"You know that scene in the movie... where Arwen's holding the sword to Aragorn's neck... You ever wonder if just for a split second, she'd had enough of his wandering around without warning shit?"
Eheh....heh... Ranger gotta range?
"Mhmm... there had been have been like seven One Rings you were helping destroy."

"I have finished my top five lists," she said as she walked into the living room. "If I have to look at one more list of baby names, I'm gonna go cross-eyed. Either the name is on one of our top choices, or we're going to just name the baby 'Stevie' and be done with it."
"Zander is very much sassy enough for his name," she laughed as she got comfortable. "Who knows, maybe when they're born we don't like any names and we'll be back to square one. I think you have like... a week to come up with a name before there's some weird amount of paperwork you have to do. I plan on being in recovery for that long so- baby will need a name before we leave the hospital." She thought for a moment and shook her head, but then at the last minute- "Strawberry milkshake from that place on the corner by the post office?"
“But him as Maximillion.” Jase chuckled before chef kissing his hand to be dramatic. “I’m sure they’ll be perfect and fit whatever name we give them but I really like Zoey.” He promised, before leaning over and kissing Eira’s forehead. “While you’re recovering I’ll be here tending the farm, feeding the dog.” He chuckled, “Strawberry milkshake, god I knew there was a reason I married you, milkshakes would be so good right now.”
"Maximillion Rogers... Mmm he sounds like he'd be too posh to grow up on a ranch... We'd have to get him some horses to suit the name," she laughed. She smiled at the kiss and wrapped her arms around a pillow. "But what if I wanna recover here because I'll miss you and the dog?" she pouted. The postpartum care plan was still a bit in the air, but it really all depended on how easy the birth was. She had plans A thru E figured out, and there was no point in stressing over which one to follow until they were in the moment. "I thought it was because we both got absolutely shit faced in Vegas and the alcohol just let us be truthful about how we felt about each other? Is that not right?" she teased with a smile. "Babe babe- strawberry milkshake, with chocolate sauce in it?"
“Only maximillion when he’s in trouble, plain ol Max for day to day.” Jase shrugged, his ex had turned him down straight away when he suggested it. “If you wanna come back here we can do that but I’ll need to clean up all the boxes, maybe set up a bed in the nursery so I can be there if anything happens.” He hummed, not at all bothered by the thought of having to be there for their child, he did it all for Zan. “I mean that’s one way of looking at it but I like to think it’s because I love you and everything you stand for.” He was a total suck up and he knew it. “Genius! I knew it before everyone else too!”
"You really love that name, hmm?" she said with a soft smile. "How about if it's a boy? We use that name." She held up her hand, pinkie finger extended, to show she meant what she said. She never broke pinkie promises. "I'm not due for a hot minute, Jase, we got time. But I did order these really cool like cushion beads. You can roll them up to make a chair, and roll them out to make a bed. They should be here in like a week, I think." She needed to start making lists of things she'd ordered and forgotten to tell him about. "Ahh okay I see, I try to be funny logical and you're being all sweet and logical. How dare you one up me, sir?" she laughed. "Then I think you should get going to collect our boy, the pizza, and the shakes, babe. I don't plan on moving, I'm like real comfortable right now."

"I bet she's gonna ask which one leads to Neverland," Eira chuckled, a soft smile on her face. "She's starting to make that connection about the stars up in the corner of her room... Her brain is growing up, baby. I can't wait for the constant string of 'why's. I am prepared."
She was mostly prepared. There was only so much science a toddler could handle. She rested her head on Andy's shoulder. "She's such a good baby. I think everyone just really loves that they get to be a part of her tiny years, you know? Bucky and Hazel can relive it, Steve never had little siblings... Sam was Blipped when his nephews were tiny. She's like a little second chance for everyone."
"I bet she will. I'm glad her nursery is full of life, you know? It's not just beige or white, grey, its got a personality. I think it really helps her feel like she's her own little person." He smiled, thinking about their baby who was growing up too fast. "Oh so you want the why's huh? You want to explain everything over and over?"
