A. Well, I don't know if I can change your mind, but yes there is such a thing as toxic femininity.

“I'm not like other girls" is toxic femininity

“I can't stand makeup/no makeup" is toxic femininity.

“Housewives cannot be feminists" is toxic femininity.

“You're not a woman until you have a child" is toxic femininity.

Purposefully attempting to “steal” a man in a relationship because you need to compete with his wife to feel feminine, is toxic masculinity.

When you put your own definition of womanhood on a pedestal by degrading, assaulting or invalidating another woman's definition of womanhood, you are perpetuating and HEAVILY embroiled in toxic femininity.

Q: Why is it hard for me to accept that there is competition in dating and that not everyone on this World will find a quality partner?

A: Because you haven't realized the secret to coming out on top:

Focus inward.

If you think that people who have a firm grasp on and wide knowledge of science are cool, expand your scientific knowledge.

If you think people who are funny are cool, develop your sense of humor based on what you think is funny.

If you think it's amazing when people can speak more than one language, learn a new language.

Think about the qualities you really admire in others. Do your best to build those qualities in yourself.

Distract yourself from the fact that you're not in a relationship, by making yourself into someone you think is pretty fuckin great. Then, someday, you'll bump into someone who will see how much you have to offer, really really dig it, and you'll like yourself enough to have the confidence to go for it.

Then BOOM! Relationship.

To get your mind off the misery NOW, think of the person you want to be down the road. Build that person.
