i feel like that girl who breaks up with her boyfriend and then makes a bunch of lifestyle changes by getting a haircut and eating healthier and going out with her friends more and taking a bunch of nudes. that’s me except the only person i broke up with was my past self 

when you go through a breakup or are apart from somebody you deeply love, it’s so important to remember that there still exists beautiful and tender love outside of romantic relationships- your friends and family still love you, they care about you and that love should also be recognized when you’ve lost somebody you’re in love with. love requires patience and understanding, not bitterness and jealousy. love is always everywhere and it exists in the smallest things and those things deserve to be appreciated, especially when you’re going through a rough time with another person. forgive yourself and forgive them. people love you. please don’t ever limit yourself to the love of one romantic relationship and have yourself collapse at the expense of this one person, who i know you love very deeply. they wouldn’t want that. take care of yourself better, please

It doesn’t happen like that. You don’t just wake up one day and find that everything has worked itself out. You must get out of bed, morning after morning, and make a conscious effort to control the circumstances of that given day. You must learn to handle your issues with grace because you respect what they are attempting to teach you. You must drown your insecurities slowly, one self-realization at a time. You must allow yourself to feel the fear bubbling just beneath your skin but you must never allow it the satisfaction of crippling you; grit your teeth and march on. You see, they never tell you how hard these things will be. This fight to reclaim yourself is not easy or straightforward but, my god, is it necessary.
