"Uh huh yeah, gimmegimmegimme." He took the plate and started eating the bacon with his hands. "This is good stuff. Felt sick earlier coz they gave me that sleeping tablet on an empty stomach. Not even toast did they give me. Women who just had babies get toast. What does Wade get? Sweet eff all." He stuffed another piece of bacon in his mouth.

Logan watched the kid eat. You would swear he never ate anything in his life with how fast he was shovelling it down.

"You just planning to stay here all day then? You know I am tempted to tell the nurses I can't find you and blame them for losing you. I thought they had better security than that."

Changing Rooms

"Come on Logan, dun be like that." He reached for the plate. He could care less what the nurses thought of him, he just really didn’t want the doctor to come up and find him. Anyone but that bitch. "Gimme the food, dude."

Logan shook his head. As it happened he had eaten his fair share while her had been making it an wasn't actually that hungry. He handed the plate to Wade.

"It's probably only warm now though. If not cold. It's what you get for fucking off without telling anyone. ANd next time I will eat it in front of you got it?"

"Yeah I call bullshit." Wade started to walk back towards the door. He looked at Logan, and raised an eyebrow. “Well, Loganberry. What are you gonna do?” He folded his arms and waited for an answer. “Remember the fact that she coulda done that to anyone. Not just me. Even then I’m just out of fucking hospital.”

Logan shook his head.

"These things happen. Sometimes powers... You know what Wade you wouldn't understand."

He looked back to Catherine. She seemed fine now, if not a little shaken but that was to be expected. Even though he was sure it wasn't going to be a regular thing, he still needed her to be checked out.

"We have doctors in the basement. They will assess you there and either give you the all clear or not. I'll ring them from here and start on whatever I have to do to make you an official teacher. Wade can you show her down?"

Catherine's eyes lit up. She had been that this was the end of it. But he was still going to give her a change. She just hoped she hadn't scared Wade too much.

"Thank you so much, Mr. Logan. I can't tell you how much this means."

Wade curled tighter when he felt the cool air on his skin from the open door. He gave a moan and cracked his eyes open. “Mmmmfff what…?” He looked up to see the man standing in the doorway holding, “Is that food?” He smelled bacon. Was there bacon? Fantastic. Bacon rules all.

"Yes and it was hot. And then it took me half an hour to realise you were gone and calm the nurses down and come up here. I should eat this right here in front of you."

Logan was still standing by the door. If he did start eating it Wade would probably be in too much pain to catch him.

Changing Rooms

Beep. Beep.

What was that fucking noise? "Mmmmff…" Wade moaned into the pillow. He was sore. Everywhere. Why was he sore? He felt like someone had tried to pull his leg off. Ouch. Fuck. Ouch. He pulled his face outta the pillow and looked around and felt like his heart stopped.

He was in a hospital. The beeping got faster. Beepbeepbeepbeep. Heart monitor. He sat up and tugged out all the lines that were going into his veins and he turned off the heart monitor before it alerted anyone. Fuck this shit. Not staying here. He could smell the… clean. But also the sickness. Even the death. His chest felt tight. He pushed himself off the bed and stood shakily on his good leg. He was dizzy, but he kept his eyes on his feet as he limped out, knowing if he looked up he would see… someone he desperately wanted and didn’t want to see.

He fell onto his bed some time later, even though he remembered literally nothing about getting there. He curled up on the covers, not bothering to pull them over him and promptly passed out.

Logan had hated having to leave Wade for the night. He still felt guilty and ended up tossing and turning instead of sleeping. Once it was kinda morning time, he heading down to the kitchen. His coffee was good but he still felt like he should do something for the kid. Bacon. Everyone loved bacon right? And pancakes. With that he set to work. The pancakes might not have been round but they tasted alright and the bacon was extra crispy.

When he was finished, Logan set off towards the medical wing. It was in a state of panic. They had lost Wade. How do you lose a limping kid? Seriously? After shouting at the nurses he went to go find Wade and give him his semi-cold breakfast.

Logan didn't even wait to knock. He barged into Wades room, fining the kid still asleep.

"For fuck sake, Wade."

