my backstory in my fem cortis dr

i was born in [REDACTED], canada on july 4, 2005 (no i will never change my birthday i got it so right in my cr it needs to be the same EVERYWHERE) to my amazingly loving parents robert quinn and mélodie marchand — ethnicity wise i'm half caribbean and half french (canadian). i have three older siblings: alistar (may 18, 1997), forrest (may 28, 1999), and cr-sister-name (april 11, 2002)

growing up, my sister and i really got interested in dancing after going to dance camps during the summer, so we joined a recreational troupe and took classes to improve. at the same time, i became very enthralled by music and began dreaming of becoming a singer, though i thought that dream was very far and out of reach.

i started writing songs at 9 years old when my parents divorced as a creative outlet to express my bottled up emotions. over the years, i became better and better and learned how to use certain softwares to make actual songs. then i learned that you can sell songs—so that's exactly what i did. it took a long time (and a lot of technical stuff that i won't get into cause i didn't script that) but i got into contact with big hit music/hybe. erm i didn't script the details of this but basically they asked me to come to korea to work for them at 16 years old in 2021... and i said yes!!!!!!

my first big project was newjeans' debut ep (don't worry, mhj doesn't exist in my dr) where i wrote and produced the entire album. of course, it went viral and that's usually the moment someone starts feeling proud of themselves, and i did, but i felt like something was missing.

still, even with this feeling in the pit of my stomach, i worked as a producer and songwriter, writing songs for enhypen, le sserafim, tws, newjeans, illit, and more for the following years.

and eventually... i had enough.

i sat down with the president of hybe labels and i said "i wanna make history" and that's what happened #imradiorebel

okay so it didn't happen like that but basically i was like "pleeeeaaaseeeeee can i be a trainee? i just want to join a group😭😭" and they said "sure but get off the floor and stop crying"

HOWEVER (comma) big hit didn't have any plans on making a girl group, so their solution? put me in a boy group. they didn't want to risk losing their best producer, so they held a meeting with me and told me these were their terms and i was like okay Strange but HELL YEAH??????

i had already met some of the members (martin and james from working with them previously) but i met the others and they were a little skeptical at first, but warmed up to the idea of a girl in the group soon enough.

i feel like we don't talk about how hard shifting can be for people who are neurodivergent. like in my case, with adhd and possible autism & ocd, i can't just "let go" like all the advice says to. meditating doesn't work because i can't calm down my thoughts. even the "adhd method" doesn't work.

"do what works best for you" what happens when i feel like i don't even know myself because of the spiralling thoughts in my head? i don't know what feels good or right because i've never been able to do that in my entire life

CORTIS (Korean: 코르티스; an abbreviation for the phrase 'Colour Outside The Lines') is a 6-member co-ed K-pop group under Big Hit Music, a subsidiary of HYBE Labels.
