Casper took a big, deep breath, holding onto his father the tightest he could. He could hear the faint music that was his cue to walk down the aisle, but his body couldn’t take one step. Because he knew, the minute he put on foot forward, he would want to run full force to the altar. But he knew he had to savor this moment.

“Are you ready?” His dad whispered. Cas nodded. He was ready for this his whole life.

Cas took one step, then another. Here we go.

Everyone was standing, anticipating the groom, and their faces lit up when they saw him in his pretty baby pink dress. Don’t focus on them.

It was then Cas saw him, standing at the altar, smiling the biggest smile Cas had ever seen plastered on his face. Loki, dressed in his signature green and gold, waiting for him. Cas smiled back, knowing his future was standing a few paces away.

Cas’s father left him at the altar with a kiss to his cheek. “I love you.” Cas whispered, and his father said it back before he went to take his place at his seat.

Dr. Strange, the officiant. cleared his throat. “We are gathered here together, underneath endless flowers and open sky, to bring together these two unique individuals, Loki Laufeyson, and Casper Tyler.

“Today, we witness the joining of their lives in marriage, a union built on respect, trust, and shared values. This is an acknowledgment of the next chapter in their lives together. And they have invited us to share in this special moment as they declare their love and dedication to one another, for as long as their love reigns true.

“Through their long history, from meeting in the time of tragedy, to sticking together through thick and thin, their love survived and remained intact. Through the long five years they spent apart, they returned stronger and more devoted than ever. And now, as the dust has settled, they both plan to spend the rest of their peaceful lives together as one. And now, the vows.”

Casper grabbed a big sheet of paper that Gretchen had held onto and unraveled it, and began to read. “Loki… oh god, where do I even begin? The way we met was… unconventional. We were both very different people back then. You came here broken, and I felt that I was the glue that could put you back together. But in doing so, the glue ended up sticking to me, too, and now we’re inseparable. Loki Laufeyson, Odinson, oh god you have so many last names… I promise to love you unconditionally for the rest of my days, as deeply and as fully as I am able to. And when we fade out into stars next to each other in the sky, I’ll love you then, too. I’ve loved you through all the good times and the bad. Oh god, I’m tearing up… I’ve loved you through the times I thought our relationship would not survive due to the outside circumstances. But through it all, we survived, and we’re stronger because of it. Our love is stronger because of it. I promise to love you all my days, all my nights, and every second from now until the universe dies out.”

The audience clapped, Cas turned so one of his bridesmaids could wipe his tears away without smudging his makeup, and then it was Loki’s turn. Loki grabbed his parchment from his best man and brother, Thor, and started to read.

“Casper Tyler, I met you a broken man, that much I am willing to admit. But you alone have made me whole again. I was in the darkest place imaginable, and somehow you pulled me out. Somehow, you placed this curse, this spell I cannot shake. And even then, I do not think I want to. The truth is, you have changed every fiber of me completely, in a way that I did not think was possible. You have made me see wonder in the smallest things, made me see joy in the moments that seem joyless. You are my complete opposite, but my greatest compliment. My spider, I could string together endless words, sing your praises until all the stars in the universe burn out, and it still would not be enough. There truly is no way to describe my love for you, for it is too vast, too great to put into mortal words. I could write an infinite amount of poems, but that would still not be enough, for you are my everything. I love you, Casper, but that is an understatement. So I’ll hold you and cherish you until my heart gives out, and I will spend every moment trying to make sure you feel that love. For you have changed me, and somehow warmed this cold, frosty heart. I love you. Unconditionally, infinitely, endlessly, eternally.”

The audience clapped again, and now it was Loki’s turn to tear up. Cas wanted to grab his face and wipe his tears away, kiss it better like he always did. But Cas stayed still as the claps died down.

“Now,” Strange started again, “please repeat after me, Loki. I, state your name.”

“I, Loki Laufeyson.” Loki took both of Cas’s hands into his.

“Take you, Casper Tyler.”

“Take you, Casper Tyler.”

“To have and to hold.”

Loki smirked at the poorer part, “For richer or for poorer.”

Strange turned to Cas, “And you, Casper. I, state your name.”

“I, Casper Tyler.”

“Take you, Loki Laufeyson.”

“Take you, Loki Laufeyson.”

“To have and to hold.”

“Could we have the rings please?”

Morgan Stark made her way down the aisle, carefully holding the pillow with two shimmering rings in her hands.

“Thanks, hun.” Cas whispered, giving her nicely curled hair a ruffle before sending her back to Pepper and Tony.

“Loki, place the ring on Casper's finger and repeat after me: I give you this ring as a symbol of my love with the pledge to love and support you today, tomorrow, always, and forever."

“I give you this ring as a symbol of my love with the pledge to love and support you today, tomorrow, always, and forever” Loki slipped the gold, sparkling gem band onto Cas’s ring finger.

“And Casper, place the ring on Loki’s finger and repeat after me. I give you this ring as a symbol of my love with the pledge to love and support you today, tomorrow, always, and forever."

“I give you this ring as a symbol of my love with the pledge to love and support you today, tomorrow, always, and forever” Casper placed Loki’s ring on his finger, admiring how it shimmered in the outdoor August sun.

“Sustaining a healthy marriage takes love. It takes trust. It takes honesty. It takes patience. It takes teamwork, compromise, and understanding. You will need to have faith in each other, to go forward together, into an unpredictable future. It will take dedication, to stay open to one another, and to learn and grow together. You both have declared your intent to marry, you have promised to be committed to one another, and have exchanged rings. There is now only one thing left to do…

“By the power vested in me, I now pronounce you husband and spouse. You may now kiss your spouse.”

The two newlyweds interlocked lips, but it was hard to kiss when you’re giddy and smiling wider than you ever had before. 

“I love you.” Casper whispered into Loki’s mouth, so soft, only the two of them could hear it.

“I love you too.”

“My friends, it is my honor to introduce you to the new Mr. and Mx. Casper and Loki Laufeyson-Tyler!”

The couple turned towards the crowd, who was standing and cheering and applauding. When the two walked hand in hand up the aisle, they were showered with tiny grains of rice.

“Why do Midgardians throw rice?”

“I have no idea,” Casper said, laughing.

Cas remembered the first time he had seen the god. And though they were enemies at the time, he thought Loki was the most beautiful in all the land. And when he swooned when he spoke for the first time, “I’m not overly fond of what follows,” it was like the universe had sealed their fate right then and there.

But now it was official. Sealed in vows, in companionship, in love.

Eternally. Endlessly. Always.