"I'm just grateful that everyone's so happy. I know a lot of you weren't in the past. So to see everyone settled? Happy? Living their best lives? That's kind of amazing."
"If I ever say I want anything in our house, in the monstrosity that is beige? Please assume I am having a medical event and take me to the ER." Yes, she loved all things in black if she could get it- but black was classy, elegant. Spooky. Morticia Addams worthy. Beige was just sad.
"I do... I never had anyone who let me do all the why's about things until I was in grade school. Emma needs the confidence to know she can always ask the whys in life- she won't be afraid of anything then." She smiled softly at his words, and held onto his hand. "You better be counting yourself on that list, babe. You've got a hot wife, an adorable baby... a dog who's so smart she can practically start the dishwasher..."

I want to try their thin crust... with bell peppers. And pepperoni. Lots of pepperoni."
“I’ll bring it up on our next nightly chat.” Jase promised, grinning up at Eira almost exactly as Zander did when he promised to be better behaved for his mother. “Zoey and Zander… I see a theme here… Will the next kid be Zachary?” He teased a little before leaning over and picking up the local pizza place menu. “Pepperoni with lots of topping ok, I think we also need garlic everything and maybe the spicy supreme.” He hummed, looking over the menu before pulling out his phone. “Zan’s 30 mins out, I can go get the pizza when I get him.”
She smiled, seeing the similarity in the smiles, and brushed a hand through his hair as he looked over the menu. "I'm normally not a big fan of all same letter kids, but those names are also so different it'd be cute. Like... Daniel and a sister named Danielle??" She made a face and shook her head. "But I do like Zachary... if it's a boy, why don't we name them, that?" She rolled carefully onto her side to her more comfortable, and looked at the menu over his shoulder. "You had me at garlic, babe. Drive safe and get back soon as you can. We miss you already," she pouted.

"It's good that we got such a great view. Just think about when Emma's old enough to really appreciate stars though. We can bring her with her own little hot chocolate thermos and one of those little chairs?" He chuckled.
"But I'm glad it's just us tonight. I'm glad we have people who want to watch our little girl for us. We don't even have to ask. It's just automatic. That's how you know we got a great kid."
"I bet she's gonna ask which one leads to Neverland," Eira chuckled, a soft smile on her face. "She's starting to make that connection about the stars up in the corner of her room... Her brain is growing up, baby. I can't wait for the constant string of 'why's. I am prepared."

Wide eyes stared at the dust on the floor and Edie swallowed hard. Her fingers had been tingling under the thick leather : just for a moment she had wanted to leave them uncovered. When she came down to the lab, she had forgotten to put them back on. She didn't know what she had just touched, but it was gone now, dust scattering on the floor.
It was already hard adjusting to everything. She had been alive for so long and no time at all. It shouldn't all be such an adjustment but it was. All at the same time she felt ancient and like a newborn deer. Where would she go if she got kicked out of the tower as well ?
The door slid open behind her and dark eyes squeezed shut as Edie's heart leapt into her throat. She rolled her shoulders back and forced herself to seem calm before turning, head dipping solemnly, ' I'm so sorry, Eira . . . I forgot my gloves and my cane was still down here and as I reached for it I stumbled. '
˖ ⭑₊˚ @hxrbingxr liked an original character starter call !
Eira had been getting a refill of coffee when alarms had started to go off in her lab. Readings from AIDEN that didn't make sense, unless one of her ion bots was reacting to a recent experiment she had been poking at for the last few days. Shit shit shit- she only hoped the data hadn't been lost before the warnings went off.
As she reached the doors, though, she spotted a familiar figure in the lab. She slowed down as the doors opened, her eyes flicking down to the pile of dust on the floor as the alarms coming from her AI system ceased.
