Limbo. That’s it that’s the idea, limbo. Everything plays out how it does canonically in the strory, server gets blown up but since Wilbur is far away he dies of radiation poisoning. Slowly, and then he has to deal with the fear of illness, the sickness, the worse isolation than death and then he dies by the end of the first chapter.

Limbo, it’s the same, it’s red, it’s a train station, it’s however you want to depict it but he is still dead and he is back, he can’t leave. So cue typical freaking out because wtf? He’s dead again? What? There’s crying, why is there crying? He turns, it’s ghostbur. It’s Quackity, it’s Ghostbur by Quackity on the opposing platform. They don’t try to cross but they can’t anyways, the middle track separates them, a train to never come but blocked off as if so. The last interaction they had in thier waking life? Killing Ranboo, fucking shit up for eachother forever more. So this is it, Wilburs final hell and Quackity’s. They are eachothers downfall, most feared creation and now they have to deal with it for afterlife. Never ending, close enough to marriage. Torture.

But hey at least they can’t fight right? No, not physically but verbally which has always been the problem hasnt it? So they can try and fix shit after long uncountable days but it won’t mean anything, there’s nothing to show it means anything. And that’s the funky cool idea about this fic, unphysical affection. How do you go about showing that in these characters? KILL THEM. DOOM THEM. MAKE THEM FACE WHAT THEYVE KNOWN ALL ALONG.

Okay this is crazy because I have this fic idea partly wrote but-

I think that they meet again ten years later. Not by coincidence or some stupid mistake but because they seek eachother out purposefully.

C!Quackitys original ending (WHICH I WILL REITERATE IS THE REAL ONE SO ITS THE ONLY ONE THAT COUNTS FROM NOW ON) ends with him planning to rebuild Las Navadas with a peaceful weariness in the air. No Dream- Tommy had sure enough killed him by the point Quackity stopped sitting and drinking over the rubble and decided to get his ass moving. No Slime- although Quackitys new office now sits in the hollow spot where his death was planted so technically, was he ever gone? And no biting fear that everything will fall apart. It might but that’s why Las Navadas ends there- we don’t know.

However, there’s always that one loose thread, never cut clean. Wilbur. So Quackity writes a letter, something akin to the one Wilbur forgot (or very consciously) to throw away but not quite. It’s a different mess, an invitation of if Wilbur decides to make amends.

Ten years go by, Quackity still thinks about it when he finds random gunpowder or chatter over tinkering mess of metal but now he has a routine. A real one and his nation has never been more polished, his attitude never as him as it has-

Oh fuck.

So Wilbur sends a letter back. It looks old and for good reason, Wilbur had let it sit on the desk of his apartment for years, never fully written until now. Routine? Routine. Back to routine!

More letters, fun. Great! Sticky notes to go along. Great, Quackity ignores them, lets it build up over months- ethier Wilbur is restless or these are only just getting to Quackity now.

Then, Quackity writes back.

Boom! Wilbur finds his scuffed trainers upon the sand. Huh, trainers? Oh yeah, and a scuffed version of his gas station uniform that he tries to desperately stuff under his coat. He’s also older! And more awkward to the unfamiliarity of things, well he can note a few memorable locations within this nation but nothing as… modernised and large as now. Oh yeah, forgiveness. So he goes, asks everyone for Quackity and ends up bumping into him on the way out of the casino. Quackity thinks it’s a drunk, Wilbur thinks it’s a stuck up dick too proud to say sorry- oh! Oh no. No, it’s him.

Wilbur stumbles out a silly mess of apologies, trying to make up for everything he should’ve said but didn’t. Quackity is staring, he isn’t angry. Quackity is still staring, he isn’t angry? Oh okay! So now Wilbur is angry, trying to excuse his own regret with harsher demands for Quackitys attitude but after a long calm down Quackity shrugs and says he’s changed. (Very secretly he’s happy to see Wilbur.)

So they plan a catch up date. Yep. A date. That’s how different they are.

WILBUR TALKS ABOUT UTAH, VERY LOSER BOY IN UTAH. WE DIVE INTO HIS INTERLISED FEELINGS AND EMOTIONS HE LEARNT TO DESCOVER YET AGAIN IN UTAH AFTER LIMBO. THEY HAVE A DICK MEASURING CONTEST OVER WHOS SLEPT WITH THE MOST NOW THAT WILBUR IS A BIT OF A SLUT, THEY DRINK, THEY FLIRT, THEY FUCK??? OR WOULD THAT RUIN THE HEALING VIBE IDK THEY FREAKY UHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

They visit eachother every holiday 🤭 so Wilbur very awkwardly has to introduce Quackity to his Utah friends as his boyfriend knowing that Quackity has to completely lie about how he knows Wilbur. AWWWWWWWWW.

oh god. This is hard. But it isn’t. Not really. Kinda.

Okay well I have more inbetween eras compared to just the main four (that being L’manberg, Pogtopia, Butcher Q and Las navadas)

So we’ll start pre L’manberg.

