⚜️ It's Time!!!! Moderator Apps Are Now Open For "The Dragon Age: Inquisition" Zine!

Hi everyone!

Well... It's officially August 1st, which means the Dragon Age: Inquisition Zine Moderator Applications are now OPEN!

I genuinely don't know how to put into words how excited I am to finally be saying that!!!!!! A little over a few weeks ago, Skyhold Press was simply an idea born from one very enthusiastic Dragon Age fan asking, "What if we made a community zine?"

Since then, that tiny idea has somehow grown into a community project with an incredible amount of support, more than 60 people expressing interest in the zine, a Discord server, a Carrd website, an Instagram, plans for future events, and so many kind messages that I've honestly lost count!

So, before we start I wanted to say thank you!

Whether you've been here since the very first interest check, discovered Skyhold Press yesterday, liked a post, or reblogged an update, you've helped make this feel possible!

Today is the first real step toward bringing this project to life! Let's go check our first War Table together!

A Note About the Zine Before We Start:

The Dragon Age: Inquisition Zine is a free, digital, non-profit fan project created by fans, for fans.

No one involved in the project—including moderators or contributors—will be paid, and the finished digital zine will be released free of charge for everyone to enjoy!

All contributors retain full ownership and rights to their original work. Participating in this zine does not transfer copyright or ownership to Skyhold Press in any shape or form.

Creators are welcome to share, post, print, include in portfolios, or otherwise use their own work after the zine's release, provided it doesn't conflict with any agreed-upon preview or release schedule during production.

Skyhold Press simply receives permission to include accepted works in this specific zine project and to promote the project using contributor-approved previews where applicable!

Need to confirm your participation for a portfolio, volunteer experience, or similar opportunity? We're happy to verify your involvement in the project and the role you contributed to upon request!

Moderator Categories & Applications:

One of the lovely things about fan zines is that they bring together people with all sorts of different strengths. If you are a spreadsheet enthusiast, an artist, a social butterfly, or someone who simply enjoys helping things run smoothly, there's likely a place for you!

You don't need experience in every role, and many moderators end up wearing more than one hat throughout the project!

Organization & Scheduling: The people who love planning, keeping track of deadlines, checking in with contributors, and making sure the project stays on course.

If your happy place is a well-organized spreadsheet... we'd probably get along!

Graphics & Branding: Help create graphics for announcements, contributor spotlights, social media, banners, and other visual assets that give the project its identity!

Editing & Beta Reading: Review written pieces for grammar, spelling, clarity, formatting, and consistency while respecting each creator's individual style.

Art Coordination: Support our artists throughout the project, help answer questions, assist with organization, and work alongside the team to ensure artwork is ready for the final zine.

Layout & Production: Bring everything together into the finished publication by arranging artwork, writing, credits, and design into a cohesive final zine!

Community & Communications: Help answer questions, keep contributors informed, assist with Discord or Tumblr moderation, and make sure everyone feels welcome throughout the project.

General Support: A little bit of everything!

It could be brainstorming ideas, lending a hand where needed, testing links, proofreading announcements, or helping solve unexpected problems, this role is perfect for people who enjoy jumping in wherever they're most useful!

A little personal note now because I'm nothing if not cheesy-

I wasn't planning on getting emotional this morning, I promise I wasn't...

When I created the Skyhold Press Instagram account just a few days ago, I followed a handful of the Dragon Age voice actors whose public accounts I could find (mostly because I wanted to celebrate the people who helped bring these characters to life).

So imagine my surprise when I woke up this morning to discover that Alastair Parker (Blackwall) had followed Skyhold Press back... and became the account's very first follower!

I absolutely adore Blackwall's story in DAI, his character and romance, so seeing that genuinely made my day in a way I don't think I'll ever quite be able to explain! Thank you, Mr. Parker, for making a Dragon Age fan smile an awful lot today already!!!

DC Incest Week begins in 2 weeks!

Each year, as the weather starts warming up, I get hit with nostalgia for childhood summers and those long, hot, lazy days spent doing almost nothing besides reading as much as I wanted. Some of the books I read were for school assignments or chosen randomly from the bookcase at home, but most were picked up at my local library, which was close enough to walk to if I had nothing else to do (which I usually didn’t).

The library ran a summer challenge every year for any kid whowanted to participate: for each book read, you got another stamp on your game card, collecting small prizes along the way and a larger one at the end. It was fun and motivating and it was a nice way to keep track of what I was reading.

A lot of libraries still offer summer reading challenges, for kids and adults, and I thought it would be fun to make one of our own in the form of a bingo card! The squares are meant to be as accommodating as possible of different reading preferences while still encouraging you to get out of your comfort zone and read something new.

What is this?

Schlocktober is a month-long writing and drawing event. It was established in 2025 as a response to a kink-free Kinktober calendar that became infamous for having way too many rules.

Its unconventional prompts and loose standards encourage creative freedom and reject morality policing in fandom spaces.

Who's running this thing?

Direct your complaints to patheticfangirl.

Why "schlock"?

It means trash/junk (affectionate), and that's the quality of content I'm striving for with these prompts. It's also fun to say.

But, y'know, if you want to take a prompt and turn it into a masterpiece of a whumpy longfic, go for it. That's creative freedom, baby.

What fandom is this for?

Schlocktober is fandom and ship neutral. At the time of posting, there are 218 different fandoms represented in previous works.

What if I want to combine prompts? What if I want to write or draw things out of order? What if I want to make a video? What if...

Go for it. Get weird. Do an interpretive dance. Mix in last year's prompts if you want to. Let the spirit of schlock move you.

What does [prompt] mean?

You tell me. It's all open to interpretation.

Is RPF okay?

Yes, so long as it's clearly fiction. See rule #3 below.

There are rules?

Just three.

No AI use. Having the plagiarism machine do your work for you is the opposite of creative. A typo-riddled mess is better than AI-written fanfiction. A stick figure drawn on the back of a napkin is better than soulless AI slop art. Believe in your own ability to produce trashy works.

Tag appropriately. 'Creator Chose Not to Use Archive Warnings' means anything goes. 'No Archive Warnings Apply' means your work is guaranteed not to contain any of the major archive warnings (non-con, major character death, graphic violence, or underage sex).

No irl bigotry or crimes. Your characters can be as problematic as you'd like, but if you try to post a weird pro-JK Rowling essay or threatening manifesto or something you're not going in the collection. Don't kill the vibes.

Anything else I need to know?

Only the most important thing of all: Have fun.

But someone else is having fun wrong!

ministuckybingo | LATE SIGN-UPS

Late Sign-Ups for the first round of the ministuckybingo are now OPEN! The form will stay up for two weeks until it closes at the very end of the day (12am EST) on August 22nd. We will be sending cards out on a first come, first serve basis; though please be patient in case we get a large number of responses, or if our lives decided to crash and burn at random.

This is for PRE-MADE cards only. However, we are doing things differently around here, so we're giving everyone the option of a SFW or NSFW card and what category pairs (prompts) they'd like. Square swaps cannot be made with premade cards. 

Note: There was an inconsistency in our schedule that one mod noticed and we decided to lean into a two week window for late sign-ups! Square Swaps for custom cards are also not closing until the 15th of August now.
