So Artfight is soon and this year I finally intend to join! Today they'll be announcing the teams. So I've been uploading some characters and I have done an updated ref sheet for Yal! I'm currently doing one for Mewn also. I may also need to sit down and do a suitable one for Mudd too (as she had two 'forms'). Mostly these are character that have changed a bit since I've first drawn them, or would seem confusing to people without a ref sheet.

Yal info:

Yal is a traveller and priest of many faiths and likes to collect and share in religious knowledge of any kind. Yal is a prophet worm, his goal being to go across the universe and experience various religions and be a wandering priest to many and who goes around studying, experiencing and partaking in all religions to achieve a form of enlightenment. If you were to ask about who or what he believes in, his answer would be 'life, death and the universe itself'. However, he'll always hold a personal prayer and belief for the worm god of hope and rebirth. Life it'self is ouroboros and Yal finds he can believe in that. 

He's a great character to inset into your own world building regarding religions and have him partaking in them. He's a scholar and willing to experience other cultures even if they are very different to his own.  

He's a very gentle and kind soul, and this can put him at odds with certain aspects of religion. Religion that calls for unkindness and bigotry are easier for him to disavow if it's at odds with core teachings (be kind to others, not to judge, etc.). But animal/human/sentient being sacrifice is hard to ignore when it's a core part of the teachings. He'll partake, but carry immense guilt about it (especially in sheep/goats, which he feels are far too familiar). So Yal's personal demons will involve the various guilts surrounding practises that go against his core beliefs and caring aspects of his personality. Often they will take all the evils of the religions and come to him in the form of the sacrificial beats he may have helped to end the life of. But he's learnt to deal with his demons and offer them tea, for it's his burden to bear. 

Could be a form of worm angel. He's bereft of anger and seems to survive almost anywhere with a cheerful attitude. No one has seen him flight though, but he will flap his 'wings' and they assist with no gravity/water.

1 shot of mountain dew baja blast (available at any good/disreputable vape + energy drink corner shop)

1/2 shot of malibu

a squirt of blue food colouring

garnish with a cherry and a gummy shark, to taste

Inktober 52 2026 - Week 21 - Bald

A BALD notothen (aka BALD rockcod) mermaid being annoyed that their ice home is melting in this unnatural heat.

More doodles of the aloof flamboyant giraffe 'Raffi' I've been doing in-between things. I'm enjoying drawing her, even if hand drawing her 90's geometric patterns are futile in this mode.

Self insert TADC OC. I won't do much on her, I just like drawing me as a stupid prickly worm.

Genuine talk with my partner about what we'd have shown up in a mind scan regarding our personalities and issues. I'm not very social, and I've been described a 'prickly' but some people. I don't intend to be, but I'm one of those people happy in their own company, and a little socially awkward. I also work in retail, so people tend annoy me quickly now lol. My partner suggested this would come out literally, like looking prickly when you don't intend to be.

(and we strongly think he's got ADHD, so I said he'd be an easily distractible/unfocused cartoon dog with pilot goggles because when he does get focused he tends to 'aim high' har-har).

Little line up of the characters I've either made and inspired by TADC or older ideas I've requisitioned into it. Because I'm in a doodle mood whilst it's all on my brain and I want to get it all out.

Raffi I've developed on her own as a character, There'll be more of her.

The little circus bat is something I may use outside the show as a critter encounter in my wish for a star side story.

The worm is me in the circus, Lol. I'd be prickly and anti-social and then abstract when I realize I can't be around my partner. Is finally a worm-dies.

Inktober 52 2026 - Week 20 - Proud

BBC's Springwatch is around the corner, and it's still mer-may so have one of its stars as a mermaid - Spineless Si(mon) the stickleback! Proud father!

Finally settling on a final colour and pattern scheme for Raffi, my TADC oc. I went with the yellow for her since a lot of the cast are already red/blues and purple, so being yellow separates her slightly. I'll likely use the purple form for outside TADC stuff as I just like drawing her!

Raffi is a circus member who seems to like living in the circus and comes off as a bit aloof (Jax would say snooty).

She acts content and calm in the circus because in the real world she’s dying of a terminal throat cancer that’s spread in her body. Dying an inevitable painful death < living in the childish virtual circus world forever (to her).

Ended up in the circus after being fed up with her predicament and everyone's opinions on it; so against doctors’ orders she goes for a long hike. Ends up lost and with no signal/battery (lol idiot). But this abandoned building looks like it has power and may have a phone/security guard with phone...

Deep down she’s full of regrets on what she could have archived and relationships she should have maintained; just like everyone else. But she just knows escape can’t be an option (she is either going to a very sick and dying body or it's already long dead).

Pain is good in adventures; she sees it as reminding her she's alive and that cartoon destruction is far better than the pains she experienced in real life. So she just (outwardly) brushes it all off.

Comes across as snooty because she sounds posh (‘Queens English’ accent and acts like she had ‘An education’) and distances herself from the others outside adventures.

But really she is someone who travelled around and did a lot of menial jobs to fund any artistic pursuits she had (dancing, singing, fashion and painting). Jack of all trades but certainly master of none.

Struggles to talk to the circus members on a meaningful level. It’s hard to associate when you think what is ‘you’ is already dead in your mind (not that she ever knew who she really was either). And what are you in this world? A flamboyant giraffe?

Pomni may be the one to remind her that Raffi must be alive here, otherwise they wouldn’t be fighting to exist so hard. Who ‘you’ are can be figured out easier with others.

Pomni would get her out of her repeating rut of avoiding others, and turns out Raffi has a more ‘Manic Auntie’ quality to her; giving and acting out (both smart and bad on purpose) advice. It’s more fun!

After Caine’s death and crash out, she is NOT DOING WELL and the simmering anger will bubble forth as her ‘Digital afterlife’ seems to have ended in hell.

She’ll crash out, but with the other members she’s finally reaching out to, she may recover.

Inktober 52 2026 - Week 19 - Posture

Very unlikely we'll see these guys in the final episode (but as Pomi says: 'it's possible') but I wanted to have a bash at drawing what their full bodies may look like.

I like the sad clown. I'd feel like he'd have more normal body, but I love the idea of a clown caterpillar that makes serval squeaking nosies as he walks (hehheh. you sound like 3 clowns).

The green one is supposedly named 'Grinchilda' by the artist because it looked like a grinch and child? It's hard to tell from the image but I saw more of a Muppet like character. I also saw people see the nose as a beak? And I could also see that; bird muppet.

Pink cyclops and the clam MIIIIGHT be based on these figures, so maybe inspired by desk ornaments. I tried to give them a light unique spin here and there. The pink guy could also be goopy as opposed to fluffy.

Trying to pin down my character Raffi, a character I've developed as a TADC fan character, but I like also making characters I can use outside of fan stuff.

Any way; I have too many ideas for her patterns. It's easily to imagine when she holds her breath it cycles though the various patterns s here; but her main body pattern...I dunno. My faves are the large on to the side and the bottom 4 I've highlighted.