"It's just a table," she reassured with a gentle smile. "AIDEN warned me of the, uh... matter change anomaly, but I'm glad it was just a table and not something else in here." As calm as she was being (it was after all, just a table), there were machines in this lab that Stark had built. They were irreplaceable to Eira- not for the technology, but for who had made them.
"Are you feeling okay?" she asked, stepping over to fetch the cane. "The last series of tests didn't make you feel worse, did they? Dr. McCoy said they potentially could, but he didn't think it'd be more than a bit more noticeable fatigue for a few hours... Do you want me to call him? He should still be in the city."

"I know he's not him, Bucky. I know." She could hear the frustration in his voice easily, but she knew it wasn't really directed at her. Steve cast a huge shadow even now. Expectations, comparisons, interpretations of his legacy that were twisted between the truth and plotlines from bad movies. It was a lot of noise coming from a lot of directions. "I'm just tryin' to say- you can count on him to help, Bucky. I've known Sam a long, long time. He's a damn good man, like you are. He'll help if you need it, just like I'm going to. I don't have the reputation that Sam has. I started hunting HYDRA agents way after you escaped... which is probably a good thing, I think they would have sent you after me had the timeline of life not gone the way it was." That was a grim thought, and she frowned slightly, holding onto his arm a little tighter as they walked. "I know what I'm getting myself into, Bucky. I can't just sit on my ass and let you do this on your own, so you have a choice. We either work together like a team, or you'll find me tailing your clues everywhere from here to Mordor."
Bucky knew he shouldn't be getting angry at her, this wasn't her fault. He just needed someone to vent to, to talk to. Because it was hard doing this and thinking he was alone, but he had to get out of the mindset. He had her. "I'm not saying he's not a good man, I'm just saying that I don't want to drag him in to this. Whatever I'm going to do, I don't want anyone having to come and follow me. And I don't need a babysitter. I don't need help, I've got this." He assured her, and did he believe that? No. But he didn't want to drag someone in to trouble because they were associated with him or being dragged in to a mess that this was all going to cause. He felt his chest tighten when she said that at one point they would have sent him after her. "Another Hobbit reference, really? Alright fine. But if I say you have to leave, you leave."
"Oh don't flatter yourself; I babysit no one on this team unless they have a broken limb. You can only break three now, your chances are very slim, and I don't think you'll ever beat Barton's record," she teased with a grin. The grin only got wider when he finally gave in to let her help him, but she nodded in agreement, the grin fading. "I know, I know. I never took lead on missions; I'm very good at getting out of Dodge when I'm told to, but I won't be far off. I can... do more damage from a distance, if that will help. No computer system is safe from me, so if you need access to places, access to intel somehow? I've disarmed entire explosives set up's from a mile off. I can literally do it all in a fuzzy bathrobe from the hotel." She'd done many a mission just like that, much to Steve's... mild annoyance. It least meant that she had zero intention of getting caught in any potential crossfire. "But I'm a much, much faster shot than I am at giving warnings over a comms unit. Nat made sure of that. So whatever you need, you got. When do we start?"
✨ to go stargazing with my muse ( andy )
"I am so glad you said we should pack extra blankets," she said, wrapping another one around her shoulders. It seemed many people in the park had the same idea; she could see people a ways off getting more jackets from their cars. A few were making runs to the little coffee shop down the hill path. But her husband was smart- he'd made enough coffee to fill up three of their huge travel thermoses- the hot chocolate in the fourth was for the drive home.
She snuggled closer to him on the hood of the car and carefully laid back on the windscreen- one she had personally reinforced the day she'd found out they were expecting Emma. No one was going through the windscreen on her watch, ever. "You picked a good date idea, babe. I can't remember the last time I've seen the sky this clearly before."
