TWT spoilers - Hot Air Balloon and Branch Takes a Stand
The Branchifer/Poppifer thing was super cute! I have to wonder if he likes cutesy nicknames or just goes along with it because she likes them. I get the feeling he doesnât â in Trolls Holiday he and Gristle were acting all cool with one another: ââSup?â ââSupâ But I reeeally like the idea that she might have won him over and gotten him to enjoy cute little nicknames for each other. Maybe he only calls her Poppifer when her thinks theyâre alone together. At least âBranchiferâ not as over-the-top as some of the names she and Bridget call each other.
It was seriously awesome that neither of them was the least bit fazed that Poppy nearly got Branch impaled, as if his reflexes are so good that neither of them even noticed.
Branch in the Captainâs hat and wings. Siiigh⌠There really IS something so attractive about a person in uniform. He looked so happy to find the manual; why didnât you let him indulge himself, Poppy? Nerdy Branch is something we donât get to see nearly enough of. (BTW, the book isnât a scrapbook; itâs embroidered felt. The page heâs looking at says Flying Without Crying.)
Or maybe he was so happy because he got to have Poppy all to himself, the perfect place to confess to her and maybe share a romantic journey. I couldnât help but notice the look of disappointment on Branchâs face when they discover Biggie on board, because now he canât be alone with Poppy. He makes a similar face in the jail when Biggie interrupts them.
It was a bit jarring to hear Biggie say âcotton candyâ instead of âcandy flossâ as people with English accents usually do. I wonder what Branch was signaling ânoâ about to Biggie. No, theyâre not going to meet Barb, or no, theyâre not going to be friends when they meet?
I find it hypocritical for Poppy to lecture Branch about his weapons not being good for helping him listen when she doesnât herself, lol. But I think she was enjoying teasing him about his âman stuffâ, and for that I kinda canât blame her. Heâs SO cute when heâs flustered! (What the heck did he mean by âman stuffâ anyway? Tools? Underwear? Porn magazines? (Yeahhh, probably not that last one.)
His voice was shaking after Poppy kicked his weapons overboard. Poor hurt baby face. Awww⌠(Notice his skin/ears are less delicately translucent than before, but by the same token, his eyes are a gorgeous vivid blue now. There was nothing wrong with his original lovely sky-blue color, but it was less noticeable because everyoneâs irises were a little too narrow in the first movie to show off their colors well.)
No wonder she didnât take him seriously. Itâs interesting that at this point in their relationship, Poppy has most of the power,Â
but later on, Branch starts to stand up for himself.Â
I think it wasnât until he walked away from her, making the choice to do what he believed was right, to go back home to protect the village instead of unquestioningly following in her wake that he finally earned her full respect. Thatâs when he became her equal.
