my firm belief that when you DO share your testimony, you are actually tapping into the 'spirit of prophecy.' Smith Wigglesworth, the British evangelist, said, "...we must testify that we are saved. Your knees may knock together. You may be trembling as you do it. But when you get it out you enter into the spirit of prophecy. Before you know where you are you are saying things that the Spirit is saying." I then share the gospel and my own experience of coming to know Jesus as my Lord and Savior. My conversion was an astonishing, action-packed event that was soon followed up with a supernatural miracle of healing. I am so thankful that I made the leap of faith as a teen, and that God has been so faithful to me over this last half-century! Jesus is spectacular! Wow.
Walk in Newness of Life
Years ago, I decided to put my new camera to the test by filming my testimony in the sweltering Mojave Desert. Rising well before dawn, I drove out from Los Angeles to the arid wasteland of the Salton Sea. I had visited it many times before. First comes the smell of desiccated fish that permeates the air. Next, the sight of rusted cranes that tower high above abandoned mobile homes and the ditched car tires that line the shore. Originally known as ‘America’s Riviera’ and home to Frank Sinatra, Bing Crosby, and Desi Arnaz, the Salton Sea has become a ghost town that you simply don’t want to visit it in the dark. Yet, even in the midst of this this ‘Paradise Lost,’ you can still sense the presence of God among his people for “the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.” (Joshua 1:9)
And now, as I continue to share my testimony and the good news along the banks of the Connecticut River… where every New Englander knows ‘farm fresh,’ and how to chase fall foliage, I am always reminded that God’s mercies “are new every morning. Great is thy faithfulness!” (Lamentations 3:22-23)

"Lectio Divina" Redux 7 • the art of reading scripture
You can truly benefit by approaching scripture in a new way-- by asking the Holy Spirit to reveal His truth to you. And the ancient and most up-to-day art of "lectio divina" is a tried and true method of soaking in the scriptures and pouring them into every part of you-- so much so that they influence your life, your direction, and the things you CHOOSE to do on a daily basis. After all, by feeding on the 'milk' of the scriptures properly-- and not starving ourselves of thirst-- we can then DO the very things the verses tell us to do. The Holy Spirit has some very explicit instructions and guidance for us. And it's more than just a whisper. This is how you move on to the meat-- which is the DOING OF THE WILL OF GOD. Ask any man or woman of God who has soared to the heights in their faith the midst of persecution and suffering... and they will point... they will point you directly to the word. Lectio Divina, a practice first perfected by monks, applies 4 techniques that help bring the scriptures to life! They are treasures of the kingdom that are yours for the taking.

"This is what I missed" Redux 4 • Three centuries combine to bring glor...
Years ago, my family travelled to Tuscany for an unbelievable vacation, and my mother insisted we take a road trip to see the painted frescos in Assisi. "Assisi!!!" we balked as we got out our maps and tried to determine how long this fiasco of a side trip would take-- not to mention the exhorbitant cost of driving the toll roads along Italy's byways. We were soon to learn that Giotto, who is arguably the most important painter of the 14th Century, told a story of faith in his epic murals. We weren't exactly all 'on board,' but when we entered that church, something happened. We stood in wonder, stunned in absolute silence.
And so, I thought to myself, in trying to illustrate the power of Paul's prayer, what better way to bring it to life than to combine his words with Giotto's pictures in a way that perhaps may not have been done before. In post, I discovered that the two were practically made for each other; hence the playful sub-title:
Three centuries combine to bring glory to Christ: • Paul's 1st Century prayer to the Ephesian believers • Giotto's 14th Century Paintings at Assisi • Fritz's 21st Century non-linear editing!
If you get the chance, please visit the church in Assisi. It is an experience that you will never forget.