@hxrbingxr replied to [x]:
“I’m not insulted,” she insisted with a little shake of her head. “I’m just surprised. Here I thought Stark was the only person I’d need to surpass. Now I got a whole Princess and her lab that puts my best robotics two years off pace, to surpass? I dunno if I have that much nerd energy in me anymore.” She was cracking bitter jokes, but she was being truthful all the same. “I haven’t had the mind to improve AIDEN in a long while. Maybe I could learn something while I’m here, if she’d be willing to teach me. Gods know I won’t be getting help from Stark any time soon again...”
"Is it that hard to believe someone can outsmart Stark?" Her brows rose as she continued to observe this curious outsider. "We Wakandans would not be the same as we are today without the brains and cunning of its people. And the Princess is one of our best." She spoke with confidence, not arrogance, and the air of someone speaking of what she truly believes in. "You have been through many trials and tribulations; you should not be so hard on yourself. Go take a rest and I will see what I can do to help you attain an audience with her, uh?"
"Not hard to believe, no... Just difficult. Honestly I've felt like I've been running in circles for the last five years when it comes to my inventions. There's only so many things I can invent and redesign before it all just becomes... predictable. Against people like HYDRA, you cannot be predictable- and we now have under our guard their most prized asset." She looked at her companion, sincerity and determination on her face. "I made a promise to Steve years ago- when we find Bucky, we protect Bucky. He's... he's here, but he's still my charge. Even if I can't be of help to her... is it Majesty, or Grace if she's a Princess?" she suddenly asked, her tone going from serious to curious in a beat. "Anyway- anything I can do to help her in helping Bucky, I want in. Our goal is to get him as... safe for himself as he can be, so he can live a life. Someone outside of Wakanda has to know how to keep that new arm working... and know what to look for if someone's trying to make blackmarket knock-offs. I'm sure you're aware of how hard it is to track vibranium sales even amongst sneaky crooks, but when it shows up?? I've seen someone purchase a kilo of it for the price of a city block in Manhattan."
"Hell yeah we do. We have to have something to look forward to sometimes. Humanity is a piece of shit floating in the cesspool of darkness in this city sometimes- Taco Tuesdays is like a reset point. Plus then the guys can't lie to me when they say they didn't get hurt on their last ops. Wade I don't worry about so much, and I'm pretty sure Spidey's healing factor is maturing. DD I worry about constantly and he hates it but, what's he gonna do? I'm too cute to ignore and I can totally body him into the floor if I have to." She pulled out another tub of ice cream, shaking her head a little. "Kate, I will make you as many bows and as many tac suits, stun arrows, whatever- it means you get back home, that's all I give a shit about. But you have got to stop trying to solo things, okay? Not even the X-Men do solo missions, and they have superpowers. We're just arguably psychotic do-gooders in fancy suits. We need all the backup we can get."
"Well, I possibly could be convinced to hit up tacos with you guys then..." She looked forward to hot baths and bed a lot of the time these days. Her body hurt quite a bit, if she'd been rough and tumbled around, so a hot bath was nice. "Listen, I get injured most of the time, because I'm just a plain old humna. I just refuse to give up." Kate took the tub from her and grabbed herself a spoon, before popping the top off and digging in. "I don't mean to go alone all the time. I just happen upon things sometimes. and I definitely call shit in if there's any kinda magic involved. I can't deal with that!" She can, however, stall for time with sarcasm and puns.
"I don't even deal with magic in TTRPG games- no thank you, I'll stick to stabbing bad guys. Much easier." Much more dangerous too, but even with her ion fields, Eira wasn't yet ready to go full Multiclassed into Wizard on anyone just yet. The fields worked just as they had when she'd only invented them to work in her bots; they were defensive, and so long as they kept her from taking armor piercing bullets to the chest, she was happy. "You know... you are due for a tac suit upgrade. I usually make upgrades after input from the others- like do you need more range of motion, more places to store Widow Bites, that kind of thing. I've been wanting to make Wade a new one, but he insists he doesn't need it. I don't care that he can regenerate limbs, it's still awful as fuck to see him waltz up to the roof missing an arm." She sighed and opened up her own tub of ice cream. "Are you giving yourself time to heal between missions? Be honest- I'm not the one that snitches to Fury on this team."
