“Oooh, a canopy. That’s a really good idea!” She praised him. “Stylish, yet functional.”

“Or just a big net to keep you from floating away.” He suggested.

“I think I’d like the canopy better. A net’s not as pretty. It’s still a good idea, though!”

“It keeps mosquitoes away though, right? A net does?”

“Ohhh, like mosquito netting? I was thinking like, a fishing net. Mesh could be nice, yeah.”

“Yeah, like that. I mean, you could use a big old net like acrobats fall onto.”

“Yeah, that’s what I was picturing at first. I don’t think I’d like that one. But the mosquito netting or a cannopy. Those sound like options.”

“The…normal way?” He shrugged. “The same way anyone gets a bed inside, right?”

“But, like, do you fill it with water before or after you get it in place? I would think after, because water’s really heavy, but you also have Freddy in the house, and he could probably lug a matress-worth-of-water up stairs no problem.”

“You fill it with a hose attached to the bathroom sink. And yeah, it did get water all over the place because I over filled it at first.”

“Ahh. That makes sense. Live and learn, then!”

“I don’t know how I’m gonna get it un-inflated if I need to….I guess I’ll just have to drink the water.”

“You could do that. You could probably have Freddy move it. Or at least drag it to the window and spray the water out there.” She smirked. “You could always empty it in someone else’s room, too, if you were so inclined.”

“Sure, if you point me to anyone in this place who won’t rearrange my spine if I do that.”

“Unfortunately I’m not close enough with any of your housemates to be able to say, for sure. I’m just saying, it is an option.” She smiled

“I mean….maybe Pietro wouldn’t kill me. He’d just talk me to death.”

“There’s an option, then,” She agreed.

“If I ever decide to ditch the water bed, that’s the plan, then.”

She laughed. “Sure! And in the meanwhile, you can still wake up feeling like a sea captain.”

“The downside is, sometimes I’ll roll right outta bed…”

“That’s never fun. Sometimes I drop out of the air, like, 8 feet into bed. Not the way you want to wake up, I assure you. Why did we ever decide only children or hospitals get to have bed-rails.” She clicked her tongue.

“You called me. Invited me over.” She paused. “Or I thought you did. Judging by your reaction, I’m guessing it was Mystique.”

“Nah, that sounds like something I might do. How long have you been here? Didja see my water bed?” He was unduly proud of his water bed.

“For a little while,” she laughed. “I did. It was the first thing you showed me. It’s very nice,” She nodded.

“I like it because I like to wake up feeling like a sea captain. But I probably already told you that.”

“You did. I suggested getting you one of those captain’s caps,” she confirmed.

“What, like to sleep in?”

“Yeah. Or at least to keep next to you while you slept. Then you’d wake up even more like a sea captain than usual.”

“That might be too much. I just like the vibe. But sometimes it also feels like I’m on a pool float or something. Or like...a giant jello mold.”

“I’ve never really gotten the desire to swim in jello. It’s so sticky, and it doesn’t, like-- heal itself behind you, so it’d loose it’s jigglynature all too fast. But pool floats I can totally get behind.”

“But what if you’re just lying on top of it, all jiggly-like? Also, if you put your ear to the mattress it sounds all swishy inside.”

She thought about it. “I can concede just laying on it. Not sure about the swishy noises though. But that’s probably a personal taste. I prefer my white noise to be more-- wind like.”

“It sounds like...” he searched for a way to describe it and shrugged. “Water. Wanna sit on it?”

“I’m good. But thanks. I get sea sick.” She was currently sitting by the foot of his bed just... in the air? Sitting cross legged in the air, hovering? Like that a was a thing people did??

“It’s not that bad, unless you’re rolling around or whatever, which sometimes I do in my sleep and then I wake up dizzy.” He blinked at her. “Is that hard? Floating like that?”

“Not really. I do it in my sleep, a lot, actually, so I don’t know that I would get much out of a water bed. Pretty to look at though. How’d you get it up here?” She wondered.
