obsessed with homophobes in fandom who seem to not understand the concept of shipping
"gay people will ship any characters who talk to each other" thatâs what everyone does, welcome to being in a fandom
"theyâre just friends they donât like each other romantically" congratulations on discovering the concept of shipping, which is where you imagine two characters in a relationship despite them not being romantically involved in canon
zombies smell incredibly bad.
it depends, of course, on how you imagine the biology of a zombie, but if you imagine it to be made of partially rotten flesh, it would smell unbearably putrid. if youâve ever smelled a decaying carcass, you know the scent is unforgettable and overwhelming. the decaying flesh of zombies would carry with them the scent of rot. it would be strong enough to incapacitate you at a close distance. youâd sometimes smell a zombie before you see it. youâd sometimes smell the faint scent of decay, and your body would tense, unsure if youâre smelling a truly inanimate corpse or if the undead body of a zombie is nearby awaiting your approach. a zombie wouldnt be able to truly hide; its scent would be too overwhelming. but maybe youâd smell the overwhelming scent of death and feel the instant terror of encountering a zombie, but you wouldnât be able to see it, wouldnât know where to run.
maybe to them, youâd smell fresh. or maybe to the undead, the scent of life is equally as putrid as the scent of death is to us.
Unironically I think the early to mid 20s age group in America has unbelievably bad consent boundaries on all levels and so much language to defend it but this makes me sound like elon musk if I say it however the commonality of someone who will be like âI had 47 panic attacks and itâs your faultâ if you tell them no is insane
I rejected someone and got called âthe scariest person Iâve ever metâ with so much therapy speak interspersed like alright okay alright okay alright okay
âYou just say whatever youâre thinking and I donât know how to handle itâ was verbatim part of this conversation. Also everyone hates to see an autistic bitch
When I was in this age bracket, there was a huge emphasis on improving consent culture via graceful rejection, and it's gone by the wayside. Which sucks.
Twice in my youth (once in high school and once in college) I was in situations where I was asking someone out and I could tell they were calculating in their heads the risks of rejecting me, and both times I said, out loud, "you can say no, I wouldn't have asked if I wasn't prepared for either answer." And then they said no. This wasn't some spark of special wisdom I had - I knew to do it because feminist conversations among my age group brought it up regularly. This isn't happening nearly enough anymore.
More recently, I was really glad when we got to "rejection sensitive dysphoria" in my IOP program and it was one of those symptoms where the therapists really emphasized how it affects others. Because it does.
Being someone who cannot handle rejection makes you much more likely to violate boundaries, and yes, that includes sexual ones. Yes, you, reader who has never hurt a fly. If you don't want to stumble backwards into sexually assaulting someone, fix your RSD meltdowns. If you keep them up it's only a matter of time. Because if you're nice enough to interact with, but are known to have RSD meltdowns, guess what happens when your friends and acquaintances need to reject you?
Monsterfucking is so normalized on Tumblr I kinda forgot it even counted as a kink. I thought it was like liking boobs on girls. The basic normal stuff most people like.

Dance like a bird - it works Vaughn's and Hedwig's idea of fun includes goofy dancing with each other. Plus Vaughn is respectful to Hedwig's quality beetle time I drew this mini-animation recently and decided to make a post with a couple of other dancing arts. Some of them are pretty old, but I've freshen them up a little bit. Also, I had a pet Goliath beetle IRL - added a picture, check it out!
i think a succubus and a siren could love each other and be wives
âI have this artistic idea but not the skills to achieve it to the standard I want.â
congrats! Now you have a motif! A recurring theme! A focus for your art! Something to haunt you!
Seventeen still lives of dandelions? Three hundred poems about grief? A sketchbook dedicated to your grandmotherâs house? Two books trying to unravel the complexities of familial relationships?
Donât let the fear of it not being perfect on the first try stop you from being Weird About It!
Please view Hokusai's gradual working towards The Great Wave Off Kanagawa, over a period of 39 years.
