Yasmin no longer smiles as she used to, Hisham trembles whenever he hears an explosion, and little Renad was born in a time of war and has known nothing of life but the tent, the cold, and fear.

wow i js found out that an artist i liked and was mutuals with and shared common interests with blocked me on instagram. i dont know why, i thought this person js deleted instagram due to the immense pressure of creating. wow. this sounds like another good (albeit minor) reason to abandon my old art account. that chapter of my life is finally over. drawing is no longer an integral part of my life.

this will probably (hopefully) be the last time i publicly share my art. so far, i have done a lot of reflection and i have come to the conclusion that art will no longer be an emotional anchor or a frequent pastime in my life as of now.
making this took me 2 hours and 30 minutes, time that could be used for more meaningful activities and sleep. i have recently been rediscovering how playing music brings great joy, and i would like to lean into that instead as an outlet for my creativity. i will also be taking up creative writing more frequently.
drawing is a really high input and low yield subject, and fine art is useless in relation to my goals. i have spent hours trying to master fundamentals and proportions but to no avail. it takes 4 hours to produce decent drawings and 1 hour to even do sketches. lately i have also done some planning and have come to a harrowing yet unsurprising realisation; if i want to achieve my dreams, i would need to make sacrifices.
social media has been toxic in relation to my drawings. whilst i did meet wonderful people there, i have compared myself to artists way more talented than me which had tanked my self worth and focus, not reminding myself that they are probably pursuing fine arts careers anyways or don't have anything better to do with their time.
maybe i will not completely abandon art in the long run, maybe i will find a rediscovered passion a few years later. but right now it is all but extinguished. i no longer have the motivation nor time to draw.
i will still be active on socials, some more than others. i will still create stuff in relation to my ocs but they will be more infrequent and of different mediums. i will not abandon my ocs; my love for them is too great. i will simply abandon the prospect of excessively drawing.
to everyone who is waiting for an artfight revenge: i will get to you soon when my motivation is back. however, i will not be doing artfight next year or the year after.