His vision cleared and he gasped in relief. “The fuck…?!” He rubbed his eyes and looked around him. The new teacher was bent double, a hand to her head and Wolverine was shouting at him. Why the fuck was Wolverine shouting at him?? Wasn’t he the one who had just been attacked?

He reached behind him and levered himself up using the bookshelves. “What am I doing? Ask her for fuck’s sake! She’s the one who just— Fuck, ouch, shit…” He limped heavily to the couch, throwing himself into it. He rubbed his sore leg, keeping in the moan of pain. “Ow fuck…” He looked at Cathy. “What the fuck did you do to me??”

Logan went over to Catherine, hoping to be able to help. Soon as he was near her she started to stand up straight, her hand on the chair to steady herself. She was still taking deep breathes. It had been a long time since she had had a black out like that. She didn't hear much of what Wade was saying. Except for the last part.

She looked over at the boy. He was seriously pissed, but over what she couldn't quite recall.

"I... I don't know. One minute we were talking and then I was hit with your crutch."

She looked over to Logan, who was now looking concerned. Her voice was starting to return to normal again.

"What happened?"

Wade sucked in a breath quietly as the darkness surrounded him. “What the fuck??” He slipped into a tight fighting stance, leaning on his good leg, dropping the crutch. What the hell was going on? He couldn’t see. He could feel his heart thumping in his chest. It was hard to breathe.

Logan suddenly went on high alert, hearing Wade curse. He didn't know what exactly she was doing to him but he could hear Wade's laboured breathing. Just as Logan had suspected, she wasn't one to be messed with.

"Maybe he has had enough. I mean he just got out of the hospital. The bike was a long time ago after all."

Logan didn't know what else to say to stop her. Sometimes mutants got so wrapped up in their powers it was hard to stop. He knew this from his own berserker tendencies.

Wade raised an eyebrow, shifting his grip on his crutch. “I ain’t taking anymore fucking tests… Unless it’s a practical one. No one can read my handwriting, it’s just simpler to do a practical test.” He looked down at his leg. “When this is fixed…”

He gave Logan a scowl. “Loganberry, you’re the headmaster, or so you say. You can do whatever the fuck you want.”

Catherine lifted an eyebrow and smiled at Logan.

"Loganberry?"

Logan scowled at Wade. He didn't want to threaten the kid in front of the new teacher.

"That is enough of that Wade. If you wanna be a part of the class you have to do so according to her rules. I'm sure she knows how to deal with you anyway."

Wade looked at Logan, daring him to ‘opt him for her class’. He wasn’t taking anymore classes, he was behind in Survival with his leg wound as it was. He shook his head. “I ain’t aspirin’ to be an X-Man. They only take on mutants, soooo…” He tilted his head, confused and looked at Wolverine. “…You’re starting Driver’s Ed? Really? Where you putting that course, the basketball court? You have a lot of idiots out there.” He looked back at Cathy. “I’ll take your class if you can teach me to drift.”

Catherine gave Wade a strange look at the mention that he wasn't a mutant. Even though she only knew little of the school, she was sure that it only admitted mutants. So this kid was the one in a million. He must have been pretty special to get in here. She left this talk of X-men and went straight into driving.

"Drifting? I suppose I could squeeze that in. Somewhere between outrunning the cops and jumping off of ramps. But that is only if you can pass basic driver's ed.. Think you can do that?"

It sounded like a challenge and that was the way she meant it. Logan could see what she was doing and he approved. Would Wade back down from that kinda challenge? Logan wasn't really sure but he knew lots of other students would fall into it.

Making the Grade

"Nah dude…" He felt himself slur over his words. "It’shh the bein’ able t’ heal from th’bulletshh, insteaduh endin’ up in a hospital bed…" He rubbed his eyes. He didn’t want to sleep yet. He wanted to be cranky and rant some more. "Dad coulda cared lesshh about spirit."

Logan watched as Wade slowly started to drift off. He didn't want to leave the kid here for some reason that escaped him, other than the guilt. He would come back in the morning with some proper food for the kid. That would make up for no drugs right? Probably not. It was the best he could do though. As he left through the door for the night, Logan looked back and whispered.

"You did good, Wade. Sleep well."
