“as a child, I was always scared of human beings stuck to other humans. and not just humans -- chameleons atop chameleons, dogs attached to dogs in late summer. years later I got the logic and logos of the natural phenomenon of affixation. of white feathers to a swan, the nib to sacred papery white, fingers to the keyboard etc. the same message gradually spoke out with greater plural strength accumulated from each event. the same finger that knows the sticky touch of gum, sends warm imagination to the cold core of life’s dead stars. every search reveal a want for familiarity. For something that’s accomplished, felt, dense, scaly, warm, unspoken, open, empty, smooth and silvery. succus or blood. oreic and oneiric. clove-like and love-like. constantly brushing against the other. ceaselessly intersecting.”
Aryanil Mukherjee, from Code Memory

If the word “God” no longer speaks to you, he [Tillich] once wrote, say “depth.” Instead of “sin,” say “separation.” Instead of forgiveness, say “acceptance.”
The question of when you become an adult is preceded by the question of what is an adult? – Michael Lipsey
“Man does not think with his soul, as the Philosopher imagined. He thinks as a consequence of the fact that a structure, that of language—the word implies it—a structure carves up his body, a structure that has nothing to do with anatomy. Witness the hysteric. This shearing happens to the soul through the obsessional symptom: a thought that burdens the soul that it doesn’t know what to do with. Thought is in disharmony with the soul.”
> Lacan, Television: A Challenge to the Psychoanalitic Establishment
One thing fairly fills me with surprise. In fact, I’d even say that it leaves me dumbfounded, and that’s at the scientific moment in which I write, after countless experiences and daily scandals, there can still exist in our dear France […] one voter, one single voter — that irrational, inorganic, hallucinatory animal — who agrees to take time out from his affairs, his dreams, and his pleasures in order to vote in favor of someone or something. If we think about it for just one instant, is this surprising phenomenon not one fit to upset the subtlest philosophies and confound reason? Where is the Balzac who can give us the physiology of the modern elector, or the Charcot who will explain the anatomy and mentality of this incurable lunatic? […] He voted yesterday, he’ll vote tomorrow, and he will always vote. Sheep go to the slaughter; they say nothing and expect nothing. But at least they don’t vote for the butcher who will kill them and the bourgeois who will eat them. More bovine than cattle, more sheep-like than sheep, the elector names his butcher and chooses his bourgeois. He has fought revolutions in order to enjoy this right. […] So, my good man, go home and strike against universal suffrage.

“The body- a prison, perhaps? But as Weil wrote, the wall that separates two prisoners is also, when they tap on it, their means of communication.”
Palle Yourgrau’s introduction to Aliens and Anorexia (via allslost)
The study found a growing acceptance of socialist and Marxist viewpoints among a younger generation of Americans who did not grow up during the Cold War. When considered alongside the broad support among millennials for Bernie Sanders and his ideals – the poll, for example, found more support for quotes of Sanders than Milton Friedman and the Bible – socialism has growing support in America. Fewer younger Americans, in turn, had a favourable view of capitalism and its tenets versus their older counterparts. The report also found a substantial gap in basic knowledge about communism and its history, with more glaring knowledge gaps especially among millennials .
Liberals, reactionaries, and neo-fascists alike fear the growing anti-capitalist sentiment within the United States of Amerika and the wearing off of anti-communist propaganda from the Cold War. They, of course, establish this as a question of “ignorance” or lack of “education” on the horrors they, anti-communists, have spent decades fabricating and spoon feeding to the masses.
oh now the increasingly anti-russia/putin media framing efforts in the u.s. make sense