•This is where they’ve only just met, there’s no political agenda in the air and really they are friends for once. Both are in early 20s, Quackity had only just come from juive with Bads help (no clue how I haven’t figured out an authentic way for Quackity to go straight from juive to dsmp yet) so Quackity is just 20, Wilbur is 22 with a child to nag him and rushing dreams for this place. There’s no debates to screw with their interpretation so they go on walks, they grab coffee every once in a while. Purely new friends that have that, “I won’t talk to you for weeks but when I see you it’ll be the same.” Sometimes Quackity comes over and babysits, mostly he just gossips with Wilbur in the kitchen while Philza does all the work. They just click! Heavy chemistry but I don’t think I need to explain friendship to you.

L’manberg

•Crazy two years in which Wilbur gets so wrapped up in his nation that he becomes a tiny bit egotistical… but it’s fine! It’s human and Quackity takes the decline of his part in this as a game. So now it’s tilted a bit, no pure hatred but there is a small sourness to the friendship that only ends up being borderline flirting. In turn this is where feelings start to develop for both, except Quackity seems utterly devoted to Schlatt, an experienced politician the two roped into this for legitimacy so the romance is assumed unrequited love. Little does Wilbur know he’s only using schlatt to win and all the furiously consistent run ins are in fact planned. At this point it’s a borderline homoerotic friendship but also when they two start questioning their slight dislike for the other.

Pogtopia

•This is mainly Wilbur’s thinking of Q which of course derails into distrust and pure seething hatred. Quackity thinks of Wilbur as a washed up obstacle, a sore loser even if Quackity himself isnt having the best of times. (Avoiding self blame whoa! Who would’ve guessed) AND THEN THEY MEET AGAIN. And let me tell you these fuckers want to kill eachother quite literally. No I am not fucking with they emotionally bonded over sex, no! No! Because these two stubborn characters wouldn’t give in so easily, especially since Quackity had just left a relationship where his body was the focus. And Wilbur isn’t fucking sane enough to be anything but belittling. He uses Quackity as blame, puts it all on him and has the obsessive idea that Quackity must be a spy for manberg because he never truly killed schlatt. They fight, a fucking lot and it’s every time one of them nearly bleeds out or falls, or ends up choked passing out. There is nothing else like sympathy or sexual tension going on because it is pure disgust. For the broken friendship, for how similar the two were growing. Are there some gay bits? Yes, sometimes when Wilbur is having a emotional break down he mixes the hate for love, the sadness for yearn and maybe kisses Quackity but the other is always quick to shut him off, remind him that he doesn’t need to do that for Quackity to listen. This is also why it’s so fucked. Because the only one who Wilbur feels he can comfortably speak to is Quackity. Maybe it’s the small wish Quackity would use it against him who knows. But it’s a on and off relationship with peace. Sometimes hesitantly civil, sometimes crawling with grimace. It’s the most vunrable era, at least for Wilbur.

New L’manberg

•Everything is chill except Quackity is kinda grieving, just a bit but hey he’s the vice president of a cool country! Yes! Oh but there’s ghostbur. So that’s fun. Quackity is like derealisation as a person during this, ghostbur is weirdly a perfect replica of Wilbur just… relaxed. He’s not whiny like others claimed and he doesn’t cry, he smiles, he teases and laughs. He’s awfully like a distant memory doused with sugar. Why is ghostbur different for Q? Well I like to think that ghostbur is a stripped version of Wilbur, his inner soul. So he needs to be around Tommy to keep him safe that doesn’t mean he’ll be sympathetic. He needs to be figure of his fathers love, so he nags him, he needs to be calm even just for a moment. Quackity is his source, and ghostbur will do things and not know why he’s giggling so much, why he feels warm when he should be cold but it’s safe here. It’s nice here. (A.K.A - Wilbur always had some form of love for Quackity even in the end, so this is it dumbed down to a silly recreation)

Butcher Q

•RESENTMENT YET AGAIN. YES! Quackity fully tries to disconnect from Ghostbur from his past to focus on vengeance. But they stare, watch but never exchange words. If it is, it is riddled with distaste that Ghostbur rightfully returns, words awfully similar. Familiar in the dark. Quackity is also with Karl and sapnap at this time so he’s trying to put effort into the new rather than old, cue digging up Wilbur’s grave, eating schlatt heart, delusional illness that doesn’t help him not one bit.

LAS NAVADAS

•my god. I will freak because this is hard. The main thing I can say is that my interpretation follows cannon to a T except I think the two would also be mutual with help. Like it’d take a while but silly endeavours would ensue because the two are so wrapped up in knowing what the fuck the other is up to that yes, sometimes they both break into another’s home and steal shit. Yes, sometimes both do work together to win a stupid competition and get pissed when they don’t. They are freakishly domesticated in the way the understanding is instinctual at this point and the idea of friendship is turns on its head for- I need to be around this guy 24/7 so I know he doesn’t fuck shit up. They are cruel and they are competitive but because of Pogtopia there is a tiny line they do not cross. AND NO WIKBUR DOES NOT HAVE FEELINGS FOR Q DRUING THIS BECAUSE OF LIMBO. Being away for 13 years without human interaction would mean = what is this feeling? What the fuck is it called again? And whatever attraction Wilbur does have, he excuses it for anger in some regard. This is like the most homoertoic they get but also they get silly. And murderous, and incredibly turnt on by eachother. Basically think of all the eras shoved into one and that’s las navadas. It’s hard to explain but my interpretation of this era is so long I’m gonna save it for a rainy day.