"It's what I was raised on for field training with him and Nat. I needed it for survival... Pretty sure it stunted my growth though, I feel like I got shorter from all the times they absolutely whooped my ass on the mats." She sipped the coffee Bobbi had brought her and hummed in appreciation. "So you need me to replace an antique that should be donated to the Smithsonian? Easy peasy, but if Fury comes after me looking for it, I'm not responsible for any damages." She was teasing; she knew she could outrun Fury... if he ran out of bullets. "Backup weapon I can do; I can also build in special filters that can detect poisons, microbes, fungus... I'm very, very close to coming up with a filter that works for detecting brain eating amoeba, but those don't survive coffee water temperatures anyways." She was rambling, her brain seeming to be working on three different threads of thought at once. "Poisons are the important one, though."
“Oh you poor kid. That would do anyone in.” She, thankfully, went through regular SHIELD agent training at the academy, and even then, she didn't have to worry about training with the Avengers, because that wasn’t her main skillset to SHIELD. Now and then she sparred with Clint, sometimes Hunter, but it wasn't frequent enough that she felt like they kicked her ass. Though, she supposed now they likely would be able to. “I doubt he'll miss it, Hill found one that brews a whole pot in 2 minutes, and he loves that one.” Bobbi also didn't really care, and she was sure that she'd get away with it, for the time being, and could take the blame if he did go looking for it. “If it's on SHIELD property, it should always filter poisons, and neurotoxins. We never know if there’s moles.” It had happened more than once, and Bobbi still blamed herself for one of the instances.
“So, yes, please. All the types of filtering, an extra weapon, and preferably a tracker, in case someone tries to steal my coffee maker.”
"... In two minutes?" Eira asked, eyes widening for a moment. "Not even Tony had one that fast, what the fuck... Pym probably made it. One of the few things Tony could never really... match tech wise, was the speed at which his tech worked. Pym just had a knack for it somehow- but don't tell Pym I said that. The last thing I need to hear his him gloating over a singular minor compliment to his technology." The unspoken distaste... dislike... feud... war?? between Stark and Pym over technology had never been lost on her, and she was nothing if not loyal. "After HYDRA I don't blame you lot one bit, but nothing makes me happier than thwarting their plans, no matter how tiny the mechanism. I'll need you to go over the coding, though, before I finalize it. Biochem- anything is not my forte and you know I trust your smarts in that field more than I do anyone else."

"I have finished my top five lists," she said as she walked into the living room. "If I have to look at one more list of baby names, I'm gonna go cross-eyed. Either the name is on one of our top choices, or we're going to just name the baby 'Stevie' and be done with it."
"Well remind them from time to time. Their brain is still developing, they might need reminders." She smiled softly and settled onto the very comfortable couch. "Zoey Rogers... That really sounds so cute," she said, her smile getting bigger. "We should figure out middle names, too- but I agree. Zoey if it's a girl... and I also agree with pizza. I want to try their thin crust... with bell peppers. And pepperoni. Lots of pepperoni."
"Oh thank god, I was worried you were bringing me more of Clint's," Eira said, taking the mug. "Tryin' to cut back on that shit. The older I get, the more it makes me feel like I can smell colors after four cups." She tested the temperature of the coffee before chugging about half of the mug down. "You want something that hold hot liquids safely in a lab? Shouldn't be too hard- but you're asking me. What do you really need?"
Bobbi laughed, shaking her head. "You're brave for drinking that concoction." Bobbi had one sip, once, and refused to trust Clint to make coffee for her ever again. She needed steady hands and after too much caffeine she didn't have steady hands anymore. "Well, we have like.... a 1980's maker down there that is probably Fury's original coffee maker when they built this place. I just need an upgrade. I mean, if it can house a backup weapon, I wouldn't complain. I'm asking you because then I know it'll be fast, and it'll be safe."
