Overwhelmingly, the thing I see the most in my messages, reblogs and other things is the lament “I want to be tranced, but I DON’T KNOW WHERE TO START!”
Gather round, children, and let old hypnovoyeur give you some tough love and share with you the number one reason hypnotists absolutely WILL NOT WORK WITH YOU:
Your first interaction is straight up “Can you hypnotize me?”
HELL TO THE NO I WILL NOT. Let me tell you why. In this oh so important first impression, you’ve already established that you don’t give a shit about me as a person. You just want to use me as a means for an end. You’re not interested in the person behind the posts and the writings. You are just here for your own selfish reasons. I ain’t about that life. I DO NOT LIKE BEING USED.
Also, I don’t know you. Who the hell are you? What do you like? I don’t fucking know that because you didn’t even have the manners to introduce yourself. Rude, rude, RUDE.
So how DO you get to the point of getting tranced by another person?
TREAT YOUR POTENTIAL HYPNOTIST LIKE A MOTHERFUCKING HUMAN BEING.
(You’d think this would be common sense, but this is the internet in general and tumblr in specific.)
Please, please, please say something more than “hi.”
Give compliments! Who doesn’t love hearing that you loved something they wrote or you laughed at a meme they shared.
DO NOT be offended if you don’t get a response right away. For example, I have a full time job, a pet, a family member with health issues, and even a social life at times. While I may seem omnipresent on here, I assure you; it’s an illusion of the queue. I check my messages maybe 2-3 times a week.
SHOW THAT YOU HAVE A PERSONALITY. If I click on your blog, am I gonna see a bio? An avatar that isn’t the basic first kind tumblr gives you? More than a handful of posts? I vet people when I first start talking to them and if you have a blank blog that’s a big red flag for me.
Heed these warnings and pointers and I am sure you will find it much easier to find someone to trance with you than you initially thought.