An early exploration of the themes Hokusai would keep coming back to is Spring in Enoshima, done in 1793 when he was 33. The wave is small and there are no boats, but Mt Fuji is clear in the background, and Enoshima is in Kanagawa, so we are clearly beginning to work towards something here.
A second pass, eleven years later in 1803 when he was 44. The title of this one begins to get more familiar: The View of Honmoku Off Kanazawa. It has a towering wave over a smaller boat, but Mt Fuji is not present, and the boat is considerably larger and has a sail. But the feeling of danger in the wave and the smallness of the boat are here, and of course the general composition is definitely recognizable.
This is A View Of Express Delivery Boats, done in 1805, merely two years later at age 46. Here we find the wave and the boats almost exactly as we'll find them in The Great Wave Off Kanagawa, though Mt Fuji isn't present, and the location is uncertain. And it's a good picture! The wave is threatening, the boats are small -- but the feeling of "ocean" isn't really there yet, is it? It's unlikely this picture would have become a classic for the ages. But that's okay, there's still time.
And here we have it, a full 26 years later, done by Hokusai in 1831 at the age of 72. The Great Wave Off Kanagawa, one of the most recognizable pieces of art in the world. The boats are there, the mountain is there, the wave is there, and the FEELING is there. He did it! He reached the apex of his ongoing motif and theme!
Or did he? Because the whole point of a motif is not that you're striving to get to the perfect version of it, the one idealized image you carried in your head all along, and when it is done, you are also done. Hokusai is on record at the age of 73 saying he'd only just begun to feel like he was learning how to draw things properly, and that "if I keep up my efforts, I will have even a better understanding when I was 80 and by 90 will have penetrated to the heart of things. At 100, I may reach a level of divine understanding, and if I live decades beyond that, everything I paint â dot and line â will be alive." He had drawn The Great Wave, but he didn't believe he was finished -- he thought that he was still just beginning to get started.
And he wasn't finished with his ocean motif, either. Please check out his Mt Fuji At Sea, done in 1834 at the age of 75.
It's all there; Mt Fuji, the ocean, the wave. The boats are gone, but replaced with birds, flying with the wave instead of fighting against it. It's not as famous as The Great Wave Off Kanagawa, but that's not what motifs are for -- each successive work does not have to surpass the previous in terms of success, especially in terms of external success. They're there for you to keep playing with, keep remixing and re-experiencing, for as long as you think you have something to say.
You can always redraw a concept :)
The black areas represent the remaining natural dark skies in the United States
Iâve been in the middle of the ocean at night and now live in texas and it is so hard to explain to people that no, they have not ever seen the night sky. It is so hard to explain to people that what they think is a proper night sky is fucking pathetic. A disgrace.
People talk about how you canât see stars in the city and yeah, thatâs true, but their concept of âseeing starsâ is being able to make out orionâs belt.
So, so few people have see the sky in all its glory and itâs not sad. Itâs a fucking crime. Seeing a perfectly dark night, no clouds, not a hint of light pollution? Thatâs a fucking religious experience.
The sky the vast vast majority of us grew up with is not the sky that inspired us to look up. It is not the sky that inspired constellations. You canât even see most constellations.
Your ancestors looked at the night sky and said âsurely, that is where the gods must live.â And you might be lucky if you can see hardly more than a handful of stars.
The sky is full, fucking FULL, of stars, and youâve never seen them.
I remember the first time I saw a properly dark sky and was like âoh thatâs why itâs called the milky wayâ and promptly started to cry
When we were on a field trip to the middle of the red sea, I remember us all crowding at the end of the boat that didnât have lights and just lying on our backs and staring
When you see a properly dark starscape
You understand why people wrote poems and made up legends and built rockets and said heavenâs in the sky
The universe is infinite. So are the stars
Iâm trying to find a picture on google images to show you what I mean and I canât find any
You think of the night sky like fairy lights on black velvet, but itâs not itâs not itâs like, like, dust in sunlight, like - I canât find the words.
The stars are everywhere, like sugar, like glitter, like dust. You canât find the constellations at first, not because you canât recognise them, but because thereâs so many stars you canât pick out the familiar line of Orionâs belt. The North star has gone from bright familiarity to almost vanishing among a thousand, a hundred thousand, a million other lights. The milky way is a line of light arcing across the sky like a moon-trail on water only infinitely, infinitely bigger.
And for the first time in your life youâll understand why people call it a dome, because it is, itâs three dimensional in exactly the way a city skyscape isnât.
Youâll understand why Luthien TinĂşviel danced under starlight, not moonlight, why people in a time before we knew the earth was round still looked up and wondered and built telescopes and dreamed about the stars.
The stars are endless and ancient and infinite and you will stand with your head craned back and your rucksack forgotten at your feet and youâll feel like youâre falling upwards into that great bright sky like itâs calling you home and youâll wonder how you ever thought the stars were beautiful before tonight when all youâd ever seen were the naked empty skyscapes of your home. And youâll cry and youâll spend the rest of your time there gazing up and wondering and imagining what it would be like to stand among those bright silver flecks
And then youâll come home, and look up, and fall in a different kind of love with that handful of blazing stars to stubborn to be outdone by the whole of human invention, leading you home despite the light pollution and the clouds and the endless bustle of this shrinking planet.
this is not a shot from a space telescope overlayed behind a woods, or anything. thatâs not the sky as kepler or hubble or james webb see it. thatâs the sky from a dark sky park in michigan. thatâs the view you are missing out on from right here on earth. thatâs the view that has been stolen from you.
This is why we call it light pollution.
And I feel this way also about silence. You donât know what silence is. None of us do. I think the only true silence in this century was when Covid was first recognised and everything STOPPED for a couple days. And we saw the sea recover in those two days, and by its absence saw what damage sound was doing particularly in the sea.
But then it started again.
Infrasound is one of the most insidious forms of industrial pollution, of environmental bigotry, and the least studied, and the least cared about. âOh, only 1% of the population will noticeâ thatâs millions of people who can feel the vibrations, who have no escape from it.
I long for silence as much as I long for darkness. The world is too bright and too loud, and too few people care.
exercising consistently, even moderately or lightly, is so rewarding and worth adding to your routine, not because it makes you thinner, but because it makes you feel better physically and mentally

between the hours of 12 and 2 am everything is really funny but after 3 am you need to watch out
i didnât know how to do one of the problems on my exam, so instead i wrote âi am transphobicâ so i can get famous and start a fundraiser when i get a bad grade
When the character analysis is getting really good but then they drop ânarcissisticâ as an insult or character descriptor
Stares in disabled with personality disorders and the lateral violence and internalized ableism that exists inside and outside the disabled community
I need more people who are obsessed with irrelevant npcs and background characters. I'm talking no plot relevance I'm talking no merch and nobody else making fanart
âCovid game me narcolepsyâ no you fucking pervert it didnât. Youâre just a weirdo with a gross fetish. Covid didnât make you suddenly want to fuck dead people. Keep that shit to yourself you gods damned weirdo
I have type 2 Narcolepsy. Studies have shown that serious viral infections can cause people to develop Narcolepsy if they are already genetically susceptible to having it. This includes covid. That is what happened to me.
You on the other hand might want to google the difference between Narcolepsy and NecrophiliaâŚ.
Yall, I canât believe that I have to do this, but I am going to say this in as clearly as possible
The anon was very confused.
I have Narcolepsy, which is a sleep disorder. Narcolepsy has nothing to do with Necrophilia. I am not into necrophilia.
I didnât realize that one said ânecropolises.â Thatâs actually so funny. I think that one must have been a joke

Iâm not trying to turn your kids trans; thatâs stupid. Iâm trying to turn them into socialists.
#for real tho! their gender is their business but class struggle is everyoneâs business
i think taylor swift wishes she was bisexual because she knows it would make her slightly more money. whereas sabrina carpenter wishes she was bisexual so she could have sex with someone who looks exactly like herself. and ariana grande wishes she was bisexual because she did too many designer drugs on the set of wicked and now she has kin memories of being glinda for real
